Mark's '98 2.8 Quattro build thread

Lil scuffs to the other car and a couple of light scratches to mine that I'll sort out soon. Nowt happened with insurance. I was gettin' new plates anyway, haha

I have a facelift front bumper with votex lower lip that would look good on your car. Im in perth so not too far away.

Thanks dude! Couple bits and pieces inside will be treated with a bit of paint and I'm also gonna set up a couple of lighting changes, US-style

Car looks fantastic Marc. Got the same model. colour but the standard OEM wheels. I even use Febreeze myself...LOL !! Enjoyed looking at all your pictures and also glad to see that someone is as OCD as me when it comes to cleaning their car. You're lucky though, my missus just craps the car up and never helps clean up the quattro.

Thats why I do not let the Mrs anywhere near my Quattro. Thats why I bought her a Range Rover.......You should see the mess. The word "CATASTROPHIC" dosn't do it justice. "I'll clean it at the weekend, promise"....then....at the weekend...."But I'm wathching the eastenders omnibus....." - Bitch!

Huh... Rach never even attempts to clean her car. We both know that's my job (a blue job) anyway (I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning my cars!) - And, it gives me time to get outside and contemplate life... lol

Nice looking car
I know what you mean about women in cars
When I got the A4 I banned her from doing anything other than breathe in it:jump:

Mark these are some pics of my 2.8i just back from new MOT and washed/polished (by me of course) and the neighbours cat decides to keep warm V6 style by walking all over the bonnet and leaving ****** paw marks. I like animals but not this much......grrrrrr!!!!!

Choccy biscuit for me!!!

That will lookn unusual here mate, credit for trying sumthing different.

Just a thought thou, will it affect mot in anyway that the amber light will be showing with lights on or that, is that permitted for our roads??? Not trying to pi$$ on your parade mate, just might be worth watching out for come mot time.

Thanks for the thoughts man :)

I used to own an MB6 Civic and installed a very similar set-up that I'm intending here. I put up a video of it working back then too > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLlPj9V6CFg

I never had a problem through an MOT. My guess is because the light emitting is amber and not conflicting with the operation of the indicator bulb either. Just as long as you have a semi-understanding MOT guy or one that can see it's not a problem. However this time I'm installing a plug in the live feed from the current sidelights to my new twin-filament bulb so that when testing does come around I can just disconnect the running lights and everything is like it should be for the tester. Police have never had a problem with the lights either. So all is good.

I'm planning on running 'day' lights on my new Mk2 Jetta project. I had them on the last one I had, but they weren't showing amber... just white.

Interested to see how they look. You might sway me into getting a set for mine!

Still loving it in black. Wish I'd held out for a black one for myself now.

That woulda been the next suggestion Mark, easy disconnection if it is a problem! Reason i ask is i used to work in a MOT station and sure anything other than white light is not permitted at the front. As you say, a sympathetic tester is always a good thing also!:)

Definitely dude. Thanks.

Yellow, amber and white from the front. I used to have yellow fogs on my Civic and amber for everyone's indicators obv. New 5-series BMWs have running orange LEDs now too. And Volvos always have :)

Couple lil updates. Just ordered a set of 225/40/18 Falken 452s. Can't wait to get them on the new wheels. Should be here/on next week!

Got some new plates. Smashed front one was no pretty sight!

My tools for shorties...

That looks ACE! I'm loving the colour/wheel combo. Excellent. :icon_thumright:

IMHO dont think you really need them, if not just a little spacer. looks really good mark! my fav shot above

Thanks dude :) Yeah that shot makes me reconsider spacers too. But the one of the wheels from the back and lookin at the car from the front makes me think yes.. I'm stuck, haha

You COULD probably get away with a 5 or 10mm spacer on the rear with those rims... but none on the front. You'll struggle to not catch the arches if you put a spacer on the fronts... especially if you're on full lock and slightly on a slope! Mind you. you're not scraping the floor like I am!

time to update your sig pic mark

Stunning looking mate, love when you have new wheels to fit to a car, i get all excited like a kid!!!
