Ok, I know that this is anything but subtle, but have done a bit of mucking about in MS Paint to come up with this.

I have been considering it, since I have a massive intercooler - most of which is covered by the bumper making it a lot less efficient....

Anyway, this is what I came up with..... It's a bit crude, but you get the idea.

Discuss....

Hmm, I wouldnt mate, looks pants IMO.

Surely there are some big power S3's running huge FMIC's that dont have the bumper cut away, cant see it really adding anything tbh so I'd just leave it standard looking. Plus its just asking for brick to go through it on the motorway too!.

I prefer the subtle look Audi, where people don't know what's under the bonnet look, but if you plan to go open front bumper, I would have hoped you have have Big Turbo and all sorts under the bonnet, or what is the point?

In my opinion of course.

i thought id hate it, doesnt look too bad although id suggest going BT before being that crude..... you dont want ya **** handed to you by an Evo with your car looking like one

That is the plan once funds recoup....

Opinions are what I want man! :)

you couldnt figure out how to use photoshop either huh? glad i aint the only one lol

i dont hate it, could be very effective visually and functionally with some tweaking imo mate

i think if it was more tapered as it went up towards the headlights rather than a straight vertical line up and try and some how carry on the grey trim round the outside of the recess to make it look like its supposed to be there and it would finsih of the edges nicely too

could you take it up that bit firther and incorporate the grill in it some how or would that be over the top do you reckon, also depends how high up your fmic goes too i suppose
if you did follow this up i reckon you could get a nice cold air feed in there somehwere too

LOL, No, I just don't have a copy on this laptop at work. I can't install hookey software on it really since we're a Microsoft and Adobe house (I work in I.T. BTW), it looks a bit bad....

I agree. The edges look gash on this, but you've got to bear in mind I only used it for a visual representation of an idea. I would never, ever, ever have it look that square, it would have to be blended and lovely etc.

Th front mount does go high enough to make this work, although the crash bar would have to go in the bin....

I think the intercooler showing through the lower grill looks sweet as it is Welly, don't do this mod, think you'd regret it in the long run bud

OK, OK, OK, point taken....

As I said, I wasn't deffo going to do it. I just wanted thoughts from fellow Audi lovers.... lol.

I'm getting a bit of a negative vibe here - so may give it a miss.....

Yup, :puke2:always good to try something different though, just not that!

well why not get another front bumper from a scrappy, dont have to be same coulour or nothing and have a play?

have it as a bit of a side project, i think modifying cars is all about originality/individuality and experimentation, regardless of what people on here would think, i thought something looked good i would do it (viper stripes coming next week lol)
i had a spare rear bumper for one of my clios and i was mucking around with it for a good few weeks smoothing it and altering the shape etc it didnt work out in the end but kept me amused and put my curiousity to rest, just my thoughts

How about some holes rather than chopping it completely?. Perhaps about 5 round holes where the plate was?. Saw it on a 1.8T Mk2 Golf and it looked good.

Oh the tales I have of a place having a bit of a row from MS over their somewhat woolly treatment of the OEM licensing system - oh, Ahead had a pop at them too - it seems that a few of the phone support chaps got into the slack habit of dishing out one code for Nero whenever a customer rang up with problems. Of course downstairs in the tech lab we were all above board 100%. Happy days!

On the subject of the car - I think it's just teasing enough to have the FMIC visibile through the lower grilles. Anyone who needs to be worried by it will know exactly what it's about, and anyone who doesn't will still think it's a very handsome car... Just my 2p's anyway...

Regards,

Rob.

Whilst I TOTALLY agree with what you're saying - there is a bit of a limit to that. For example:

I'm sure that the guy who did this thought it looked good, and it's deffo individual. But looks f**king ****.

I consider you bunch on here to be a of a learned stature and value your opinions highly! Which is why I asked :)

Good points. Thanks.

I dont see what you guys are laughing at, with those red air vents I bet its a pretty quick sleeper :)

Well, it's not handsome nor is it pretty but it certainly does say MODIFIED.

How about an RS4-style bumper, customised?
yeah rs4 style would be better, thats what id do if i was to want a more open front. for the aggresive look your not going to get a big enough return for the poor look imo

Na, if you want aggressive looks then buy an Evo, impreza ect! just my thoughts tho!

Idea on this A4 I think would work on an S3 - thought about doing this myself - some of you may remember this car at Audi in the Park from last year ( i was not there by the way)

the above idea seems better IMO. Big voids in the bumper is a jap thing, not ment for audis and the likes

I was bored so attempted a quick photoshop for you. Did put the number plate on the left hence the shadow but thought it looked better in the middle.

You could probally join both the top and bottom together leaving a big mesh at the front, kind of looking like the new style grill.? but where would the plate go though! How come the s3 wasnt giving the same engine as the s4. or is that a stupid question. im guessing the size of engine?
