Did you see any differance for you hard earned pennys???

Just been offerd a full turbo back miltek for a good price, but wont bother if theres no real gains to be made..

Your thoughts please????

Pete...

turbo back to mid section! sell this to me then I shall give you my feedback on the rest.:)

What price? My flex pipe is ticking, and wouldn't mind replacing the dp/cat for milltek rather than just stock, and was going to get a non-res cat back too. Doubt power gains will be anything to write home about, I'm after more of a rumble to the exhaust, without sounding too harsh or "chav".

Pete by all accounts the S3's problem is the Manifold and not the dp/exhaust..... from previous threads it will prob rev a little better but extra power is pretty much a no no - also the Milteks have a habit of knocking at the back - Ess three had his for 2 years i think going back n forth to miltek, still not sorted to this day on his old car

if its £100-£200 id have it just for hell of it, anymore and id personally be out mate - purely based upon the fact that no gains have ever been proven :)

yes but the downpipe does not yield more power, this has been proven time and time again - although recommeded by most stage 2 maps, it isnt needed

same goes for the CAT, the standard item is not that restrictive, a sports CAT on an S3 is a waste of £500

the manifold is where the main restriction is on the S3, DP is more of a benefit on the A3's

Will be interesting to see if after you fit an aftermarket manifold whether the dp then makes a bigger difference.

And the hot side of the turbo

3" d/p gets the air out quicker......thats what its all about on turbo engines

fully understand how a modern turbo engine works, simple fact is though that the S3 DP simply isnt THAT restrictive for under 300bhp applications - i dont know how many times i have to reiterate that point

your car is not making more power because of the DP.... until someone else produces a before and after test in the same conditions with and without (as has already been done) then you won't convince those of us who have seen the results carried out by respectable people

Well i loged after doing my airbox, and i know the figures/results.. And if i have this system,i can log what gains/losses i have..

I will tell all if/when i get it..

lol, i am not going to argue with you, i know how a modern turbo engine works.... the same as a unmodern turbo-d engine, the difference is there are more electric gubbins ,

im not saying a d/p adds power, but it lets the engine breathe better, lower egts, the faster it gets it out the faster it can breathe it in......

This at least is true, typically see the turbo spool a tad earlier too...

My car pulls alot harder through first gear ever since i've had the exhaust system and i love it! I can definitely say i felt a difference. Cost me £550 including a 200 cell sports cat.

Will there be any problems with the mot with a 120 cell cat?

I run a Magnaflow 200 cell cat... works for me, biggest issue with sports cats tend to be that the after cat lambda throws a fault code typically illuminating the CEL in the dash... can be coded out with the right mapping as its only really there to check cat efficiency.

That will do for me

I had the fault code flag up when i got my 200 cell sports cat done too. Check the following Ebay item number, 290408003476

I got 1 of these to get rid of the problem and it's been fine now! That's the exact one i purchased. :) You can only get these in the states but work out to £10 or just less delivered to the UK. Loads of people have got these after they got sport/race cats and was really big in the VAG scene in the states. The adapter goes in first and the sensor goes in behind hit. This pushes the sensor further away so it takes longer for it to read, therefore no more fault code! If you got the light on your dash just clear it off after you got this fitted and you'll be fine.

Hope that helps.

yer my understanding is what dave said, the faster you get the fumes out the faster you can get fresh air in, meaning better throttle response, faster spool up and generally a happier engine?

just my take on things, i come from a world of n/a where you gotta get the balance between free'ing up the flow of gases but not so much as to lose critical back pressure, but on forced induction back pressure is not what you want?

back on topic and to op, i didnt buy my miltek, it was already installed, but what ive noticed (and im sure ive read on here too) the miltek backbox with the same twin pipe design as oem s3 back box sits on the **** for reason, dont know why, maybe its just mine not seated correctly but can be a bit irritating lol

mine is a non res and i love it, nice and quiet but has nice note to it when on the go pedal, think the resonating one is not much different, could be wrong though, of course

Witch sensor did you use this on?

The one before cat or after cat?

Andrew - ermmmmm lol pretty sure it's the one after the cat. Whichever one causes the issue that's the one! lol. I've had it on my car for over a month now and no issues at all. When i had the issue come on, i used to clear it, and it would come back again 4-5 days later! But now is all good! I've spoken to a couple of people who have had it for a year and been fine.

not arguing either fella, i took your post to mean that you had gained power by adding your DP..... apologies if i mistook you for one of the new breed of owners that apply 'corsa' mentality :)

mate i have been wallowing in my own self pitty ever since hitting the big '30'... :)
