Hi , i've read that many of you have the oil change done at an independent garage whilst still having the regular services done at an Audi dealer . My question is - does this in any way invalidate the Audi warranty , thanks .

I think you will find very few people on here go to a dealer to get the car serviced as it can usually get done cheaper and have better service from an independent. To answer you question you never need to take your car to a Audi dealer to get it serviced as long as the garage you take the car to uses OEM standard Audi parts. The days of having to take a car to a dealer to keep it`s warranty finished many years ago.
Is that right? I'd still be worried if ever a problem occured and you wanted to go down the warranty route! But if you are right, happy days! I use an awsome indi!!!!
Providing a genuine Audi oil filter was used, Audi would not know the oil had been changed, so don't worry.

European block exemption is the ruling which made all of this legal, use genuine parts and you should be ok.

Thanks guy's , i was a little concerned that if you had the oil changed independently and something needed work under warranty that was engine related they may be able to refuse . Do you get a stamp for oil change or is it just for the main services ? Thanks .
Just my opinion, but I would never take my car to Kwikfit for an oil change even if it was £20!! I would also query if they use the exact same oil since they generally buy in bulk barrels of generic oil and have to serve all manufacturers and grades, it's probably a similar/same viscocity but I doubt it'd be the same brand and type exactly that Audi would use.
I disagree. I think an awful lot of people on here use main dealers! With a car under warranty, or recently out of warranty, it's false economy to use an independent. Audi have quite competitive servicing rates for cars over 3 years old, and the main dealer stamps do add value to resale. You have no chance of any Audi goodwill if it's not been serviced by main dealers, and this can be worth £1000's down the road if you have any problems.
Unless a car was many years out of warranty, and was obscenely expensive for main dealer servicing, I would always stick with main dealers. Not because I think they do a better job, but sadly most people do.

With regards the oil, I just can't see them having the huge range of oils that each dealer/make would have for their cars. Not only the right grades (0/30, 0/40, 5/30, 5/40, 10/40, 15/50, 10/60 etc) but the brand that may be recommended/used at a dealer, sometimes as part of a long life service schedule perhaps.
For example, could I roll in to Kwikfit with my BMW M Coupe and get an oil change for £50 using the engine-specific Castrol TWS 10/60 for M Series engines? No is probably the answer! and they've probably never heard of that oil either.
Now I don't normally use dealers but my A3 is a low mileage 56-plate so for £99 it seems logical to keep it full Audi services. But even if it was an older car/more mileage/not bothered about full dealer history, I might consider the £99 service at Audi. Otherwise I would use an indepedent specialist (who probably won't be much cheaper at that price) or do it myself.
