Cars really good but noticed after having been driving and stop to select reverse, (got DSG) then after moving back about 2 feet I hear a clunk, every time! Only once and seems to come from the front to middle-ish part of the car underneath. Never happens going forward, only when first going backwards. Is this normal with DSG?? or a problem starting to show??
thanks

I had the same problem once. Turned out it was my neighbours cat.

Second time it happened it turned out to be their dog.

I heard the same noise the other week but didn't stop to see what happened.

lol, you nutter!!! lol

perhaps it is a dsg thang, as mine doesn't do it !

So I cant comment I'm afraid

No bicyclists pressed up against your rear window, or anything???

My DSG doesn't do it... dass all I can tell ya.

Could be brakes, could be a few things, would probably need to go an alift to check some usual suspects though...

Could be a brake pad in caliper tbh as yours are 345mm iirc & I have the same setup & had similar issues until I put some 3M padding in the pad caliper location which stopped the clonking, needs the wheels of & a nose in the calipers & test for movemnet in pads.

Thank you, will check tomorrow! appreciated

lol, no cyclists lol. I'm not that bad at driving lol.

Hey guys it sounds like the mecatronics unit (gearbox control unit) gone faulty we had a shed load in a while back all complaining of the fault above and some hesitating when pulling away hope this helps

When you say we, as in dealer? If so which one & were these changed under warranty & what age of cars please?

Hiya, thanks for that. As NHN asked, were they done under warranty??? And did you mean it can also do it going forwards too??? Is this a fault that can get progressively worse??
thanks

I have the same clunking noise problem also when reversing. Notably, the clunk only occurs when applying the accelerator in reverse. If allowing my S3 to coast in reverse the clunk does not occur. As others have said, it may be a DSG type niggle as I have had this behaviour since 8 miles on the car....

Hi yeah it'll be covered under warranty providing it's in the warranty period ie less than 3 years old and under 60,000 miles with a dsg oil change done at 40,000 that's the important one I'm at my local vw dealer in the south west we had a stage not long ago where we were stacked out the door with them on all dsg models
