CR K04 Stage 4 Hybrid, comparison to k04

thanks for the info.. be interesting to compare notes. very interested in how you find yours.

Hi Bill,

Sorry for the delay, its been a hectic week :)

Ok this is just a taster it is not finished tuning by any stretch of the imagination... & these are just a few quick logs I made on the way home the other night as I wanted to get something posted up.

Still very much a work in progress, & will be testing various boost profiles to see what works best.

Thats some impressive logs. Seeing approx 300 bhp there, and 22.5 psi. Liking it.

This is shaping up to be an interesting project. I will be following this as I am slowly gearing up for a hybrid myself.

Thanks :)

To be honest I was a bit hesitant to post logs as our R&D has really only just started, & this file revision was only for testing with bigger injectors.

Still as long as everyone understands that parameters may not reflect our intended finished targets, I don’t mind keep posting logs made during testing until we reach a final happy medium.

This turbo certainly has potential, just a shame that the oe exhaust manifold is very quickly going to become a major obstacle in realizing max possible safe gains.

I am going to try & make time to visit one of our associates soon & see about getting a tubular mani fabricated, but I will dyno it with oe manifold & finished mapping first.

Cheers
Morgan

nice initial results morgan.. many thanks for sharing.
i see your n75 control us very flat duty cycle. 1bar actuator you said i think (CR norm)
promising indeed.

100% with you on the manifold restriction.
egt's will soar rapidly beyond the 900'c

this S3 is reassmbled now, so will be able to run it shortly (got a castle combe race to get ready for for monday now), so early next week i will be logging this one.

i'll post up logs also.
many thanks
bill

I cant wait to pick my car up know been itching to get it back. Just need to order the intercooler once i know if i have enough penny's in my bank

Id have like to have popped down and see it my self but being an hour and half away was a bit far to travel.

Yeah, a long old stroll that mate. Still, makes the anticipation greater, and ultimately will make you happier when you come down and get her!

initial drive and the existing map sure wont run this turbo.. instant charge over pressure limp mode, and more timign pull than I would want to see.
saw 206g/s at 4200rpm tho.. so its got some flow in it..

the intake is screaming (cavitating) on spool, so a decent sized silicon TIP is essential to help feed the thing.
full boost at 3krpm, so its eager enough..

more as thing develop

Your wallet my be itching but mines crying haha. Plan is to hopefully pick the car up on sunday and drive it home like a granny then once my wallet has recovered (next payday) order the intercooler and fit itall then drive back down and get it mapped:hubbahubba:

Sounds like a plan to me dude. An FMIC is a must with this as you already know. It should go well once mapped up, looking forward to seeing results.

Yes if i had known i was going to this stage before it went in i would have ordered it before as it was a last ditched idea to go hybrid. The car will be sitting on my drive at home and get it ready for the cooler and other bits including the oil catch tank i am getting from the group buy on here. I would buy the cooler know but its the gf's 25that the end of this month and if i had no money left to take her out well i can safely say id have no balls left so the cooler will have to wait unfortunately

Try telling the missus that you've just blown the ENTIRE holiday budget buying a broken car.....

Hmmmmm. Popular I was not.

they just contribute to produce offspring.. an even bigger drain on car modding budgets!

You're telling me.

Mine already likes horses, so I'm in the sh*t!

Then again, the same can be said for girlfriends/wives!

nothing more to do on it steve until its got the other parts on it.. n75 electrically disconnected, as the map in it drops straight into limp mode with +ve boost deviation. when i map it next time it will behave itself. turbo is too fruity for the map in it currently, who's evers it is

>2550mb at 3krpm on its spool and you can hear the compressor cavitate from the small, soft, oe, limp tip.

regards
bill

Thats not bad G/S Flow on that log at all Steve. Although that is possibly THE shortest log I have ever seen (And I'm not known for my VAG COM logs being lengthy!) lol.

Yeah i had the gf in the car with her holding the laptop and as i got into 4th gear told her to hit log so was all done quickly. Im looking forward to picking it up on sunday luckily the gf will be following in her corsa 1L so i wont be tempted to try and boot it. As Bill has said to me we will have to look into FPR and injectors when we go for the stage 3 mapping session hopefully the second weekend in May

this will be interesting to see how things go with that hybrid. Will keep an eye on this thread...:icon_thumright:

Well I have to thank Bill for a job well done! although not mapped jet and having the N75 unplugged you can still feel a nice pull. With a safe 105 mile trip home i did an average of 36.1 MPG mind i had to keep it slow as the gf was following in her little corsa but not a sign of any problems not even a warning light. Only thing i notice was the exhaust rattled a bit but that will just be down to the downpipe and cat swap so a little adjustment will stop that. So the next stage is to let my wallet recover and then order the intercooler and get it fitted then take it back down to Bill for mapping. I think i will wait until he has his rolling road installed so all the work can be done there!

I'd say your a happy man speedy well wear,What other mods have you done on the car?

Yes very happy! So far the car has had a green cotton filter, Miltek non res exhaust a Forge Divertor valve and an unknown map. Then everything Bill has done turbo, down pipe+cat and Rods. To be done are Oil catch tank from group buy, FMIC, tidy up N249 and hoses oh and get the led side light bulb out of the Pass headlight that fell in a while back. Then its back to Bills for mapping, air filter and possibly 4bar FPR and injectors depending on how the fueling is with the mapping.

Glad your happy dude.

So are you running on actuator pressure then if the N75 is not plugged in.

Yep its surprisingly more then when i went into limp before. Drives a lot more like a standard S3 but i was keeping it below 4000 rpm anyway!
