I'll be heading into the dealer's in a few days to start on the haggling process, I already know exactly what I will spec.

Thing is, I still don't really know what Sprint Blue looks like in real life. I haven't seen any Sprint Blue Audis around, as most people get them in fashionable white.

I've seen pictures ranging from the awesome:
(Stolen off RAPS3 - hey, can I use them for a thread real quick?)

To the flat baby blue:

Both cars were photographed in what looks like direct sunlight. I loved the colour in Audi's pics, but I trust drivers' pics more. Only about ~10% of the photos I've seen online look like the bottom one, but it's enough to get me thinking that it might be due to more than just bad camera settings.

What does it really look like? I live in Cyprus, which means sunlight for about 364,8 days a year if that helps.

Thanks!

I think it kooks more pastely than the top 2,,, nearer the bottom 1 but without the shine That top picture looks more like my Mauritius blue

Ouch.. That's going to be an issue. Do you see Sprint Blue cars frequently or is it as far as memory serves?

All S3's are sprint Blue....lol actually i was sitting in a 2010 one at Audi Guildford not 1 hour ago..Being a sort of neutral lighter colour they dont have that depth of shine/reflection you get on darker colours. Its still a nice colour but it wouldnt be my choice as i think they look a little "faded".

Oh man.. So I guess it's pretty close to the 'trademark' RS2 colour then?

*EDIT*
Meaning this:

No chance. It's not as flat as that on the RS2. I was the same when trying to decide on a colour for my replacement S3. I had an Ibis, but white is becoming very popular in every model throughout the range, let alone all other manufacturers. I was unsure about Sprint, but went to the local dealership and saw one in person. There's usually a few outside in the car park as well so you can see in real light.

To be completely honest, I'm so glad I went with Sprint. Looks fantastic in sunlight, really pops, but if you keep the polish on, it looks good all the time in all light conditions. Plus, it's an exclusive colour to the S and RS cars, so not going to be too many about. :icon_thumright:

I really dont think that picture is fair Rico...Its under exposed and most of the side of the car is in shadow....and you have used a flash which has fooled your light meter...

Sprint is an S/RS specific colour (unless you spec it on a non S/RS car and pay a wacky premium). So for me it gives the very subtley styled S3 a bit of welcome identity too.

As its a pearl effect colour it does have a different look to it depending on the light and how clean it is of course.
The main thing is that it ALWAYS looks good.
It also sets off the bling chrome bits such as the grill and mirrors.

Suzuka and Ibis are the only other S3 colours I would choose over Sprint. Unless I had a mid life crisis, gave into a guilty pleasue and bought Solar orange....:w00t:

Good luck finding one!

Cheers
Paul

I think I'll just go with the Sprint Blue. The used one paddy posted still looks quite good and I can't get myself to buy a gray-scale or fruit-coloured car!

The S/RS exclusivity was one of the reasons I got interested in it actually

No problems finding one, I got just € to blow on a new one!

Thanks for all your help guys, you've taken a huge load off my mind!

Definitely looks more like the top 2 than anything else.

Here's mine when it was brand new on a pretty overcast day.

Now thats a colour....Solar Orange.... Remember this guy lives in Cyprus so it has to be Solar Orange :)

Gotta love those wheels Roswell !

Yeah I really like the wheels....I remember my wife telling me to get the pre-facleft ones on it and me arguing with her as I'd already seen the new style ones in the the flesh and loved them!

There is a set in the classifieds and i'm sooooo tempted...

At 24, auditing job and plans to keep it for atleast 6-8 years, orange is out of the question:lmfao:

Yeah.. comes up to 50k with the extras! Good thing we've always bought VAG in the family, so I have an old A6 to trade in and a pretty good acquaintance with the Audi sales manager!

Whats age got to do with it...:) i bet i'm old enough to be all your dads and solar Orange is just fine.......maybe i'm just brave ;-)

Yeap, it does take some courage to pull it off hehe

Fair enough Paddy. I've removed the offending image so as not to offend or complicate matters. Note to self, must attend photography class. I'd still go for Sprint Blue though.

LOL! That's my in-laws' house. Thought it was a good location for a few photos. When's the meet? Nevr been to one, so might come along.

Glad you like the pics ;)

like has been said, it looks awesome in real life. Sprint and shiney chrome bits is the best combo IMHO, but then I am biased.

The only time when it looks flat is when its covered in a load of grimey crap of our wintery roads.

Cyprus Sunshine, sprint S3 and lovely bling bits, ultimate combo.

i m old (40) and if i order new it will be tough choice between imola yellow or solar orange with black optics , yellow looks amazing

Sorry to hijack thread slightly, but what's the going rate for a brand new ( del mileage ) set of these S3 rims with conti tyres?

I have a set going spare in my garage.

If anyone's interested i'll sell mine for £1100 or a straight swap for brand new black edition wheels with tyres.

PM
£1100 buys bbs ! dont think any one will pay that for oem wheels , sold mine to guy on here £350 (pre face lift though )
