GTI SPRING FESTIVAL - SANTA POD – SUNDAY 11TH APRIL 2010

thought the show was a bit of a let down to be fair, i only went to look at audis as 'veedubs' dont interest me in the slightest, and had it not been for the asn stand audi numbers would have been limited to the teens, maybe even single figures :( (although silvery/grey rs4 with white rims gave me wood)

dont think we had a great spot for our stand either, was all a bit cramped due to volume of other cars in the area couldnt really set the stand out nicely, shame as we had some of the best looking motors there :)

i didnt really get chance to talk to anyone as much as i wanted, got a bit carried away with running the 1/4 mile lol
my best time was 13.56 seconds which i think is quite respectable, wanted to get my reaction time down as it was .5 of a second but wasnt going to push the car too much

had a mooch round the other stands, got some grub, watched the strip for a while then come back and everyone had gone so decided to do one too, was sick of looking at golfs by that time anyway to be honest ;)

I decided not to come down as I couldn't get confirmation on the stand (my fault as i left it to the last nanosecond). Hope to meet up with you guys at a future event.

we have to tag along to GTI Spring Festival because of limited shows for four rings but Audis in the Park would be more of what your looking for,I personally like the mix and enjoy seeing what people have done as some mods can be applied to my car.As for meeting fellow members if you do your own thing and run out of time then thats life maybe next time.
good time by the way and your car does look better in the flesh,I have a few pics and my mate has some rolling ones from the convoy will post them up once sorted them out and removed plates

yer i was thinking audis in the park too mate, no golfs to offend my eyes :) plus seems more of a stand around to chat and be social kind of meet, more laid back and relaxed atmosphere, pod is good but can be hectic at times

it was my first time doing sprints so wanted to get a decent go at it, but got held up a few times for cars spewing various bits over the track, wouldnt be in a rush to do it again now ive done it the once, rather do a track day :eyebrows:

ahhhh me and my mate was wondering what you were doing on the m'way ;) was loving the fact my car was looking so gleaming

Yes it is and plenty of new/old Audi's around,I found the day just went quick, was a good day.

And this is why I don't fancy ever doing the pod,its expensive and why do they need to hurry to get cars back up the strip when they already have your money whilst your sat their admiring the rear of another car for ages

Yes was trying to get some good shots but I left my camera in the boot :tocktock: so had to use Ashes camera phone

i had a good day, got a very sore face now lol, didnt get to meet everyone but maybe next time.

cars were looking great, i to got bored of seeing mk4 golfs lol but was some nices ones

yesss ive always wanted to be cool :yahoo:

Good to meet some faces today. Was a good turn out. I did think that the show would have been bigger in general though, but I wouldnt say it was a waste.

Got home about a half hour ago, so was a good run home.

Until the next one :)

Podface is the new look

Couldn't agree more... I for one will be sporting my podface for some time and fully expect it to ripen in time for work on Tuesday so that my work colleagues may entertain themselves throughout the day at my expense...

Good to meet up with ASN members new and old... Loved your car Kev... :icon_thumright:

Just got back from the Pod, feeling the windburn bigtime! The ASnet stand was the highlight for me, all of the cars looked really tidy. It was good to see some S3's on the 1/4 mile too. Didn't get a chance to meet anyone but recognised some of the cars.

Yeah I thort it was a good day - then again only took me an hour to get there and got back om time to take the bike out in the sun!

Not too sure how it managed to be cold and I seem to be sunburnt into the bargain - face matches the car now!

Nice to meet you all - What's before AITP (8th Aug??).

Jordan - yeah I think the wheels were a hit.....shouldn't have parked so close to you!!!

Cheers guys for a good day, it was ****** freezing at times though , nice to meet a few of you

Had a great day out. It was nice to meet people and have a few runs down the strip. My best time for the day was 13.7 with a trap speed of 103.55 MPH which I am very pleased with.

Well guys gotta say, what an amazing turn out. You did ASN proud thank you all. We are so sorry we couldn't make it but between our dog nearly losing her life and our hands being mauled, there was alot going on!!
Thanks again to all those that made an effort the cars look amazing. You did ASN proud again :)

OMG !!!!!! That thing was a rocket, f**k me don't know what he'd done to that but fair play to him it was something specail.
Wasn't he from a stall or am I mistaken? I'm sure that was parked up by the Carbon Fibre Stall

Yeah, the Golf was awesome. I'd love to find out what you have to do to a 30 year old car to make it go like that. It was parked up near a stand for most of the day, it had something line A+K Accident Repairs on the winscreen.

Good turn out and nice to have chat with some of you. As for there being to many golfs you have to remember its aimed at the veedub scene, and there were some pretty nice motors there but we we put on a good display of tidy motors (I now want 18's) looking forward to future meets. Santa pod doesnt really have much more to offer than the 1/4 straight, show and shine and general club stands. There were some good cars running down the strip too.

Yeah something Like that was written on it, amazing how some enthusiats do there car like, I thought mine was clean but dang some people even cleaning there's there . .

where was everyone else bit windy for my liking also it took almost the same time to get to our stand from the entrance, than from london to Santa Pod!!!!!! this has totally put me off to go there again. AITP, ADI and E38 where much better the firecar was AWESOME though that made the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got there at bang on 8am and took us about 15mins to get in and parked

I loved the wheels

Cheers

At least you didn't clean your car the night before, take everything out (including jackets) and forget to take one in the morning!!!!

I had to borrow a Land Rover fleece from someone (sorry, can't remember your name)

were they the black with bluey tint?? if so there were wicked probably one of the best wheels of the day imo :icon_thumright:

Lava grey base coat (same as the car) with a purple pearlescent over the top

Cheers :)

Good to meet you Dean

Ye next time i'll make sure i leave a mahoooooosive gap, and have a sign with a big arrow that points to my wheels :)

Everyone that walked past and saw them, either pointed and commented or took a picture, if people didn't see the wheels, they weren't bothered about the car :(

Was a good day, nice meeting peeps!

N8, thanks again for your help mate! Was good having you for the weekend as well

A3Glenn....gave me some nice cleaning stuff too. Top Bloke.

Wouldn't share his crisps tho!!

I really enjoyed the day and thought our stand was one of the best. I've got 'Pod face' too lol.

IFAIK the MK1 Golf is owned by AK Bodycraft, it's been around for a while but gets quicker for every show!

Nice to catch up and meet some new faces :icon_thumright:

Roll on Inters!!

I know what you mean. I was thinking about asking to put mine on the stand, but glad I didn't now because mine would have the dirtiest there by far. My aim is to have it in A1 condition in time for Audi's in the park.

I had an enjoyable day. Got there very late though due to friend's less than perfect morning! (arrived 10am and then queued till 11.30!)

Thanks for saving me a place chaps! Was good to see you again.

I got PodFace too. :icon_thumright:
