Im getting a full respray at the end of the month and thinking of getting the grey bumper insert sprayed body colour. Anyone had it done? Got any pics?

Cheers in advance :icon_thumright:

I've only seen the front grey bits in the same colour and I dont think it looks very nice, the back bumper might be a different story though.

I wouldn't do it. It's what makes the S3 different en noticable from afar that's an S3.

Yes I have I've colour coded it Silver like my car and I really like it. Will post a pic tonight if you like... (The back bumper insert I'm talking about here)

Colour coded my rear bumper insert and side skirts, it looks sooooo much nicer and cleaner. DO IT haha.

Agree with Dani_B19 above. Ive colour my bumper insert and side skirts and it makes a nice change, especially as the grey can start to look tired.
On a black car it looks good, dont know about other colours though.

i personally think it looks awful, unless their sprayed a colour other than body

I got mine sprayed black to match the car as it had gone all streaky and I couldn't find anything to clean it up with - looks much better.

I prefer it in the standard grey. Splits up the colour nicely on the S3 and makes it stand out from others. Do it and it'll look like a colour coded A3 lol

im not too keen on the idea...... if you treat the grey plastic like bodywork they come up brilliantly

I did it because mine were awful, they were marked to hell and discoloured like nowt right.

will have to look at yours then Dani when you come round - sweetheart :)

yer i agree, although maybe the colour coding would work better on some colours and not so well on others ie i think my red would be too much without the grey bits splitting it all up, but on something like sandips car (blue, nogaro is it?) then maybe it would work?

:sign_pics:

I wouldn't do this even if someone paid me:sadlike: Only works on a black S3, personally i agree with Tim, treat it like the rest of the bodywork and it comes up a treat!

really? i reckon it would look good mate

although i reckon welly's attempt at a new front bumper looked good so maybe i just dont have a scooby doo? lol

Ha Ha!:) 'If' i was going to do anything i'd wrap it in carbon fibre look vinyl

yep i agree, it looks like a BMW compact rear bumper coloured.... would be a totally pointless thing to do on the negaro, wouldnt do it on my dolphin either....jurys out on the black :)

i had mine painted but kept them grey very similar colour to std but with a shiny laqured efftect like normal paint work looks much better and not a massive change just a subtle improvement most would'nt notice at a glance you'd just notice it looks nice

i had it painted on my s3 bumper, i think it makes the back look much smoother!!

definately thumbs up from me!

i think it needs to be blended in aswell rather than just sprayed, sandip nice idea about carbon wrap, again i think it would only suit certain colours, kev carbon would look mean on your yellow i reckon

Ive photoshopped mine quickly to see what it would look like.....what do u think? Bear in mind im having a Reiger front bumper fitted too so the lines that match the front bumper dont need to be there

I agree, there is a black S3 in the A3/S3 pics thread with this done and it looks pretty good!

I think if you were to use the exact same paint it could be pulled of but there's a nogaro blue s3 on you tube and has the back painted black and it looks good.

Here's another example seen this on pistonhead's.

I like the red one looks quite good. Not too sure about the blue and black tho.

Carbon is a possibility as im getting a carbon front splitter but think it may look a bit chavvy?

Carbon looks ok but to pull it off you would have to do the side skirts to and a splitter at the front!

Yes I had mine colour coded as someone scuffed my rear insert anyway and I always fancied doing it. Not to everyones taste but I like it and prefer it to the grey... Please don't be overly critical about it though if you don't - I can accept not everyone will.

there was a nogaro blue s3 - boy from europe somewhere which was on here a while back, his had bit cut out it and bits meshed and painted black - actually looked quite good, car was very quick also!

I like that idea actually, trying to visualise it on the yellow.

Hmmmm. I thought it was different. But then I put it out to the masses and was slaughtered..... lol!!

I like this a lot on the silver dude, that looks very nice. Probably because you can still see the gap where it fits in. On a darker colour that would be harder to spot.

Cheers Welly! I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out with my parking sensors also being part of the insert but it ended up looking ok. I very nearly left my parking sensors black... so glad I didn't!

Cheers mate, was half expecting everyone to slate it after reading some comments above lol!

Yes it is standard mate for a facelift. The reason yours had a dip in it is because yours must be a pre-facelift? Mines a facelift and the lock panels are different you see. You can't swap them about either (from facelift to pre) as my friend tried to, they have totally different connections and fittings. Sorry! (although how annoyed would you of been if you had tried to like my mate was!)
