Having spotted a thread over in the a3 section talking about free MOT's from Audi I went onto their website and registered for a free one at my local dealer. Took the car in today and after an hour of reading their papers, using their wifi and drinking their coffee they gave me a 12 month ticket for it and all for nowt!!

If you know your car and are pretty confident that it'll pass then get signed up, got to be worth a go to save you 50 quid :)

Heres the link to the site...

Good find. I suppose it's worth it as long as they don't barrage you with marketing BS.

Any idea how long it lasts?

This seems to be a constant offer!

I registered in july last year and printed the page off to take with me when i book my car in next month!

You get 12 months from registering to use the MOT offer.

I took advantage of this last year and I printed another voucher off last week for this year just in case they decided to remove it!

Yes, this was posted on here early last year. I had my free MOT in August - no problems saved 50 quid and they even cleaned the car for me! Haven't heard from Audi since - so don't worry about being bombarded with junk mail or spam

ive signed up to this last month too, but mines not due till Nov!

it does say something about paying £50 and it will cover a certain amount should your car fails and requires work carried out.

not bad either

I had a courtesy call the next day asking if all was OK and was I happy with the service, told them it could've been a bit cheaper ;)

I've just registered mine again ready for next year LOL :)

I did mine in February last year. I got a call from my local dealer last week saying that my MoT was due sooon and if I wanted them to do it again. I asked if it was free and they said yes.
Result, I say

Hey guys I had a free one last year and passed no problems, so ive just re-registered and will be getting it FOC again this year result ;-)

Hi Everyone,
I registered last year to recieve my free mot,
The car past with no faults (thank goodness)
I've tried to re-register this year and it says that my car is already registered,
Has anyone else had this problem or is there a way round it?
Thanks in advance
Matt

I take it the catch here is that if there is work to do, then Audi will charge you their expensive prices rather than just an independant garage? I am tempted by this also, hmmmmm. I must admit, it's nice to hear so many good stories from it. I was expecting everyone to say Audi failed all cars :faint:

the free mot offer i dont think you can better but the offer of £50 payment has a few conditions to watch out for, ie car has to be less than 7 yrs old and under 100 000 miles, so im out. check the website for details

even if it fails, just walk away and do the work yourself/get it done cheaper elsewhere, the retest is half price so will only cost you 25 quid anyway...

That's even for a retest at a garage that didn't do the original test?

True, and a damn good point you make too! Think I need to go print off my free voucher.

I registered to claim my free MOT a few months ago. Check out the link now.... now you have to have it serviced by them, to qualify. Mine is going in tomorrow for free MOT, will I need to have it serviced I wonder???????........ I'll let you know

Likewise with my S3. Lady driver before me took the £50 option, ARBs needed doing at around £900 so she was charged £170 odd. Not bad I guess and retained the full ASH.

Hi guys, Had the free MOT, a complementry valet (car cleaned inside and out) and a complementry vehicle health check......I was expecting a massive bill and was preparing to walk out but no, it was all free!! ....nice one Audi!
but now the catch.....my car failed the MOT, on emmisions and a 2" cut to the inside of my tyre, and the health check came out with £2140 worth of required jobs! yeah right!
To be fair the sales man wasnt too pushy, he talked me through the MOT failier and the "required jobs". He wanted £99 for an emmisions service and £290 for 2 new front tyres to pass the MOT. I shook his hand, took my keys and left. £400 for a free MOT, sorry, eh eh.
Next day I went and got a nearly new part worn fitted for £40, changed my airfilter for £12 and put in some fuel additive for £7.99 then found a back street garage that passed the MOT no probs for £40. £100 later and Jobs a good'n.

Hardly a fair comparison is it?

A free MOT, car clean and no obligation healthcheck from Audi trained techs vs a back street garage with minimal overheads testing a car that you had already tweaked based on advice from Audi. Don't think there's much doubt about which garage gave you the best value.

It's a promotional offer from Audi designed to get existing owners into the Audi dealers to build up a longer term relationship which may hopefully lead to a future car sale or ongoing maintenance work.

I think your story highlights why the offer has been amended so that the you now only get a free MOT if you have the car serviced by them at the same time i.e. if you are not willing to pay for any Audi servicing, or even a new tyre, you are unlikely to be buying another car from them anytime soon and so there is little point in using up expensive workshop resources doing free MOT's for owners where they see no scope for making them longer term Audi customers?

Just another positive tick for this offer. My car was in for an hour this morning and was given a clean bill of health all for free.

I had a chunk out of a tyre that I thought would definitely get flagged but no they never even mentioned it. Oh and my side skirt was drooping a small amount in the middle under the car and they applied new tape to hold it straight...for free! (Not that it was ever a MOT issue)

So its worth giving it a crack, mind you my car has only done 32k miles so I would hope it wouldnt fail...
