Just had a rolling road on my 190 Quattro and came out at 154bhp.

No fault codes recorded and the only engine mod is the Forge Split-R but set to full recirc.

So my immediate thoughts are to change the Air Mass Meter and turn the N75 Valve back to normal. Anything else anyone can think of ?

Also anyone know the part nos for the Air Mass Metter and Valve?

When the car was on the dyno, did you use vag-com to log the maf & other sensors? I just had my B5 done today and vag-com was used to log the maf and a few other sensors, the log files were then exported into another program to produce the graphs. It was interesting to the what air the ECU required & what was being reported by the MAF. Thankfully my results were OK, however they showed me the log of another A4 they did that day which you see the maf giving the incorrect airflow to ECO so the car was down on power.

nah this was a dyno day for charity so not too much going. Good guys though the people at power engineering in uxbridge were really good. but sadly didnt have time to do anything else other than look for faults.

How much was your other car down on power? in the leon a new maf made about 5bhp difference is it normal for it to make up to 35?

They didn't say, but from the graph, it was showing approx 50% difference from what the ECU is requesting and how much the maf stated it was providing.

ahh

MAFs look pricey though. Grrr whats so special about it that it requires 100 quid more to produce one for a BEX engine.

154 wasn't the wheel power was it? Just a quick check! My only thought is, you'd surely notice a missing 35bhp without a rolling road.

maybe never had it lol.

Im not great at noticing power :) especially atm im in dissertation and final exams for my degree so driving like a granny to save fuel etc etc could easily pass me by.

Defo Fly power. FYI torque was spot on at 188lb/ft

Ah fair play fella, fingers crossed you get it sorted!

mate is your car remapped.cos if it is it might ave lost the map this happened on my mates mk5 golf the other day..

its a 190 and pushing 154, if its remaped then im missing 80bhp!!! lol

i see ave to spend more time reading posts instead of a quick glance.lol

I stole your 35bhp.Soz mate - you aint having it back though....:bye:
I had to change my MAF today which cost me £68 with exchange and there is defo a difference in power but i knew it was lacking anyway hence why I changed it.
Have you tried disconnecting yours and giving it a blast??see how it drives without it...

68 not bad! from audi?

It was from GSF mate. I didnt realise there was a few different variations of MAF's till I got there.Had to whip mine off whilst there so they gave me the right one.
Some have paid £48 with exchange.worth a go eh!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it 190ps (140Kw) and not bhp?
Audi uses ps or Kw in their brochures and ads.

your right as 190 bhp is actually 141.683 kw, but theres not a whole heap of difference which is why people dont tend to worry to much .

1bhp=0.987ps just in case :icon_thumright:

Worried for you mate, mine feels low on power anyway, Just doesnt compare to my 190bhp Golf. i did a 0-60 and it came out at same as what Audi says for a 190bhp!

Cant even get it too spin the wheels with traction control off!!! is this normal for the quattro??? maybe mine too is missing 35bhp!!!!

Really hope you get it sorted!

Mine used to spin the wheels, as i said all the torque is there but power is down :(

im just trying the obvious things end of the day if worse comes to worse ill just big turbo it. My plans originaly were 350-400bhp turbo kit anyhow. Or even replace the engine with a 5.0 Supercharged one from work.

mmm I am more concerned now. Maybe I am too scared to push it as I have only had it for a month! but I turn the traction control off and dump the clutch and it just grips and goes! Think I may have to put mine on the rollers!! :detective2:

Hope you get yours sorted, keep us all informed!

Out of interest is there anything else people would be looking at to cause this. Any settings on the rollers/car that could show problems with the 4wd system?

Anything else in the engine that might be causing this but not showing a fault.

Have you logged your MAF readings on Vagcom, as it can read poorly without throwing a code.!

Yours should be what? around 150 GS?

How does one get this cag com thing? Ive seen it in action and quite fancey a go with it. Guide?

1.8t will want around 170g/s air. i spent many hours logging my old Leon Cupra. A dead MAF will make a huge difference to the engine. Take it for a blast up a length of dual carriage way, unplug the MAF and do it again. if it feels in any way better, then your MAF is dead or worse giving spurious readings. Don't worry this is safe, as without a MAF, the engine runs on known safe values, so will not blow up. Mine was down when Piper had it for exhaust development, it was mapped at the time so should have been about 215bhp, it struggled to produce 110 and wouldn't pull past 4k. New MAF, exhaust completed and the MAP tweaked to suit, and suddenly its up at 237bhp and 270 lb/ft torque.

A 190 BHP car will want 152 GS of air. Your Cupra wanted more due to it prducing more power, lets not confuse the poor man.lol

What you need to do is either buy the fully fledged version from NHN for arounf £200 odd or buy an Ebay special lead with an old version of VAGcom for £15 or find a member close to you that can do it and a straight road, as it needs to be ran from 2k revs in 3rd to redline in 3rd really without hesitation to get a clear reading

Hey hey hey im a design engineer for Jaguar, im not easily confused by this lol. Just needed a round about way of asking for a link to get some 200 quid software for free if you know what i mean.

Do you have the required cable?

I have heard certain torrent sites have it listed, but obviously i cannot varify that as it would be wrong.

The free shareware and legal version can be had from Roos-tech themselves, as can a $99 license to cover a std ebay cable

It's not the software, you can download the latest version direct from ross tech web site, the ross-tech cable acts as a dongle for the software. I've seen hacked versions around, however I believe that the firmware on the genuine cable is required to communicate to certain modules. I would also never trust a hacked version of software, as you may end up with a dead module if you try and recode a module, god know what values it's transmitting!

There was a guy on this forum site with a 190 quattro s-line (HIGHTOWER) and went to one of the chip and spin rolling road days in Bromsgrove, his was also down on power (i believe 160 ish) and when they checked it out, it had the wrong map on it. They re-mapped it to 218BHP.

I have heard that a few places offer a 24 hour re-map that reverts back to standard after 24 hours, but if you read the small print it does not revert back to your original map, but their "STANDARD" map, hence you could have your car mapped from the original 190 BHP to 220BHP and after 24 hours could revert back to a 153 or 160 bhp map.................

awesome im assuming this can be accessed with vag com to find out. does the A4 have multiple memory banks i.e perhaps if i select a different bank the original map is there.

Right i got the VAG Com setup and done some logging on the M4. the g/s on the maf reading on block 02 doesnt seem to make much more than 139 g/s Im not sure whether this means its not getting the right air or the maf is reading wrong someone help me decifer.

whats the calculation trying to understand this here.

I am a newbie around here so this may be cobblers, but surely the published BHP is at flywheel without waterpump, alternator, power steering, aircon etc and doesn't a rolling road reading have all these drag factors deducted plus transmission losses which can come to 20% or so of "published" output ?

the rough figure to go by is, G/S divided by 0.8. so 139 G/S /0.8 = 173.75 BHP all things being equal, as power is proportionate to the amount of air being drawn by the engine, as more air means more fuel which = more power.
