Hi guys, has anyone bought a blank key with transponder off eBay and sucessfully got it working? I came across a seller with a blank key n transponder plus instructions on how to program it to your car. Is he talkin crap or is this true?

Will second has fobs work? My plan is to buy it, get it cut at key cutters n get Audi to programme it.

Anyone done this and is it possilble??

Thanks

The remote side can be programmed by you possibly with a procedure but no guarantees, vagcom will do this for you no problems, but the immo system is a no no full stop, the key is 2 functions that are completely seperate from eachother, remote locking is 1 & other is immo for starting car, not linked at all, so immo has to be done by dealer or a cluster specialist, if you had your skc, aka: security key code then you could use vagcom to code, but unlikely you have this.

I got a key blade cut online from ebay seller ddkeyprogrammers for £7 del. for my A6
I couldnt find anyone by me who could cut an audi key
sent a picture of key but they match the profile to cut not the picture perfect match was reccomended by another forum member olds_kool
None listed at moment but you could ask them?
Very happy with them

Thanks NHN. So this is possible but needs the dealer to program. This way would still be cheaper than buying a new key from Audi. Last time they quoted me £200!!

Cheers for that. There's another company on eBay now doin the same service. Don't rem their name but they charging £10 Inc del. Not keen bout the idea they they cut from a pic but cos you've done it I might give it a try. So u just send them a pic of your key and they do the rest??

I did the flip key conversion when i had my Seat Leon

I bought the Fob and key blank off the bay and took the transponder chip out of my non remote standard key and swapped it into the flip key and then got the blade cut at Timpsons, then just coded the remote locking features and it was good to go

Yes its just to match the profile so you get an un worn key its not cut from your picture.
Also i didnt have to remove the key from the fob for the picture as I only had 1 key this was important i didnt damage it.
I'm sure they will list again as the one that were listed have just sold.
They sell 2 types of audi keys i bought the wrong one first and they emailed me about it as both keys look identical
Got the key next day

I had 2 keys cut from the same person on ebay as i have converted to B7 keys... Perfect match, cant complain at all :)

No, the skc isnt seen by the dealers anymore, was changed years ago, all done over the line via germany without any codes seen by technicians, also be warned keys bought 2nd user may not work on your cars, given some cars like the 8P for example have the immo megamos 48 chips precoded with the vin & brand before going to dealer, these immo's are once only programmeable, although my B6 seemed to code with the newer style keys I got from a seller few years back, so beware.

So if i were to buy a key cut from ebay (£10), virgin transponder (£40). What would the next step be? I only got one key when I bought mine, and really worried about losing that. would someone with vagcom be able to code it for me? Or would I need to take a trip to the stealers?

If you dont have skc, then you need to goto dealers or an alternative.

i've just phoned my local audi specilist and they charge £40 plus vat for code a new chip. not bad if you ask me! goign to get mine done soon.

i bought my spare key off ebay virgin transponder blank key
£12..
had it cut and programed locally all in cost me £60 inc cost of key

£12 Inc transponder is cheap!! Keys with new chip I've seen go for £40. never the less, still cheaper than a new key from dealers lol

I just finished my key project, I bought a blank key and shell as mine was a little worn. Simple refit as i have 2 keys. Getting the Immobilser out was quite hard, a matter of gently heating the key and cutting of the plastic around it, then it just popped out, I can confirm mine was glued in . So i reglued it into the new key, straight swap for the key shank with an extra twist of the spring for superfast key flicking :D . Then came the battery section, my pcb was held in with brass pins, so i cut these and placed it into the new shell, the battery and spring will hold it in place. As for the battery holder i found that the side battery spring was located in a different place to my original so and the remove and refit, the plastic was already moulded for this. Finished. Now to unlock the car, because it took so long it didn't work, So opened with original 2nd key , put the new key in the car and started it, left it running for a minute ( to confirm i didn't break the Immoboliser ) whilst the key was in the ignition i press the unlock key then lock key. Take out the key and now everything works. total time : 20 mins
