my AAN 5 Cylnder 2.2 Turbo powered Audi A4 B5 avant quattro

I know a lot of people in the VAG world have said it cannot be done and i will not finish the car................ well..............

After HEAVILY HEAVILY modiying the chassis pickups and 90% of the bodywork on the front end its done.......

right heres my Audi running and completed running the standard URS4 Bosch managment, BOSCH 044 pump, although been remapped and only 1bar boost and 8000rpm limiter, 12mm fuel lines throughout, 3" downpipe, single box system and seperate screamer pipe for wastegate

Waiting on 1.8bar wastegate spring to be delivered then will be running 2bar held boost on 99ron fuel remap.

Then the rebuild starts!!................

i currently have a 2.5td AAT bottom end, Scat rods, JE pistons, Gold ARP bolts, New oil pump and gaskets throughout (already have this)

Jonus spec cams, solid lifters and timing gear (tested to well over 1200bhp and 11,000rpm)
5x1600cc injectors (already have this)
Big port/valve head

Fabricated inlet manifold

GT42R turbocharger running through ported AAN wastegate (already have this)

034 motorsport stageIIc managment with ALS/launch control (already have this)


For the time being when the wastegate spring arrives i will just remap it to run 444cc skyline injectors and 2bar boost for arround 400bhp.

If any more doubters in Essex wanna look at the car i will gladly bring it along for a look!!!!

That looks awsome butty my hat is off to you i dont know much about modding engines but that sounds quick weldone to you :salute::applaus::respekt:
 
Tidy! I have always loved the unconventional route. How long did it take you dude, and how much do YOU reckon it has set you back? RS4 money? Bet she sounds mega.....
 
Well take a complete running A4 avant 2.5tdi....... sell the motor that you have just blown to pieces........ erm...... lol

sell a URS4, take very poorly URS4 in p/x, take good engine out of URS4 and fit into A4

i have been at work for 7am before hours and staying back late (after 10pm most nites) and working every saturday and sunday (8 am to after 10pm) since January, if that puts it into perspective!!

What i want is an RS4 with the best sounding engine in the world, i was gonna buy an RS4 many many times after selling cossie projects but was always dissapointed by them when i drove them, boaring almost!
so i decided to build my own, and 5 pot powered RS4 bodied "SS4" with german SS badges lol, hope this dont offend anyone :)
i build big spec cars and never dissapoint.

I wish it was an easy swap. I would love a 5 pot in mine.
 
if i knew it was gonna be this much hastle i would NOT have started it.
Worst part is with the B5 being so advanced with imoblisers and locking things out when you remove a factory ECU its wiring and electrics that have taken so long, the engine was "bolted in" within 2 hours after mounts fabricated etc.

It was a TDi that made things even harder for me also, spent a week on the fuel system :eek:
 
I just love the fact that this has been done, after so many people saying that it CAN'T.

Thought i recognised that blue Saph, you on Passionford aswell mate??? Love the old style MO's, and mk1 and 2 Scorts.

Well done on taking this project on mate, respect people that go against the grain and do their own thing, looks like a lot of work and fabrication has went into this A4.

Your comment on the RS4 being slightly boring, wot in comparison to, Cosworths, Skylines??? Never drove an Audi RS4 yet but would like to own one in near future, but find myself still looking at another Cos, theyre in the blood. Recently sold my 4x4 Saph last year as had to many toys and it was the least used.

i only got rid of the dark blue saff due to movin to essex to be with a bird, but we have split up, typical!!
I found the RS4 bland, and not violent like i thaught it was gonna be, even a 440MTM one, but i was used to 500+ saffs i guess but i know they are very quick cars,

so i thaught id build my own, best engine in the world EVER and the sexyest looking car EVER........ 700+bhp 5pot + RS4 body Avant = perfection

So wots the plans for the body then mate, complete RS4 panels new, second hand? Any trick bits here???

Sounds like a cracking project that will no doubt have lots interested in it. Theres a project room on the site also to have your own thread for the likes of this, will let more people see it being built. Look forward to the updates mate, keep up the top work!:icon_thumright:
 
Wel it will be mostle new pannels as used stuff is non-existant it seems!

everyone who says they have RS4 panels for sale turn out to be full of **** and have "sold" them within minutes of saying they have em.
Been hunting for pannels for about a year now.

i cannot wait to see it in a widebody stance.

this project is being changed on a weekly basis and mostly aimed toward more power, if you seen my cossies i have built you will understand what i mean ;)

need to link this to the essex part of clubgti. the 5 pot is a direction relation to the 1.8 16v gti lump from the mk2 so its seen as a touch mythical. being vag types, even though my s4 still has standard ride height, its still seen as cool. your creation will definately get a reaction there

Reference the RS4's being bland I can comment on this. Having owned Supras and Skylines (GTR) in the past that are (well still I hope, or there RIP!!-hope not!!) and having driven a work colleauges RS4, I can add that in camparison the 4's are not boring or bland, but nowhere near as challenging/interesting. The Supra and skyline always required all my concentration or it was game over, but the RS4 was so well over-engineered that you could go VERY VERY fast without even trying. They drive themselves almost. It would be almost as interesting/pioneering to put an RB26 DETT in a B5......Maybe in the next life.
 
I suspect the main difference is you've compared a 440hp car weighing 1700kgs with a 500hp car weighing 1200kgs...

you'd need about 700hp in an RS4 to match a 500hp cossie, simply due to the weight.
 
as i said it FELT bland but i know they are fast, just how i felt about the cars i drove thats all :)

i expected it to have more of a "rush" when on boost having 440horses, my A4 with about 250bhp feels a hell of a lot faster, comes on boost in 3rd and takes off but its the way the engines develop the power and torque curves,

i was not having a go as the RS4 is my deam car above EVERY other car well, unless it was a new, genuine Sport RS4 :D
when i gave the guy the keys back to the Nogaro blue 440MTM RS4 it broke my heart on the way home and thats when i decided to build this car out of my daily driver.

hats off to you mate, i bet the sound is awesome and like you said, that engine in an RS4 stance will be the bomb, hopefully you can be at some of the shows we go to, be nice to see and hear the car. well done dude
 
i will be at as many shows as i can :)
i drive my cars very very hard and do a lot of drag days, so see me at the pod on a regular basis.......

it sounds the ****** nuts when it comes on boost and that screamer pipe opens lol
my new wastegate sprins should be here tommorow so loads more boost and even more noise!!!

As soon as i can afford to buy a new camera i will post a vid of the noise, its Immense ;)

Car will be at the Renegade Dub meet next wednesday for all to view and go for passenger rides etc :p

i want the car running the 444cc injectors by then aswell, so garuanteed 400bhp :D

looking for low 12`s so we will see how things go i guess, its in full road car trim too so should be interesting, just watch the launches..... im not shy PMSL! poor poor car :D

the pics are a tad "under done" but from what i can tell it looks practically oe which is worth so many more points imo

Think you've been looking in the wrong places for RS4 panels. I can think of at least 6 B5's which have been/are being widebodied over the last 6 months.

Shame you didn't see Grizz's advert for his widebodied S4 rolling shell. He let that go for buttons a few months back.
 
Infact drop Docurley a PM. Just seen a post on AudiSRS that he will soon be taking ownership of a full set of bright orange RS4 panels which he will be putting up for sale...

well its only about 250bhp at most but with it being a TDi box its loooooooooooong geared lol

Damn thing wont hold any boost, think theres a suspect coilpack on no.1 cylnder
And i think i broke the turbo already lol bit smokey but should be sweet for now ;)

Car just looks like a very very low A4 avant with 18`s ;)

And i have built EVERYTHING except the exhaust, 95% completed by me then, lol

This thing sounds like it will be a beast once the details are sorted and a few extra goodies are added to the engine.

Well, been paying with boost today and it seems like one of the knock sensors are backing the timing right off :(

Need to fit the 034 ECU ASAP, just awaiting bottom pulley now.
Then will be fitting 444cc injectors and hopefully fit the new manifold and bigger turbo, undecided on what one to get...... not fitting the GT42 yet as thats keeping safe for the big cc conversion!
May just go with a K27 for now as they seem cheap enough and readily available

I have a vid of the car loaded up on boost but cant get it from my phone to laptop lol, need a digital camera ASAP :(

looks pretty tight up at the front end.
 
very very tight, bumper is hacked to bits under the skin!

had to leave the bonnet with a huge gap between the lights etc as the rocker cover was touching it and the sump is virtually touching the crossmember and ARB lol

Would never do it again ;)
 
no, i thaught i was gonna have to brace the front pannel but its absolutly fine due to the cross sections of the joins arround the lights where they follow the lines of the headlights, bonus!
