Both of my cars stolen

Ok mate thanks for info & I'd be happy with the test for £30, just the subscription huh, but as it has vhf tracking then thats ok for the basic version as gps is pointless as it can be blocked.

I just rang my insurers & they offer no discounts on tracker installed, I mean what next, if I remove the wheels & weld it to the steel floor they would charge me a £10 admin fee for changes to the policy lol.

Arrr Hum....... I think you might be a bit 'off message' there Tom.... The Government tell us car crime is down,, so it must be, despite the fact that we all know exactly the opposite is true..!

Still best be careful,, you might be sent for 're-education'..!!

As for the lowlifes,,,, I'm with blazin again.. I hope they crash and die, harsh maybe,, but scum like that won't change so it would be a blessing for the rest of us..!

In 'general' it is down but of course in some areas it will be on the up. In my area it is down 75% 09-10 from 08-09, but all that means is that in 08-09 it was really bad!

Oh the recording of crime has been 'adjusted' to make thigs look rosey.....in my opinion of course :)

sorry to hear about this.

with your insurance if you have the option of a courtesy car that should be given to you for 14 days
after 1 month of it happening and no sign of the car they have to settle with you.

hopefully they turn up unharmed

Crime isn't down - The way it's reported (Most people don't even bother reporting crimes now) is manipulated by senior Police officials and MP's.

I feel for the poor officers on the front line!

Crime isn't, but in general Car Crime is, although, yes the way it is recorded (and what is recorded) is altered year on year for various reasons. Of course you need to remember that 93% of all statistics are made up on the spot.... :w00t:

Oh and thanks.....

Thanks?!You a Bobby?

I've always wanted to be a copper (Dog handler - My umlitmate job) - My old man was a copper for 30 odd years:icon_thumright:

Yes, for my sins, though i try not to advertise it too much.

No sins mate - Without you guys we'd all be living like we're in London!

I got into the Firebrigade as a retained fireman - passed all my exams done half the training, got my uniform etc, etc - Then i failed an eyesight test.... Bad times. Hence why i'm not a fed now :crying:

Irrespective of what your place is like to live in (good or bad), I really don't see the police as the issue. I think they do well with the resources they are allocated, and the standards they have to met (set by our friends in Westminster). Only occasionally do I question their ethics (Ian Tomlinson - Newspaper seller G20 summit kicked from behind - died), but it's hard to judge when you don't do the job.

I take issue with the British judicial system and the prison services which it seems to me, time and time again fail the British public. Any repercussions for criminals from conducting this sort of 'low rent car crime' is no more feared than going down the pub for a beer with his mates. The fact our prisons are full to the point where aggravated burglary may no longer carry a jail term says to me the system is either broken or failing badly, but because it can be hidden behind closed doors the magnitude of the truth will only get out by accident or via insightful investigative journalism.

These days it all too often seems the only victim of crime is the victim, whilst the state nannies the perpetrators of crime to ensure their human rights aren't violated.

Any news on your cars? After a certain period of time I think it becomes questionable you want them back given how they may have been used/abused.

Indeed, we lock em up they let em go. If you think it is frustrating, try it from this side..

Terrible stuff mate, having one car stolen must be a nightmare, but 2:ohmy:!!!

Hope you get some good news on recovery!

Maybe the part that you lived in was.

Finsbury Park???

I lived in a good area of South London - There's to many people in London whose profession is unemployed lay about scrounger, driving their cars without insurance or a license!!
I live in a beautiful village between Guildford and Chichester now - It's how England used to be - a community, people stop and talk in the street, smile at you!!!

London is full of angry and rude people - My wife collapsed on the tube platform once, people just stepped over her and left her... Until one person helped her!

I can understand if your young (18-24) but if you've got kids - No thanks, not for me!

A few too many generalisations there, I think.

London has it's bad parts, but on the whole it's fine and friendly UNLESS you're about 18 years old and living in a dodgy area. It's not the worst city in England IMO.

What happened to your wife is unusual and uncommon. In over 30 years living in London I've never seen or heard of something like that.
People are always passing out on the sweaty tubes and there's always loads of people scrambling to help them.

But I guess London just wasn't for you.
The same as some village between two places and full of smiling villagers wouldn't be for me. :)

Yeah - Each to there own mate.

London isn't the worst City true - I do love the buzz of working in the City (i.e. Central London) Don't understand how anyone can get on the train/tube though!

Well 6 days on and no sign of them :(

To be honest don't want them back now and will be waiting for the first call from the insurance tomorrow to start the process of discussing a price.... :asskicking:

Can I just say thanks to everyone that has taken the time to reply on this thread, it is much appreciated :icon_thumright:

Hey mate, good to hear from you, hope you guys are all ok, I think its better that the cars are gone and you can start afresh, hopefully insurance wont play silly beggars and will cough up a good price for both vehicles.

Mark, I don't blame you not wanting them back. Hope the Insurance people give you the price you're looking for, so you can get a tidy car(s) any thoughts what you want next?

Not really sure whats next on the cards, we tend to go for a family car and a fun car, grand scenic and something fun n sporty...suggestions anyone??

Family car RS4 and fun car R8???

What do you think???

Oh damn, i thought this was the imaginary thread...lol

Q7 would be a nice family car, and if you find out who the f**kers are, you can run them over without hesitation! lol... Quattros are a lot of fun!!

erm, i think you're forgetting what i had stolen and the fact that i'll only have the meager amount that the insuranve will deem worthy :(

sorry, my mind was wandering off again!.. let's have a re-think

Tough position to be in Mark, having to replace not one but two cars! Hope you get a decent payout mate. My mother got carjacked back in 2003 on Wakegreen Road, despite a good payout for the age and mileage of the car, the amount was never enough to buy something you have owned from new in the same condition. Main thing was my Mum was ok though, and the main thing is your family is ok.

sorry ming, my response wasn't supposed to be so blunt, got interrupted mid reply and thought i'd cancelled it, must have hit the submit button instead!

meant to say.... dunno about a q7 i'm on ebay looking for a challenger tank!!!

Yeah Joe, you're 100% right mate. will be fighting for as much as possible out of them whilst in the back of my mind wondering how much i'm gonna get stung come renewal time :(
both policies have full protected ncb but it doesn't stop them hiking up the base price of you policy, someone i know in insurance has told me to expect my premiums to be at least 50% more than last time :(

No worries Mark, I understand how you feel right now, ASN is a buffer zone. We'll keep searching for something tidy for you.

Sorry to hear this mate. All this talk of doors getting bashed in and keys being robbed :sadlike:

I would have trusted the dog to rip their arms and legs off, but he's turning more and more into a lazy oink lately  - although he is nearly 11

Think I need to upgrade my alarm soon.

mark,

Im really sorry to read this about your cars getting pinched, iv not read all the reply's as i don't have much time on-line, i do hope all works out well with the insurance company, you never know the cars may turn up and you may be able to do a buy back and make some money back on them to recover some of your new premiums next year and make some pocket change for your next rides, I don't want to look like im taking the micky here for suggesting or recommending you look into "Tracker" as iv always had them installed into my cars as a standard feature, the insurance company love them and so will your new premium,

Regards

Paul
