Looking for some info. Can anyone tell me if this was an OE interior, or was it a one off conept/show piece? I have already sourced the steering wheel, and we all know those are pole position seats, but was it a factory option? I am especially interested in the black chrome door levers. Any ideas anyone? In essence, if it was a factory option ('s), then it should be possible to get all these parts from the dealers, providing you could obtain the part number....?

IIRC ALL Rs4 had black levers, Byzan A4 has done this mod himself by spraying them

did you get the wheel with the airbag? also check if you have the harness as they are different from s4/a4

thats nice!, never seen black door/dash trim before

the suede gearknob is very easy, strip the o.e leather and reverse it, instant suede knob

I think pole positions were an RS4 option, but i'm not certain.

The handles are standard and are available from Audi, but they're 20-30quid each, and it would be far cheaper to simply get a set from a breakers and have them painted or powdercoated satin black. I'm trying to arrange some for our car atm.

I've heard a few times that the alacantara steering wheel and knobs dont stand up to normal use very well, as the oils from your hands stain them and make them look all ******.

Yep, black door pulls are standard on RS4.

Have seen this pic before and was a debate on it then, cant mind the outcome but sure it was possibly factory done but only to order i think.

The gearknob is alcantara. Ref the steering wheel, I have found a bod on ebay who sells RS4 and S-Line alcantara wheels. They are exactly the same as in the pic....The powdercoating idea seems like a good idea. Sod paying £120 for 4 door levers!! Alcantara is at its best mated to a similar surface (albeit driving/racing gloves). It is not very pourus so sweat can be a problem. If I buy one I will be using my airbag. My leather wheel is bolloxed (very worn/tacky) and I wanted to upgrade to something better. I would like an OE flat bottomed wheel but This + the airbag is a fortune!! I love the DTM look, so will prob end up going Alcantara......

This is the bod on fleabay.......http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330316997511&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

the airbag is totally different and the standard A4 3 spoke airbag will NOT fit.

I have phoned the Audi dealership and they assure me that the airbags are the same....I have also contacted the seller and he tells me the same thing. Luckily I havnt bought anything yet, so you guys can advise before some **** sells me a wheel with a different airbag fitment after telling me its right!!!!!

Surely its a standard part though? Perhaps from a TT or something?
yes i would have thought TT, B6 A4 etc but not standard b5 3 spoke

Gotcha! I can see it now! There is a sligth difference in the shape. So I would need an airbag from a B6. That would bump the price up considerably. Don't think its worth it......You know its a ****** shame some bright spark with the right tools/know how dosn't make some airbag carcesses. Just the plastic shell, with no airbag internals. For people that are not bothered about airbags, it would be ideal. They could make them in any shape, at about 10% the cost of a shell with an airbag built in....

no you don't
search on here, I have that wheel mated to a TT bag. problem is the missing horn ring when you get the wheel.
The ring comes with a harness for the horn and the bag, no connector issues.

I bought the alcantara wheel, a TT wheel (for the ring/harness) (£50) a TT bag (£180). sold my orginal bag for £150, the wheel for £70 and the TT wheel for £50 (minus the ring obviously!) made the alcantara wheel much cheaper when you have sold on all the bits

as for alcantara, yes it does get ******, especially if the greasy ******* at the garage doing my geometry decide to move it around without cleaning their hands! I just whip it of every 6 months or so and give it a good scrub.
cleans up great, no stains.
I got it as I hate the sweaty feeling you get with leather and I am not quite ready for some string back driving gloves.....
Alcantara wheels are a much nicer feeling and this one is thicker than stock. I would do it again in my next car straight away.

The picture is from an Audi options brochure - all the kit was available as optional 'Sportliches' equipment, supplied by Quattrosport Gmbh...

Ahh, thats where the pics from. Interesting.....

I've decided I'm going to get a B6 wheel complete with airbag. Nick the horn ring and the bag, and then put them on the alcantara one. Then put my sport one complete up for sale.

Job done.

I owuld imagine a B6 wheel and bag is more expensive than a TT wheel and bag though.

I searched for my old post but couldn't find it. have some pics if you need any help

RS4 Airbag is listed as PN: 8E0880201S

that number cross references to these cars:

Oddly the part number on the ebay listing is not actually an RS4 wheel.

That wheel is apparently part number 8E0 419 091 AC
the RS4 wheel is part number 8D0419091AC

The part number given is apparently a tiptronic heated wheel from a 03-05 B6 carbio...

i wouldnt mess with airbag internals mate, anyways its a one piece unit as the airbag rips though when deployed

Hello mate. Yeah I spent half the night searching for your post too, and all I could find were the ones where you were advising people on changing wheels/airbags etc.
If you have any pics of the installation, that would be terrific!!

Remember what I was saying about someone knocking out airbag covers/shells only?......I have found some, at a FRACTION of the cost of the complete unit. For those that are not bothered about an airbag, this would be ideal.....I am now seriously considering a flat bottomed wheel due to the fact I wouldnt have to shell out 300+ on an airbag unit. I wonder if you can get this part from the dealer too?.........

Check it out guys.............. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-RS6-RS4-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3caa2e5a18

bit harsh mate, what trims do you have on your car?

Yeah mw too! Sure there will be a second hand set floating around sometime(let the bidding commence!lol!)......I like it so much I was going to do a carbon copy of it minus the yellow. But after carefull consideration I really can't be *****!lol! The blacked tailpipes are nice too, and I LOVE the piano black trim!
