Turbo upgrade :)

Lee: What is a bosch "red top" injector? Part numbers or the car they came from is more useful, as the same color is used on lots of injectors.

Yeah sorry, I've been a bit nonspecific. The injectors are Saab 9000 turbo red top injectors (you recommended them Aragorn remember??). Not got the part number to hand but I'll post it later.

Just ordered turbo to manifold bolts, turbo to exhaust outlet studs, turbo to exhaust outlet nuts and an oil drain flange with barbed end. That lot came in at £53 delivered.

Waiting for a few oil feed components from Earl's too.

I have been thinking about getting bigger diameter intake hoses (bigger than I bought for the other Garrett) as the inlet on this turbo is a fair bit bigger but I think I'll just stick with these ones and get a reducer to fit to the turbo inlet. The main reason for not being too worried about increasing the diameter is that all of the FMIC pipework is 50mm/51mm anyway so I can't see that there will be much to gain (cheers Mark lol).

Downpipe cut, marked up and ready to be welded.

Note the themed alignment marks lol

Finally got the correct oil feed connectors, adapter and oil drain.

I'm nearly ready to bolt it all together (I think..)

Having said that, i'm hoping i can run my V8 on a single 2.5" pipe, so perhaps its a useful demonstration if yours makes 300hp on a 2.5" exhaust!

I've done a bit of research and there are a fair few 200SXs running 2 1/2" exhausts with identical turbos to mine which are producing around 300HP so I'm confident(ish).. GULP!!

Revo specify 2.5" Exhaust for there GT28 file. A GT2871r will push 400hp with the right supporting mods so 2.5" should be plenty.

Hell Im running 24psi on my 71r with stock exhaust system with decat :)

cool

A8 runs two 2" pipes right thru. I've not really got the room for a twin pipe system on the defender so i'm going to Y it down into a single pipe. 3" would have been ideal, but the stock TD5 system is 2.5", and it would save me some cash at least initially if i can hook it up to the stock system!

Bit of an update.

I have had to make a spacer plate as there wasn't enough clearance for the new turbo to bolt flush to the exhaust manifold without the turbo housing touching..

This little lot all need welding together to make a downpipe to fit the Garrett 5 bolt turbo flange..

I am waiting for an adapter to allow me to use the oil feed that I already have but it's an odd 7/16 x 24 TPI for the turbo and then an M14 to fit the oil feed..

A few studs and some increased diameter silicone hoses and I think it'll ready to bolt on!

any updates? where did you get you oil feed and also the fitting you mention? also how costly were they? cheers

I will hopefully be collecting the downpipe next week and then it's about ready to bolt on (I think??)

The oil feed is a custom made one which was originally designed to bolt to the old Garrett that I was going to fit; I've utilized this by making an adapter with components from Earl's and GB Enterprises as the two turbos have totally different threads and seats (links)..

A few places will make you a custom oil feed but I'd definitely get quotations first as they can be pricey.

I must've spent the best part of £100 just on aluminium connections for the oil feed/drain and that doesn't include the feed pipe as that came with the old turbo

oh dear, thats twice what my turbo cost lol i'll see what i can find on the old bay lol cheers

I know mate, the cost just runs away.. I've spent probably 3 - 4 times the cost of the turbo on components to make it fit (and work) properly!!

hello

I need yours help

my car is audi A4 1.8 Turbo quattro AEB engine (from japan 75 000 km) and I need engine upgrade.

I have intercooler upgrade and parts from audi TT 2001 225 hp: ( K04 turbo, MAF, 380 cc injectors, N75)

I know my cars exhaust manifold and TT is differents but its not problem.

I need best programs for K04 turbo upgrads.

advice me wich one programs is best? (Giac, APR, Revo.....)

I think Giac pc- 16 is good.
my ecu number is
0 261 203 550/551
8DO 07 557.

You won't get any of those programs on that old ECU, you will need to find somewhere that can do a custom map to suit the add ons assuming you are able to orientate them correctly to connect them up and fabricate the required pipeworks

yes

I need programs but I dont fine, can you help me fines this programs? web address ..... contacts?

Bit of an update..

I've got my downpipe back all welded up (pic to follow) and ready to bolt to the turbo (thanks to Byzan A4 :icon_thumright:).

I now need:-

Manifold to head gasket.
A few more silicone hoses.
A replacement (angled) oil drain connection to turbo as the straight one is catching the actuator arm!
Manual boost controller.
Another ME3 ECU as I sold my other on ebay the other day!?!?

Hopefully I'll get it all fitted over the next couple of months.

any further updates? quick question... do you(or anyone) happen to know what size the lambda probes are on these motors? havn't got access to mine untill saturday and need to order an o2 boss for my downpipe :D

I have a spare one if you want. will PM you

Yeah it's an M18 boss that you want for the lambda sensor.

No updates yet as I get married the week after next so it's a bit hectic at the moment. When I get back after the wedding it'll be full steam ahead.

steam cools after getting married.......

I have been mostly doing this..

..Now I seem to be suffering from a faulty bank account!? I top it up and then next time I look it's empty

However it is my intention to get back to the turbo again over the next couple of weeks.

pirates of the carribean set at Disneyland? :)

I want to get the exhaust manifold studs, nuts, washers etc on order. Can anybody confirm that the correct part number for an exhaust manifold stud is N 0445203 ? (AEB engine)
