Audi A3 SB Cluster swap with skc coding

NHN
One more issue the petrol gauge is also not working...Do I have to change the sensor????

I'm guessing your car is pre-2004? If you read NHNs thread about fitting new white cluster you will see the wiring has changed and you may need a new pump/sender, one that uses 3 wires for the fuel sender not just 2.

Thanks mate
my car is a 54 (step or oct) one....I have see NHNS thread

Woooooooooo Hoooooooooo it works like a dream oh yeah

Thanks guys for support

PS how much do you charge to change the buttons on he SAT NAV to the new style???

£50 plus ur postage costs, its no money spinner but does take time to remove all parts, change test etc etc.

He done it just as NHN said and it worked fine apart from the abs lights staying on

Yeap, abs lights up as fault but doesnt show a fault, so have to change as I advised.

Did you change your pump under rear seat?

1 wire for sender iirc, the newer cluster needs 2 wires.

Thanks mate

Yes you will need new pump then if your fuel level isnt showing.

Cool, but what about fuel level?

Sorry, what I meant is you need a pump with a sender that uses all 3 wires within the actual pump unit as new one measures resistance on both sides of the pickup point (IE live and two 'earths'). If you dont have that type of pump you will need the new pump & extra wire to the cluster making it 2 wires in total to the cluster as NHN says/did. Dont know where diesel pump/sender 3rd wire goes to as I havent looked at wiring but on petrol it goes to the pickup module.

I just change the complete pump...can't be bored with all that rewiring stuff anyways my car had the up to date wires.

Nobody can provide a detailed description on how to code the new cluster with the VAS machine yet?
I am dying to install it in my car but I don´t want to lose another 100 euros if the guy in the Audi dealer doesn´t know how to do it.

I'd say you tried to run before you could walk mate, interms of rushing out to get a cluster, some better research may of been advisable to see which facelift cluster suits your A3.

The S3 cluster is potentially wrong for your A3, you should have got an A3 cluster mate, this maybe the reason why you are having issues overall, but you should have no issues getting the skc out of either given the 8P has the same immo systems from 03 till present day, using VAS, but there's a procedure to follow.

Hi! I was looking about A3 inmos, how to identify the types used.. and as I understand, you say it's always the same, right?
I'm not worried about swaping instrument cluster, I would like swap engine ECU...

I't some long to explain all, but the most important part it's I've a pre-facelift S3, and maybe I have to use a S3 facelift ECU to allow use other equipments..
I was worried if the inmo were diferent and could have problems matching inmo of new ECU with my instrument cluster
(something doesn't it's really standard, should be impossible for the dealer!)

my instrument cluster shows this:
Code:

it's the same inmo type? both shows the same type of codes of Inmo4 challenge in ECU module
both clusters shows "VDD-024", it's a type of inmo? I heard there are different type of inmo4

thanks in advance!

With the amount you have spent you may as well take a road trip up to the UK and have the people that sorted out NHN and N8. you can get your car sorted and have a nice holiday

Ok 1st tell us what new features are you wanting to get on the newer ecu?

IMMO should be identical, given newer clusters have been fitted into cars that are 6yrs or so older.

Hi does any one know any dealer in the midlands area that can programe these clusters ????.Coventry AUDI are a waste of time.

Hi nhn have also bought new 2011 s3 clock cluster and needs coding will your vagcom work for this or will i need vas5054?

thanks

Hello, I don't know how to conect the new fuel pump. Any help?
