Opinions please - Brake make's

starting to get a squeal / squeaking from my rear brakes and thing the pads are due a change
please can I get any personal recommendations for manufactures of rear pads and discs?

Rears don't do much work so no need to splash loads of cash at them. I used Pagid pads and pattern discs from GSF on mine... no squeal, cheap enough and do the job...

I don't think it's really neccessary to uprate the rear brakes on an S3, but Ferodo DS2500 pads would be my choice (EuroPerformance being the cheapest I found).
For discs I would speak to Badger Bill...

I personally wouldn't put DS2500's on the rear... absolutely no need for uprated pads at all on the rear but Bill will be able to supply suitable discs and pads no probs...

who is this Badger Bill and when I come to change them is it a straight forward job or do I need vag-com to wing the callipers back?

I've got tarox discs with oem rear pads. Fronts tarox with ferodos.

OK to add to this, had a chance to look at the discs are they are perfectly serviceable so just going to do the pads.
Where is the best place (price wise) to get the pads

Badger Bill runs Badger 5 and is a VAG tuning specialist. Has a 600bhp 1.8t powered Ibiza that he races at Castle Combe and knows a fair amount about stuff...

Rear pads are easy enough, no VAGCOM needed but you will have to wind the pistons back. Best tool for the job is a brake piston tool which should set you back around £15. You can try long nose pliers too but when I did mine I ended up getting a tool as pliers weren't working on my S3.

Bill sells Pagid and Ferodos. PM him if you wish (http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/member.php?4263-badger5) or try GSF... You are after normal pads for the rear not the Pagid blues etc which are the more uprated ones, a lot of the tuning websites will prob only stock the fast road types pads and other than Bill, GSF is the only other place I know of that supplies them...
