Get ya self some gauges, sender, and i opted for a braided hose extention. Less fiddly i think.
SDC11409.jpg

Undo the O/E sender found under the inlet manifold. just on top of the oil filter. Pull the spade connector off and get a large ring spanner on it.
SDC11416.jpg

Get some PTFE tape and apply it round ALL threads or it WILL leak oil! (unless there taperd) Replace with braided extention.

i took the front engine cover off and simply zip tied to the mental bracket. The sender fits perfectly under it. This is nice and solid and will stay there for years. (i hope)

By this time the heavans opened and i sat in the car like a gimp for the next 10 mins. I didnt get any more pics as i was doing it before it rained again. take the wipers off, remove the scuttle tray enough to access the little black box found between the steering wheel and the drivers front strut. run the wire through the rubber grommit and retreve it under your steering wheel.

Yuo will need to drop the bottom part of the dash to get to it. Fuse and power it, run it to the gauge!

i ran the skank brown wire that comes from the Sender to the gauge in side a silicone pipe. looks tidyer and wont melt.

The boost gauge i already had installed, Run the boost pipe via the same place you run the sender wire. Its up to you where you run the pipe from. DV or FPR. Power for both gauges cam from the fag lighter (for illumination) and the main power blocks under the steering wheel for constant live. :)
Simples!

not much of a write up i know. dam weather.

i likey likey mate, they do look a tad bright from the piccys, i suppose the cops could argue that they are a saftey issue/disctraction maybe but i doubt they could do anything about them, tom?

any idea if its the same setup/process on the s3 mate?

hi i'm new to this I have had the legendary oil light coming on, on my 2000 s3 (audi said its the dash). so with the help of this thread fitted a gauge. I feel the readings are a little low and that my engine may be on its way out :( what readings you getting at idle mine are as low as 0.5 bar (warm) but 3.5-4 bar cold at 2000rpm, 1.5-2.5bar warm at 2000rpm. I have fitted a new oil pump 2 weeks ago with new release valve in it, to be on the safe side. HELP please new engine sounds expensive

waiting for the plastic to fit it nice in the vent
