hi there,

been looking into upping the power of my s3, so far i have exhaust system and dec-cats, 007p valve and induction ki but im looking for more power and to get 300+ bhp.

obviously a remap is a good start along with a front mount cooler but what else do people recomend or have done for that kinda budget to get to the power im looking for? dont really wanan sell the car as love the s3 just want it to be quicker.

cheers ian

3k for just over 100bhp over stage 1 map

GT30 Turbo
FMIC
3.0"Turbo back exhaust
Uprated fuel injectors
CAI
Uprated engine internals
Uprated fuel pump

Extras
Silicone TIP
Uprated brakes
Silicone vac hoses

But including fitting costs, will that not come to over 3K Finesse mate?

Rather than power, how about handling mods? ARBs, B8s and H&R springs, rear tie bars etc? Or bigger brakes?

And this too, too keep up with your new found power.

Worth it? Debatable. Each to their own:readit:

no chance you build an engine/turbo spec for that money - ever..

id guess KO4 hybrid and maybe rods at that price....waste of money on the decat as your car is now illegal and you have no performance benefit over standard

with £3k, id be looking to sell up and buy something pre modded with a shed load of power

I don't think selling and re-buying will work.

I'd go for a hybrid install with FMIC

Or a combination that includes brakes/suspension

first of all you dont know the quality of work your getting as its already been done, you then have to question why the said person is selling, then you have your cost to change....then you have to find someone whos gone BT and is selling..... assuming your talking about a modded S3, if not then what exactly are you going to get for your money that is faster and as well equipped?

slight difference in running costs and age of vehicle :) but i see ya point ;)

bang for buck would be on a whole different level. id consider that before plowing more money into the a3, the whole theory about starting with some more potent to start with

at present the car is already lowerd on apex springs and am looking into b8 dampners possibly.

so a better option is probally a remap and front mount and increase the suspension set-up for a faster all round car? or a hybrid turbo, rods and front mount plus remap plus fitting?

or another thing was, remap and front mount plus haldex controller and rollbars.

Christ that's amazing bang for buck. Not my cuppa, but just shows what's out there.

Can't wait to see the guys face when he goes from Audi to Alfa, haha!

I wouldn't bother with the Haldex controller especially as you haven't got decent dampers at the moment... Its a nice to have rather than something that will transform the way the car performs like some of the other mods...

To get the most out of the engine and the car without going down the big turbo route your only realistic option is a hybrid but tbh I would get all the prerequisites in place first so B8's to sort your suspension, FMIC to keep it all cool then look to get all the bits together ready for a hybrid... so things like a 3" downpipe, silicon hoses and TIP, panel filter or cone filter (be careful if you go for an enclosed induction system as they can be restrictive) then get rods and the hybrid fitted... if you need to phase your upgrades due to budget, I would would plan to get the suspension, FMIC and silicon hoses in place first... don't bother getting a stage 1 map for the time being if you plan to go hybrid unless whoever is tuning your car for the hybrid can offer an upgrade path as its 300/400 quid you can use towards the stage 3 mapping the hybrid will need... if you have any money left then brakes (bare minimum of decent fluid and DS2500's) then ARB's as these will give you the least bang for buck benefit out of all the other mods...

Read the sticky for more info about the K04 Hybrid that Bill has been using for Speedy Steve's S3 and read the other stickies for advice on FMIC and other tuning stuff....

Just another quick shout, brakes? No point having a car that will do 0-100 in seconds, but take minutes to do 100-0.

Thanks for correction me Bill, what can one get for 3k, excluding labour

Thanks

with rods and downpipe, a hybrid k04.. inc labour..
£3k may buy a chunk of hardware, but internals will be required which will bust the budget i think
if diy then shed loads of labout saved for sure of course

Hence Tuffty's current expenditure, or relative lack there of.

I would love to be as technical/knowledgeable as you two/Welly. Would love to do hands on modifications (not necessarily to the Audi, but maybe a make your own kit car).

Tufftys doing the same as the rest of us mere mortals.. buying bits as and when funds become available, and shopping for the right bits, then doing it himself (in the main) so saving muchos ££ on someone else's labour rates.

Tufftys seen the light on big port.. lol, and now got one, is planning valves and springs to suit, and may well embark on building the head up himself. Redoing the intercooler pipe also to a decent size also.. so the thing can flow better. All sensible.. as and when time and funds allow.
