Help needed!..3.2Q DSG Hesitant engine ~ 2k rpm

Those nuimbers go back to 03 which was the very first...I cant believe Jonathons car is older than 03

Well if they are right then your car is too new then ! not to old. I still dont believe it because the ECU numbers finish with 2 letters and i doubt they switched to just 1 later on...

Just checked your labels Jonathon and it does end in just a B, but it's a BDB not a BMJ!

There print of my car says bmj!

So maybe a manual has just a b...

Still need a software update though!

Its not the engine code..its the other codes isnt it?

The following engine expensive devices can be updated:
022906032CA
022906032CB
022906032GH
022906032GJ

Strange mine says BDB as well!

Why are they saying mine is 022906032b ....

Your engine label matches your part number sw... Mine doesn't ...

Do you need VAGCOM to retrieve those codes? I know mines a BDB (BDB 007430 engine no.) but thats about it :S

what are we saying, even with the new cd update. it will only work on certain cars, for instance mines a march '05 manule sport back log book says engines a bmj,any idear if it's going to work on mine?

Good to here. If you park up and rev it to 1500-2000rpm can you here any popping in the exhaust at all? Just curious.

Nope, no popping or hunting. I've been following the discussion in this thread from the beginning but, as I said, there's no obvious reason why I don't see any symptoms which others obviously suffer. Usual differences such as always using 97/98 RON petrol or avoiding short journeys, have already been eliminated by others.

If its after 05 you will not have a problem anyway because the update will be pre installed

Assuming that you're referring to my reply to 3.2 Ju (above), then I've already posted that I have a DSG Sportback delivered in March 2005, engine code BMJ which was presumably built around December 2004 or January 2005. I just wish I could be confident that mine will not develop similar problems at some indeterminate time in the future.

Well the point is now Dave if it does develop a problem ( mine started at about 40k miles) you know what the fix is now.

Quite, but would it be worth my carrying out some preventive update now, or just wait until I do have problems? Decisions, decisions .....

Really annoyed now that I don't seem to be able to get an update! Do we think audi only made this one update for those ecus? Mine is the self same problem so there needs to be a solution! I.e. Another disc somewhere or one needs creating!

Back to customer services J..Keep this on the boil while you have their ear. i think this is a question for Audi GB tech dept rather than the kids in the local dealership.

I'm annoyed for ya mate, feel like you've been cheated. Agree with Paddy, you'll have to get onto Audi UK again and ask where the update is for your ECU.

Do you think a snotty e-mail back to my local dealership is worth while?! Just explaining that I am not happy with their customer service, the fact they are treating me like a muppet and the scaremongering tactics?!

I dont think it will get me anywhere but may make me feel better :)

well I am in at 1:30pm today, just vagcommed my car and got this:

Address 01: Engine Labels: 022-906-032-BDB.lbl
Part No SW: 022 906 032 CB HW: Bas isX 3
Component: MOTRONIC ME7.1.1 5604
Revision: 00000000 Serial number: AUX7Z0D6FN80JT
Coding: 0000178
Shop #: WSC 06435 000 00000

I think I am good. But look how old my software version is!

What do you guys think before I send this off........

Thanks for your assistance on this matter although I am unhappy with the customer service that Epsom Audi have shown.

I do not see the need for me to spend the unnecessary costs of an initial diagnosis when I have previously spent time and money having this problem diagnosed elsewhere. Also there should be no need for a diagnosis as the software IS the latest update for my engine.

I also believe that you are trying scaremonger tactics by implying that the update could in fact "cause far worse problems" if this is the case then why would Audi Germany release an update for exactly the same engine if it was going to cause problems?

Yours Sincerely

Coxylaad.....I would love to but dont fancy the 8hr round trip to Huddersfield when it should be a simple job for any Audi dealership to carry out!

I now use a local independent in Morden, Mastertech, but they use a Vagcom so they won't be able to upgrade your ECU. I don't think that any main dealers near us would be noticeably different than Epsom Audi, many belong to the S G Smith group who own Coulsdon Audi which used to be Croydon Audi.

I have used APS before http://www.autops.co.uk and been very satisfied with them. They also have a very good reputation amongst other contributors here and they do have the Audi diagnostic unit (forget the exact name) but they live in Brackley. At least that's not as far as Huddersfield. Perhaps giving them a ring would help; they are very responsive. Alternatively, I've seen some complimentary comments about Guildford Audi in the past but I've never had any dealings with them so I cannot comment out of personal knowledge.

juliean what is your registration?
i am at audi huddersfield now and they are being complete nob ends.

eventually got them to admit they have an update cd after 20 minutes debate, then got them to not do the diagnostics after they said they had to, now they want 105 quid to upload the software!!!!

help!! I am in mc donalds on the wifi now waiting for info. he said if he had your registration he would be able to check, otherwise its 105 quid which is a ****** joke!

lol! at the last 2 posts, nice to meet you Ian. Hope the update went OK

You cant miss him coxy, he's the one grinning from ear to ear :)

Ha ha......get your hands in yer pockets tight wad and you can have one too lol!...............just like mine AND coxy's:icon_thumright:

hey guys,
eventually got it sorted, have to say it was like pulling teeth but they eventually relented and stuck it on. Although they charged me an hours labour, twice as much as julian, and wouldnt budge. I kept an eye on my car in the workshop through the viewing window and the technician was in there for like 4 minutes max....but what do you do, they have you over a barrell.

so anyway, I now have a rock solid rev counter, and in addition over the 90 mile journey down between 75 and 85mph I was averaging 25mpg, the same journey back I averaged 30mpg.

cant complain!

I reset the ecu after i got the car back from the garage, so it may improve yet, so I will report back.

Nice to meet you Julian, lovely motor you have there !

Cheers Ian and welcome to the remap club.........good init!
Nice to meet you too. ****** dealers, it's no wonder they get a bad name. Must think were all mugs:no:
