Looking to get a new exhaust and down pipe soon but want to know what people have and how do they rate them

Also how much did you pay and where from

If you are still running the K04 on your 2.1 but planning BT then is it worth getting one at this stage?

Exhaust wise, again plan for the BT... if you go GT30 then get a 3" system which tbh may have to be a custom job although looking at a non resonated Milltek pipe wise it should be fine but not sure about the rear silencer...

Milltek worked ok on Matt20vt's GT2871r BT A3 but felt like it wasn't flowing as well as it should have. I ran the OEM on mine shortly after the BT conversion and while it made good power it was defo restrictive and backed the system up that much the EGT's were over 1100 degrees as it couldn't get out quick enough...

DP wise for the BT conversion, you will prob have to get it custom made. Bill made mine...

Oh and get it ceramic coated :)

i have pipewerx 3inch downpipe and sports cat with miltek non-res system sounds nice works well

I haven't changed the downpipe yet as it costs quite a bit lol. But i have a custom Longlife exhaust system with 200 cell sports cat. This was done by Style Dynamics in Hayes, West London. Known them for many years so i always trust them. You may have heard of them, huge wheel suppliers in the VAG scene with euro rims galore!

I went custom as it's much cheaper than the Milltek, Blueflame applications etc. It has definitely made the car breath so much better and pulls alot harder in 1st! Sound is immense when i hit 5k revs, it screams! :) Sound is just right too, not quiet and not too loud.

Cost: £550 fitted.

Its all about money right now, my plan is to go BT some day but that may take some time depending on work also

Just didn't know what the limitations the Milltek ones are like as i was looking at a non resonated one and if the rear silencer needs changing then thats ok by me

I have the same as S3 Kev, But without the cat,
People say it sound nice under load with just a deeper tone around town

ive got a custom 3" downpipe , 100 cell cat and non res milltek the rest... sounds good but, drones a bit more that i would like... but you cant have your cake and eat it!

idiot question here: what is the difference between res and non res with the milltek's?

Mines a resonated Milltek. I didn't want a boomy sound while travelling on the motorways and I prefer the sleeper approach, i.e not a loud exhaust.

Are the non resonated ones loads louder?

G

Mine is custom from 3" turbo to 120 cell high flow cat > straight into stock muffler

Perfect sound

Perfect flow
Resonator makes hardly any difference to noise in my case

i got subaru 3" dp (im guessing to match up with turbo) and miltek non res, unsure what cat i have, whether its stock or sports

either way its nice and quiet, but apparently sounds mint when tanking it (cant hear it in car but my mate said so when i flew past him lol)

want to do some logs when i eventually get vcds and see just how effective it is

Where can i get a downpipe for my S3? I don't wanna pay crap loads for one!! I got a custom system so i won't mind a custom downpipe.

Blueflame on mine slightly noticable gain as gets rid of that massive backbox which Milltek stick with

As for price i did a deal with a load of Forge bits with S3Gav.. think there around £465 though..

After much deliberation I am going to try a Milltek back box and fit it too my existing 3" system... I have been hunting around for the 'right box' to replace mine and now that I am driving around in my rather std 1.3ltr Mk2 Golf for a while I realise how much I miss having a quiet car... The back box I have has got to go and the only one I know that 'should' flow enough for when my GT30 is on song and be quiet enough when I cruise appears to be the Milltek one...

Dont waste your money on the XS go for the Pipewerx one i have Bill (Badger5) fitting one on mine along with a Hybrid turbo and new head gasket as he found an oil leak into pistons 1 and 2. The quality of the Pipewerx is top notch. I also have a non res miltek which isnt that loud but that could be due to the fact i just have a panel filter and not a cone i bet it would be a lot louder with a cone filter. I may try a JR cone filter and put some extra ducting just to see what the difference is.

dont no only have the non-res lol cant compare

I'm happy with mine so i guess it doesn't matter that much.

On another note though, my Milltek has strange tailpipes, I mean i thought the Millteks looked almost virtually identical to the standard ones just larger and obviously stainless.

Mine on the other hand are not rounded inward like oem, they are straight cut. Not sure how to describe it really. They look like the rice car type only smaller scale.

Mmmmm...

Mine does not look like this one. Was hoping it would but....

It is the same as this only twin and smaller diameter.

It says custom tailpipe, which is what i guess i've got, but never asked for. Not sure i like it that much tho....any thoughts??

I'll get some pictures up over the weekend.

Anyone know if the miltek cats come with a DP? Im asuming they do...

ive got a blueflame cat back is abit load from the inside but has a lovely real deep roar from outside without sounding like a boyracer corsa
definitely noticed a difference in performance not a massive gain but a gain which is all good

i have an xs down pipe and sports cat isnt a straight fit we bit a cutting was needed on the exhaust flange but im happy with it

I have a Blueflame. Like has already been said, a bit loud inside (sign of getting old I guess!), but it does sound nice.

TBE
100 cell cat

lol, yes. I remember when I was trying to find information before I bought my BF exhaust. Comments like that would of helped me in either accepting a loud noise, or going the custom exhaust route. wouldnt touch miltek regardless.
