Had a quick search but couldnt find a decent tutorial with pics preferebly to remove the front bumper, mines a 2004 if it makes any difference..

Thanks

As far as i remember

3 on top of the bumper that you'll see when you open the bonnet
both parts of both wheel arches need to come off
1 bolt facing towards the front of the car in the arches that needs to be undone
then you need to get underneath, remove all the ones holding the undertray to the bumper
and then there's 2 on each side that face up into the car

is a real mission to do

Right cheers, thats a ******* like! going to attempt it tommorow aswel as heighten the front of my car

done it before to retrofit my xenons. took me ages but it was the first time i ever had done anything like this and i still managed it.
sayin that i did have use of a ramp in a garage.
these are the instructions i followed with help in brackets at the bits i got stuck at.
1) Remove the bumper:

a) Remove the three bolts holding the top of the grill between the headlights. ( I left these in til the end to make sure it didnt fall off before i wanted it to)
b) Remove all the bolts securing the bottom edge of the bumper to the undertray (about seven or so... just follow the bumper around)
c) On each side of the car, inside each wheelarch:
Remove the three bolts holding the wheelarch liner to the back of the bumper. (The ones along the bumper furthest forward from the bottom up to about a third of the way up)
Peel back the wheelarch liner where the bumper meets the front wing.(Just be brave and pull the liner as far back as you can, found it very tight , could only get a couple of inches just enough to get tools in) Inside, there's a "push in plastic bolt" securing the wing to bumper , with a plastic pin pushed in the middle of it, securing it. Use a small allen key or tiny screwdrive to push out the plastic pin which will allow the plastic bolt to be pushed out.(mine was slightly different. was just a plastic bolt that wedged in, took me ages to figure out at this bit that i just needed to get a pair of pliers and pull it out) If you follow the joint of the wing & bumper around to the front of the car (inside the wheelarch liner), there's another hex bolt that needs to be removed from inside the wheelarch liner, that goes through the metal body work and secures the bumper from behind. ( I got a socket with an extension on it and put it through the small gap til i felt the bolt. its a good bit in the wheelarch almost below the headlight itself.)

That should free up the bumper. The sides are a push fit into securing clips under the front wing, so you next need to spring the sides of the bumper outwards, away from the wing and out of their securing clips. (Make sure you have got all the bolts out at this point and the three on top if you have left them in.)

That should allow you to pull the bumper forward away from the car and rest it on the floor. It will still be connected to the car by the foglight wires, but you can disconnect and remove the bumper altogether if you want to at this stage (By unclipping the foglight wires).

And just do the same in reverse to get it back on.
I managed it and was a total noob to that kind of thing.
hope this helps

Yep - they look lik my words from my thread that covered retrofitting Xenons into my 2004 S-Line. (That's exactly how I did it both times)

I also covered the front wing with masking tape above where the bupmer clips to it (the bit ahead of the wheel and behind the indicator) so that if the bumper scratched over it when you pulled it out, it didn't mark the paintwork.

Also - as you have to bend both the wheel arch trim and the bumper sides as you remove them, the warmer the weather when you do it the better.
Not the best job to attempt with cold brittle plastic.....

would anybody like to take a pictures from both sides of the car and the front then draw little arrows pointing to where all the screw are, that would help me, lol

Done! took me about 3 hours, fitted my xenon headlights seeing as though no one would buy them :) I get the warning off Dipped Headlights out when i start the car but it goes away. Will it just need Vag com to get rid of the warning or?

Looking forward to it lewi!

You gone sline yeah?

Starting my conversion on Monday finally! \o/ final parts, fog lamps, are set to arrive tomorrow.

One question though - I received the fog repair wires today... when I get the bumper off is it all going to become clear as to how the new S-Line fogs should be wired up? The wires look a little odd/different to what I was expecting (although Im not exactly sure what I was expecting!)

And there wont be any recoding required because of a simple fog change will there?

PS: Thanks for the guide(s) on bumper removal - perfect timing :)

No probs hellz.

You wont need any coding if you are just changing your fogs.

In regards to the wiring, I didnt have to do it as I retro'd fogs to the car, so used a kufatec loom.

TBH, I think it will be fairly obvious. It doesnt take many wires to make a light work :) I'm sure it will be self explanatory when you get the bumper of and have a look!

When I retrofitted mine they flickered when they came on and there was warnings. Vagcom sorted it fine. Thanks to Khufu who helped me with that!
