Hi guys, My dad has now joined me and got himself an A3. He has gone for a 2.0 TDI Sport sportback. It is in very good condition and totally standard.

My dad would like to get these wheels for it though....

do these fit straight on? Also are the Audi center caps expensive?

also how much are the official audi wheels? he wants the 17" ones over the 18" version as he can then keep his good tyres

There's not enough detail in the advert, the wheels need to be a 5 x 112 fitment, chances are these wheels will be a multi fit type but to be fair, I think I'd sooner run the standard wheels, they will be lighter, stronger and in my opinion suit the car better. There should be some Audi OEM upgrade (5 spokes) 17's on ebay at good money.

thanks for the info and the link! really appreciated!

he prefers the rs4 style though.

Thanks
Craig

It's all down to taste. There are a lot of those wheels around in 5 x100 for the 8P1 (up to 2003), just confirm that they are 5 x 112 and you shouldn't go far wrong, the Audi original centres are much nicer as I think the ones you linked will just come with a naff sticker in the centre, someone on here might be able to help.

Good luck :icon_thumright:

He is 65 and not into modded cars... I'm surprised he is even willing to change to those so Ill let him do what he wants. He likes the RS6's I have on my 8L but they won't fit right?

No go, they're 5 x 100. Most RS6's are 18" in this fitment but there will be 17's about and they will look better than the others, they look really tacky as replicas!

So there's no way you'll get him wound down on coilovers and 20's then, ah well...

Nooooooooooo, it will look so wrong with those wheels on. The 2nd link suggested for those block 5 spokes would look much nicer, or the 17" TDI Sport wheels. I think you can get S-Line look wheels in 17" too if 17" is the max size he wants to go to.

But I defnintely would not fit those dated RS4 style, they look nice on some cars but just doesn't work on the newer A3.

Thanks guys. He reason he liked the rs4 look in the first place was that there was a sports back for sale near Manchester with them on that he liked...

Was it a TDI Sport in Warrington? I was going to see that one until I saw the wheels lol. They put me off as they weren't the original wheels/didn't look nice (IMO).

That's the one. It drove well, looked nice but the guy was a penis and it was a bit dirty inside...

For some reason a lot of traders generally don't clean the car up until AFTER it's sold which always baffles me.

Kind of another reason I didn't go was because despite being a trader/showroom, when I asked about a test drive he said something along the lines of "I'm sure we can sort something out in the sale"(?) As if I'm going to buy a car without test driving and that by test driving it means I'm obliged to buy!!! I rang asked basically to make sure he'd have time to take it out etc and I always find it's a bit better if you ring up first rather than appear at the door asking for a test drive. So that put me off, when I was expecting "sure, come down whenever" etc.

I found that a lot of 2nd hand car traders are very difficult to deal with, especially regarding test drives which is surely part of any viewing of a car you might be interested in. At another place (HPL) I was told up front if I'm not buying a car off them today they won't do a test drive. Bizarre. Needless to say we walked away and had a much nicer experience buying privately.

But re the wheels, I would still say the old RS4 wheels don't look right on the new A3/Sportback, they look too dated, the new RS4 wheels however would look very nice without looking aftermarket. Think the S3 wheels are similar?
