Ok, I'm going to get my tints done next week, But I am undecided..................:slap:

Help me decide please :)

Rears are being done. The tinter has recommended 20% for this. However, I am not sure if this is going to be to dark. What does the oem tints come in at?

Also, swaying back on forwards on the fronts. Now I know it is illegal for front tints, however, IF I get the fronts done, it will only be a very light tint

I'm undecided if having just the rears done looks odd, or not. I suppose I could get rears done first, and then decide later about the fronts, but it will be more expensive this way.

I have been quoted £200 for doing the rears. Speaking to the company, they sound very thorough. All done in a nice clean workshop, with a good quality film. He also told me that they will file the edges of the glass on the edges so the film will cover to the top and over,to ensure it doesn't pull when closing window fully etc. :blahblah1:

I need to decide what I am doing so I can get it done and stop dithering.........:rockwoot:

think ive got 20%'s i know theyre the darkest before van style tints

you decide mate

£200 is alot!!!!!!! :O

for my past cars ive paid maximum £110 and it was flawless no bubbles anything top quality.

I like the look of the 20% i was thinking of getting this all round as it doesnt look over the top and looks OEM.

Has anyone got any more pics? :D

£200 does sound very OTT even from someone from Scotland! I always payaround £130 with my discount from my guy, but he works for BMW & Range Rover tinting all their brand new cars.

Front tints are NOT illegal, just the tinter has to test the windows first before applying a tint..

The law is that you can have 30% maximum tint on the front side windows allowing 70% of light through, on the front windscreen you can have 25% tint allowing 75% of light through.

On the back Windows you can have anything (i think) I had 90% tint on my first car never had a problem and ive never heard of any1 have a problem with this.

In other words 20% is legal all round :icon_thumright:

remember guys I have a sport back, so 2 extra panels in the rear to do.

In regards to the price, I am quite limited to whom I can get to do it, as there is only one local 2 me.

Does anybody know any mobile tinting companies that are in my area and are any good. (norfolk)

200 isnt too bad for 5 windows tbh, see if they will do you a better deal if you strip the door cards for them scottie

haha tricks of the trade scottie youll maybe get 20 quid off in which case its starting to get into a competative price i get mine done for 120 for 5 windows, but thats due to the amount of work ive had done there and send there :p same privilages with my paintshop and i always strip everything for them, saves them breaking any clips too

Shame you're so far up as I've used on now 5+ cars a company in Surrey, very very good & pricewise not so bad either.

I went as dark as poss without being limo black on rears, did rear window aswell & fronts minimally, not been pulled to date on all those cars aswell.

Scottie, I paid £120 for my rear windows. I had 'Dark Smoke' which is meant to be the same shade as factory tint. Looks brill, I can get some pics if you want?

54 sportback, That is stupendous. A great help indeed!

I doff my hat to you............

Scottie, mine are quite dark with the fronts a tad lighter. Dont really like it when the fronts aren't done as it can look too stark against the ones done (just personal preference) When I had my A6 done, was 5 fronts, rears, back and rear quarters and I paid £150, fantastic job too but a deal cos we had the 2 cars done!

Depends who is doing the tints , they should be able to advise on shades and 200 notes sounds ok to me obviosly the cheaper the better but for those who think 200 is expensive u should get a quote from pentagon then u will know what expensive is

Now that's a good price :)

I reckon the guy I am speaking to will want around £300 to do the lot including the fronts...........:(

It's just that most people on here, when asked, seemed to have paid a lot less than what have been quoted.
And knowing how fussy most are, everyone has seemed happy with the job they got.

I am going to have a good look about I think.

The £200 sounds good, dont be put off but do shop around as best you can. Once done its worth the money.
