my ? is what ones should i get and where do i get them oh and are the road legl

thanks
simon

For a little more money you could have HID setup from ebay.

is there a big change in the night b and HIDs

Night and day, Nightbreakers being night, and HID's being day.....

I have got the night breakers from ebay for just over a tenner, they are much better than std bulbs but obviously not as good as HID but I couldn't be bothered with all the messing around and maybe having potential problems.
I suppose it depends on how much spare time you have

yeah was thinking id like HIDs but read some where you need to have the light washer jets and self adjusting or you cant have them.
so will proble go with night b is there a serten wattage i would need dont need to melt any thing lol

I wouldn't worry about washer jets/self leveling, just make sure your head lights are adjusted correctly if your going with HID.
If you go for just bulbs, get H7 for the main dipped beams, they are all 12V 55W

'Technically' with xenon lights you need self levelling headlights, and washers to comply with constuction and use regs. All cars with oem xenon will have that, but I've never heard of anyone with projector headlights and HID's have any problems. I've had three Mot's with mine in, and it's never been mentioned. The worse that would ever happen is you would be given 14 days to remove them.

Standard wattage is 55w, stick to that in your dipped beams and you won't go wrong.

projector is that the dome looking bit in the main unit i have no idea as this is my first car with them

thanks james so i have projectors or fish eyes lol

any one got any photos of how the night b look when on :icon_thumright:

just to clear any confussion up about after market H.I.Ds

they are perfectly legal as far as the MOT goes

aslong as

1. there is a beam pattern
2. they are set to the correct height

checked with a MOT tester a few days ago.

We go round and round and round on this forum so much it makes me dizzy :tocktock:

dizzy a sorry james all us new ones to audi lol
so im think i can find some pics on here then :icon_thumright:

Ha don't worry Simon it wasn't aimed at you - more at the continued discussion over the legality of HID's.......

My camera skills aren't good enough to take pics of headlights! :(

no worrys just wondered if the night b would look close to HIDs and not that nasty old yellow i have right now.
and now i have the leds in my side lights it just shows them up more yellow. looks like most have the night.b so must be good

My fog lights are Nightbreakers, they are quite yellow in relation to my 6000k HID's:

its this key bord im in czech till tommrow and the key bord is not the same sorry mate.
was meant to be some one told me i may have gas blubs or some thing like that but i thought that was just in HIDs

Lol so I take it you have no 'y' key?!

Well yes, you 'maz' already have gas bulbs - if so then yes they are xenons/HID's - you should be able to tell by the colour of them really, HID's are pretty distinctive.

ha no i have it but its z and y is z its doing my head in lol
ok ok so when im home ill post a pic up on here and you can have a look if you dont mind.

so these are my lights any idea what ones i have james :)

cool so just the normal night b for me then do you no if they will be whiter as at mo they look bad next to leds

Personally I'd just go for a set of HID's. If you're set on Halogen bulbs there are plenty of "Extra Bright" ones available.

A really good colour match for HID's were posted a few days ago, I can't find the thread or remember the poster right now, but give me a minute .....

good man as id have no luck finding it lol

Well I'm getting there! I'm pretty sure it was Technics100 as he had them in his S6 - someone else must have seen it! Can anyone help?!

Thanks to Technics for getting back to me

He fitted bulbs to the fogs, that look like they match the HID's very well, whitest halogens I've ever seen - pics HERE

They do an H7 fitment HERE - although I'm sure you can get them elsewhere.

simon2004's are not halogen...

check previous posts or the UK gov website: technically they are illegal if fitted or supplied without self levellers and washers....

HOWEVER if they're clean, adjsuted correctly (and obviously only in "projector" headlights), then you're unlikely to ever have an issue...

here OEM factory fitted Halogens....

and Philips Bluevision Fogs....

they don't look that purple to the eye, but they're not a perfect match either...

Philips bluevision sidelights are still yellow... I replaced mine with LED's (as above)

you guys lost me lol all i want is to have my lghts like the ones above nice and white to look
closer to the led`s i put on

called to audi they say i have h7`s and they are Halogens as i have a leveller on the dash.
but when i looked at my codes in the boot a few weeks back it said i had self ajusting lights so who knows
:banghead:

You will have H7's and they 'will' be halogens, buts somebody may have retrofitted HID's at some time - I still think they look like halogens, but hopefully Lostbok will be here soon to clairify his comment.

If you look at the large plastic access point on the back of the headlights units, are they intact or do they have a hole cut in and wires coming out?

i cant see any holes in them. would they not be briter and whiter than what they are.
james can you look at my othere post if you no any thing about it or not as no one has said any thing about it running lumpy hoping you may no :(
