I'm planning on having an MTM map loaded onto my car next month along with quite a few other bits and pieces, I've searched high and low for user reviews but can't find anything!

So can anyone tell me anything about them? I'm sure I've spotted a few signatures on here with MTM in them!

I know MTM is pretty much double the price of similar Revo maps but my local dealership are going to be doing the work and honouring my warranty so I won't even have to hide the fact I've had the car tuned.

I purchased an MTM map for £1000 on the 2nd of March 2007.

By the 6th of May 2007 I was so underwhelmed I had replaced it with Revo map for half the price.

Sometimes you make expensive mistakes, but at least I learned something. Stick with what you know.

Thats interesting! Does the revo software really feel a lot quicker? Did you ever find out roughly what the car was putting out with MTM? and did you have the same hardware mods you have now?

any feedback is heavily appreciated

Hi i am running mtm on my car graph shows just over 340 bhp and i love it ......... can drive car nice and easy very smooth but hit the gas and it will set your pants on fire..........................But hey thats only my opinion , i am sure every car will adapt slightly differently when mapped.........all the work on my car was done at qst........:rockwoot:.

Why £1000 for an MTM map??

Cant see how that can be justified?, unless of course MTM will underwrite the balance of the manufacturers warranty and more importantly the Clutch/DMF?
Jeez, I thought REVO was expensive!

Paul

Where are you based, I've been 2 Revo S3s and 1 Shark Performance S3, and if I had an S3 it would be a Shark Performance one all the way.

Cause its Kim Collins & although he has certainly knowledge, he thinks you deserve to pay that little extra for it, as many have said, go to revo or others for half the price, personally cant stand his arrogant **** or his arrogant family involved either, but thats just my opinion, others differ, but opinion from experience as I have been there & had attempted work done to my S3 while back, never went back.

The MTM map was.....well underwhelming. But that was against my personal preference. The fuel cut issues that mapping agents have had to work around for the standard map meant that whilst the maps are better than OEM, I had been spoiled by stage 2+ on my previous car.

Quite a few people actually asked whether the car was mapped with the MTM map on. It was so linear it was hard to notice it, and as I only had a Carbonio intake the car posted 286bhp. I don't know what rollers people are using, but I don't believe the S3 can put out over 320bhp on the standard pump.

Please don't think I am slandering MTM or QST, it just wasn't for me. I purchased it after reading a review in Audi driver seeing that Mayer had worked as an Audi tech for years (in Quattro division). I expected something a bit bolder, but then I expected the S3 to be quicker and have less shortcomings for £30k too!!

If you can get to passenger in any cars I strongly suggest you do so, and if you have plans to 'stage modify' then select a mapping agent who can support it.

There is a hell of a premium on MTM gear, and whilst it's very nice, I can't say it quite lives up to the price tag.

Ditto the comment about thinking revo was expensive, the MTM pice just couldn't be justified unless officially approved by Audi UK rather than just your local dealer's good will, Audi UK will be the ones that actually approve any warranty work after all.

In regards to maps, well, I'm on my 3rd S3 but 6th 2.0 variant so have had a little experience. I have used the following companies products/mapping - Superchips/Bluefin, GIAC and finally Revo.

In a brief summary

Superchips was conservative and 'safe' with a very predictable and linear power delivery.

GIAC, a superb product, very torquey delivery, yet linear, the car always feels well within its limits and in my opinion a good selection for mainly road use.

REVO - I really never expected this to be much different to the most extreme versions of GIAC I had sampled and on first impressions (on the road) it felt very similar with a very strong low rpm power delivery, but the real differences can be felt on both the Track and the Dyno. The Revo stage 2+ software is IMO the ultimate software for these cars, it does exactly what it claims and provides superb progressive & very, very strong power right to the red line.

I have tried all of the various stages of tune with all 3 companies and in my opinion if you want a warranty backed remap go for Superchips/Bluefin, if you want to move onto the next level then you have the choice of GIAC or Revo, both are excellent but Revo has the edge with proven gains and big power.

I have no experience of QST but there is no way I would even consider £1,000 just for software, true in life you get what you pay for but I remain to be convinced that QST can offer anymore than its competitors.

Good luck with your choice, stick with any of the big players and I'm sure you will be happy, the S3 is a superb car when mapped well, I love mine :)

There is some good reading/advice on this thread, as this is my first S3 maybe i am way off the mark as i have had no other experience of other software maps . I suppose you just have to go for what suits your needs , i like the mtm remap ,

Good luck. put all the names in a hat .......... first one out ......... sorted...............

For what its worth, I have APR stg2+ and just love it, lots of power throughout the rev range... it fells just perfect... since beside that I have tryed before superchips and ABT and they sucked... I think its the maximum out of the car it can get... allthough I havent tryed Revo as there is no Revo dealer nowhere near me, but after reading everyones opinions I think its the bomb, because this many people just cant be wrong... so its your choice.... either Revo or APR (in my case)...

Thanks for all the feedback, I'm sure most of you are fed up having to reply to remap threads by now!

I think the main thing that has helped me with descision making is the fact that MTM doesn't seem to have any stages unlike revo stage 1, 2 and 2+

Anyone care to give a list of their supporting mods for the Revo software i.e what air induction (itg?) , exhaust, fuel pump (if stage 2+) etc?

Thanks a lot

I also considered APR but closest to me is Awesome gti in Manchester but its a bit far away compared to Drivers in Glasgow where I'm based

I take it you two aren't on each others christmas card list then? lol

£1000 is too much tho I agree there

Here is what Revo say themselves linky.

I know that it is a usual response mate, but there is loads of info on hardware mods on here and hundreds of combinations; try searching on some key words. But in the mean time:

CAI: Evoms*, Forge (inc. Twintake), ITG, Pipercross, BSH, VF Engineering, etc.

Exhausts: Milltek, MV Sport.

Diverter Valves: OE Rev D, Forge.

FMIC: Forge, custom.

Fuel pumps: APR, Autotech, KMD.

Not exhaustive by any means, but something for you to research on. What you choose is down to you (obviously) and budget, but performance figures at each stage are much of a muchness, irrespective of the hardware combinations you choose.

As a side issue: as you are Glesga way I would try and hook up with DavidPhillips as he has just gone Stage 2+ and is in your neck of the woods; nothing compares with getting an eyes/hands on.

Edit: * Evoms is short for Evolution Motorsport BTW. :)

Thats exactly my point for a long long time about Kim Collins, premium prices for certainly not a premium service, certainly not worth anywhere near his charges, he only seems interested in the higher earners, anything trivial he snubs his nose up at unless you're a previous customer who spent serious dough.

To be fair when I asked him on the phone about the addition of a fuel pump to run with the MTM map he said he would find out and call me back...no phone call so maybe I can see where your coming from it didn't sound that busy that he couldn't find out and call me, in fact you would have thought someone like that would have the answer off the top of their head..strange

I almost rest my case, yes thats a very good ****** point mate, he should know these things of his head given his experience, I mean there are people on forums who know these things & they're not even mechanics, lol, no disrespect to them of course, but for someone that works on these cars day in/out & is the only distributor in the UK for MTM, then begs question, how much does he know about this huh, most pro tuners know these things then & there, they dont need to go find out, he's tuned with mtm for many years, if he doesnt know that bit then worrying I'd say.

Got to agree with NHN, every reputable tuner should know all this basic info, unbelievable !! Are you sure it wasn't the cleaner that answered the phone ?! :0

lmfao probably his mum who used to work there lol

I'm sure she was there when I went there.

In his defense he took me for a blat in a very quick RS2, but I did earn it!

When you're charging a grand for a remap, you probably don't want to dirty your hands making your own tea or answering phones! Too busy working out how to spend the money. He said he had a nice boat!!

I've dealt the MTM through glasgow audi and I have had top level of service from them. They do stage 1, 2 and 3. Stage 2 is for the exhaust and stage 3 which is mainly designed for the big turbo kit but can be used with a HPFP, a bit like revo 2+. Once you get the MTM remap, any other remaps you do are free of charge. I understand about the issues people have here with kim but I deal with Barry in glasgow audi and he's contacted and ordered stuff from mtm germany directly. I enquired about a quad exhaust for the s3 which mtm does however requires the haldex controller to be moved and was a costly option, but kudos for the service.

Well after experiencing mtm stage 2 map and exhaust its very aggressive. After about 2200rpm the car pulls really strong till 6800rpm. I see your in Glasgow too, i'll more then happy to show you :icon_thumright:

We shud definately go and compare both maps. Off topic but I heard about your work on your s3 from Guly and I also know your big brother lol

Sounds good I'm in the sprint blue, private reg too I'll come over and see whats what!

Whats put you of overall, price or attitude of QST?

Thing is even though the attitude of QST may not be fantastic(or so I've heard) us lot in Glasgow won't be dealing with them, the likelyhood is that it will be done through Glasgow Audi!
