Also, was that strut brace an eBay one?? If so that looks well made to be fair. I've been umming and ahhing about getting the genuine one from Audi for my motor - but at £80ish vs £40ish on ebay, I just am not sure!!
 
its a Ebay jobby, fits perfectly, all adjustable, and the welds on it look sweet. Quite impressed for £40 really. i orderd it saturday and its here today.

The coilovers are made by JOM. I got the from Damian @ DPM Performace. and no i cant wait to get it all done, cars gonna be a go cart!

my socks are great aint they!! lol

I presume there's some drilling required to get it to fit then?
 
Doesnt the s3 have an upper strut brace already??...im pretty sure mine does
 
Early pre facelift cars didnt have them if my memory serves me right. I think jojo's car didnt come with one?
 
Mine deffo did have one, you can see where it once was!! lol. I hate people that do that, take something off and sell it for easy cash. What an utter **** (whoever took it off)
 
yeah i think its pre faces that dont have them as standard, was an option pack IIRC

did it make much diff to handling Alpine

They do make a massive difference. alot sharper steering. tho im going from past experience on my RS, A4 mk2 golfs and Scooby. (these were all lowered) The A3 one is not actually on yet as it started to pi$$ down. they do make a noticable difference i think. I mate try and find a rear 1 as well.

I just gone for New O/E mounts and bearings. The other bushs (ARBs wishbones and engine mounts) are all powerflex ones.

Yup, early APY car's didn't have them, later ones did though... I didn't even have the stud bits on top of the turrets where they bolt on, so drilled right through.
 
I guess a good way to know if the braces make a difference is for one of us with them as standard, takes it off for a day?? I reckon if missing youve more chance of noticing?
 
My friends just ordered JOM coilies for his Bora, hopefully fitting them in the week. How low do they go.

Getting quite excited now.. i have a house full of bits, just waiting on my silicone reducer, Heat proof Nasa like sh1t and some poly bits from DPM performance.
I think its the only thing keeping me sane since i found out im redudndent as of yesterday!
 
Where you T'ing in for the oil pressure gauge?

Be interested to hear what difference the strut alone makes.

Would there be any negative effects of installing one on a 1.6 A3? Would I need to change any parts at the same time? It's not lowered (and can't be from an insurance financial point of view)

98.9% finished the induction now. just waiting for a new simota cone (in red) and another bit of mirrored stainless steel. and my induction pipe to give it more a an air feed. I have only driven it up the road to see what it sounds like.. it is niiicee!! but will at some point get the VAG-Come gains up when someone comes round and does it for me! lol the plate on the bottom you see has been heat resist treated (what it said on sale add) plus i covered it in heat proof foil shizzle like pictured on the under side.

That looks nice and shiney, not a bad place to put the filter. How does it seem on a run does the filter stay cool in that location?
 
i have just come back from the school run. left the car running whislt she went in and got the boy. drove 1 mile to iceland waited for her to come out with milk and then drove home 2 miles. as soon as i got home i popped the bonnet. The air filter and ali pipe is STONE cold. the head sheild is warm. It hiss`s when i accelerate, (smoothly are aggressivly) and it flutters nicely too!

the car is standerd. it boosts at 10psi, spikes at 11.5. There is more push back in the seat (words of the missis) and as you know mark, she dont care about cars and she noticed a difference. I need to get vag com on it to have hard evidence. The rain didnt seem to affect it either so, so far, its doing as i hoped.

deffo improvment!
