Hi All, I am new to German Cars and have never owned an Audi Before, so please be gentle. As the title suggests i am having trouble with the lights. My Car is a A3 1.8t, 1999, AGU. I have fitted aftermarket Chrome Halo Headlights, but when i put them on Full Beam The dash lights go off..??? I cant read the speedo then. Is this normal as all the other light Functions work. I have wired them correctly with the Halos plugged in to the side lights. Any help would be Great. I have took a few pics of my mods so far, i may post them, you can tell me what you think. Thanks, Ben.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum.

I would say that you should start by reviewing your wiring as this looks like the thing that caused the issue - based on your description. Try unplugging the halos and see if this resolves the issue, then at least you'll be closer to solving this problem.

Brave move on the halos BTW - most folks on here would frown upon such sacrilege :)

Hi, Thanks for the warm welcome and quick reply. I will check tomorrow all the wiring again, do you think a bad Earth could be the prob? I take it people on the Forum dont like the Halos Then, oh Well, Sorry. Ill keep you posted on what the prob is when sorted. Cheers, Ben.

It's not just halos... They're just considered a bit on the chavy side. Each to their own, Ben - it's your car and you do to it what you wish. That's how I feel about it anyway :)

It could be a dodgy earth, I'm no electrician... I'm just looking at the problem form a logical point of view: a change was made and it caused a certain problem. If reversing this change removes the problem, then there is an issue with whatever it was that was changed. This does not take into consideration blown fuses or burnt wiring, which would make it a more interesting issue.

I would say, check your fuses, check that the changes you made to the wiring are as per install instructions. If you don't find anything wrong, get in touch with whever sold you the halos, as they might need replacing.

Good luck.

Right, Checked the Fuses this morning and found both side light fuses blown. Replaced them and the lights work perfectly. Even the dash comes on at full beam. So everything is OK now, but that does not explain why the lights worked with 2 blown side light fuses, and the dash lights where working except on Full Beam? Oh well, They work now, just 2 Fuses, Yes i feel stupid now..:ermm:. Thanks leshkin for your Quick Help Mate.

No worries! You must've shorted something out while installing the lights... Note to self - take fuses out before doing any electrics work on the car :)

The circuits on the lights tend to be interleaved - it's not uncommon for one fuse being blown to stop another system working properly.

Welcome to the world of Audi ownership.....
