I've been wanting to upgrade the brakes on my 2.0T since getting a remap. There are a set of "Golf R32 Mk6" brakes on eBay right now which I am assuming means the new Golf R as there is no Mk6 R32- the guy selling isn't sure.

Does anyone know whether these brakes will fit my car as the MK5 R32 brakes would? I've currently got standard 18" RS6 style wheels fitted.

This is the advert: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270537737293&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Cheers

The Golf R has black callipers so it's not from that mate. The GTI has red though.

Cheers Leon. Do you know whether the GTI Mk6 brakes are the same size as the S3 and R32 or are just the same size as my current ones - i.e. would it be an upgrade?

No idea Martin but why go for Mk6 anyway mate? S3s come up fairly often on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2008-AUDI-S3-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item335a7060b5

Plus I don't think I'd buy anything car related from someone who doesn't know what car the thing came off of! lol

N8 is the man to ask though

It's only because I had the day off buddy, back to it tomorrow.

Cheers Leon and Nate. I was going to say I haven't seen you on here for a while Leon - did you get your house sorted in the end?

I'm actually watching that set at the moment... I missed out on a set of R32s last night when I left the bidding to the last minute and lost my connection - D'oh! I would have paid more than they went for, too. Fingers crossed for this set tonight.

Nate - I'd love a set like yours but it's a bit outside my budget at the moment.

Yes indeedy :) complete at the end of the month hopefully :yahoo:

Make your budget bigger, then you can get them :ninja:

Fair point I guess - thanks!

Congratulations mate, good luck for the end of the month.

The ebay auction is contradicts itself all around, it says 2009 R32 in the description, then lists spec as 312 front and 285 rear, take a close look and they are MKV GTI brakes

As far as the MK6 Golf R brakes they are the same as the MKV R32 and the 8P S3 but now in black instead of the not so appealing blue:icon_thumright:

Cheers Guys. I won the auction for the S3 brakes that I was watching and that Staz refers to above. I'm not 100% confident about them just yet as the transaction hasn't been the smoothest so far (seller: can't you come and pick them up, I didn't mean to advertise offering freight...). Hopefully it'll work out though and they can fitted at the same time as the MV-Sport exhaust system next week. Then the week after I'm finally getting my new S-Line bumper and black optics grill fitted. Should be looking, sounding and stopping a whole lot better by the end of the month.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty crap start to the sale...

I don't know how he managed to do it but the guy I bought my S3's from only charged £15 for delivery so surely it can't be that bad!

Yeah it's a bit of a trek to get there Martin, surely he can sort you out as it was his mistake

Bummer. But if he is going to eventually send it to you, would it be less than what he is going to charge? I guess that's the only way of working it out...

He's said he will send them now so fingers crossed I will get them ok - I've paid him £30 (as advertised on the auction) to ship them which I reckon should easily cover his costs despite the fact the brakes are heavy. He's around Birmingham while I'm in Surrey so it's a little way to go - certainly more than £30's woth of fuel. I just hope the brakes are as described and in good condition when I do get them, I'm not filled with confidence at the moment!
