the rear one for all its worth.

How many of you have had yours changed? iv got this slight knock from the rear of my car, for the love of chocolate i cant find what is making the knock, iv been under there with the car up on the ramps and push and pulled and crow bared everywhere for the knock, but i cant fine it, iv been told the anti roll bar could be stuffed, iv taken it off, all seems ok there, the plastic sleeves look ok, iv changed the D bushes, everything seems to be solid under there, iv even dont the drop links,

does the anti roll bar just lose its strength over time and bend more than it should after so many years and miles?

Probable not much help to your question but If you thinking of putting a new ARB on then you may aswell go for the RS4 ARB, costs around £75.00 with all the fixings and the difference in ride in amazing.tightens up the rear roll loads and makes the cornering fell alot more planted.

I upgraded to the rear RS4 anti roll bar which has made a big difference, well worth doing for the money..

Is the knocking only when you go over bumps?

I upgraded to the rear RS4 anti roll bar on my convertible which has made a big difference, well worth doing

Have you got twin rear pipes?
Had this on mine today and found the support bar between the two pipes had snapped on one side

I will look into this as a new bar for my car is £50 or so, iv been told this info before and now i will most certainly investigate this option see as you and the others are waving it at me, :icon_thumright:

yes, my car is a 2.5 TDI Quattro Sport, can you take a photo of your snapped bit ?

Mines a 1.8T so don't know if you'll have the same.

I have no photo's, but if you look underneath the rear, in the middle On my exhaust the 2 pipes come up the middle of the car then split off from eachother to go to each side of the car. Where they split out in the middle, there is a small brace bar between the 2 pipes, about 8 inches long, mine had snapped on one side, ironically after I took it to have the RS4 ARB fitted. They had to drop the exhaust off to do it so I think they may have snapped it then

The knock seems to be on take off when everything is under tension, not on bumps :detective2:

i have a knock too but its only when you set off with a bit of welly i put it down to the quattro system at the rear but the idea of the exhaust bracket broken is feasable. is yours a quattro also?
