Baited By An evo.

Hi all..
An old work collegue pulled up along side me in town earlier.. He now owns a 02 plate EVO FQ***
However, from town back to our village is around 8miles of country road.
Instead of him just overtaking and dissapearing into the sunset, he decided to sit behind me for around a mile revving, and blowing off his DV.

Untill I eventually took the bait and put my foot down, he stuck with me to 80-90ish (on the short run of private road) untill overtaking and hitting Mach3 into the distance.

Whats the spec of these FQ models? it had weird black spikes on the roof and some pink rear suspension bits if thats any use?.

Crazy fast car though.

Alot of room for "mods"

Not to mention, uprated DV and Silicone TIP

Depends which FQ it was, but they hit 60 in sub 5 seconds I believe. And have just as impressive figures for 30 - 70 etc etc. Not a fair fight at all!

Thats a 7 not a 8 and the air fins and wing mirrors are something he has put on their as they come on the evo 8.

From the look of it he has quite a few aftermarket parts so seriously doubt its anywhere near standard.

A evo 7/8 weighs about 1600kg dry weight so probably near 1675kg

1600!!!! my friends evo 4 rs only weighs 1200. Im truely shocked they are so heavy.

They are absolute power houses, but Id rather have a caterham CSR, can get them for around 40k brand new!

Lol.. Im not gutted Martin, i knew it would be faster. More shocked at how much faster.
Like teasing a kitten with a toy mouse, then when he bites, you take the toy away and hide it in the cupboard.

Ps, im not built for fight clubs.. at 5'6" 95kg... Im as flexible as a log.

Edit: mite be a Fq340 345bhp standard.... i think the 360s were on the EVO9s and 10s

My freind got one evo 8. The one in picture is an evo 7 with many cosmetic mods.
Evo is indeed a toy, soooo much space for modification and improvement and its a good bhp/$ car.
It is lighter and the 4wd system is different, evo oversteers.
The engine is so well built to take many upgrades and still reliable, but you cant live with an evo evryday, its more a race car lol
Different car types evo vs S3 is not fair at all

I didn't launch off the lights as I wasn't sure if he would bite but he went for it as was 1/2 a car length in front so I put my foot in and pulled past him in second continuing to pull away... guessing it was a fairly std one though as my car isn't performing at her full potential at the moment but his face was a picture

A guy down the road from me has a 360, saw it just after I bought my S3 and went past him at 70. Looked like he didn't even change down to come steaming passed. He was sat on his drive with a cup of tea by the time I got home!

I just love poking fun at them myself.... Comes from the days of having a 200 BHP, stripped out Vauxhall Corsa B. People used to laugh at me at the lights with my bodykitted Chav Mobile, and then I used to skin them, and laugh back!

Yeah, the good old C20XE Redtop. It was a bit special though - it had a Group N chip from Courtenay Sport, 4 branch and a really lary set of cams inside. That car was good fun, but I moved on and up from that! Had looooads of cars since that.

It's on Pistonheads for sale at the moment actually, looking poorly. Feel like buying it back for a weekend play thing. My mate has just bought one with a 320 BHP C20LET inside. And that thing is scary. LOL.

Anyway, stop making me think about the old days! I was only 18 then!

I wouldn't be seen dead in it now really, it would have to be toned down a lot!
