Hi everyone, had my s3 for 3 months now and its craving more power. Im 23 with 4 years ncb and no convictions and currently paying £950 a year with elephant.

Asked my insurer about having a revo stage one done (20% power increase) and they came back with £2600!
I have tried direct line, confused and a-plan and all come back around the 2K mark.

Anyone know of a better place to try?

When insurance companys know about a young driver with a remap they take the ****. Try being 20 with dangerous driving charge.

Sheffield (urban) and cumbria (countryside) lol

hi andmax7,

Not sure, tesco were not far off but didnt have windscreen cover. Would go with them if i stuck without the remap as they could do £1200 with protected NCB.

What your paying at the moment sounds cheap!

I have a 2.0 tdi wih 4 years no claim bonus and am 21 and I pay £1300 with Elephant!!

Try Sennocke .

These people were very good at finding affordable insurance(!) for me when I had both a 440bhp Sierra and an ex GpN Escort Cosworth with ALS and several other non-standard mods.

I'm 22, with an 07 s3, 2years ncb (although its over 3 years since last accident) and i pay 780 a year - i'd shop around if i were you!

Just been on the phone to them. Couldnt quote straight away due to the remap but they are getting back to me.

Who is that with? Sounds very good.

What about *cough* not telling them *cough*....

OK, not the best I grant you, but know LOADS of people who have done it - and (on the 8L at least) you can use the SPS switch to just disable the map and and when you need to....

I wouldn't recommend breaking the law - but it gives you a price increase in insurance of 0%...

He can't switch it back if he's in a bad enough accident, and then someone's got hit by an 'uninsured' driver..............don't do it. You're a young guy, hardworking or lucky enough to be driving a pretty quick car already. Either find a better quote or hold off until it does lower.

JMHO.

Admiral are worth a look. Although part of the same group as Elephant they were cheaper for me and have been very mod friendly so far...

Adrian Flux are brokers for NIG who I'm with. I've got a BARGAIN on my insurance. Well worth the price of a phone call.... Tell them that you're a member of a forum, that gets you extra discount!

Has comparethemarket not come up with anything?
See who is lowest based on standard car and ask about remap?

why not just buy a bluefin plug and play so there wouldn't be any need for the insurer to know??:eyebrows:

and if i crash and am unable to do this...

comparethemarket just gave me £1550 with the remap, thats with admiral. could they get it down any further?

if you crash, you reset the factory settings so the insurer hasnt got any idea

i didnt relise elephants were so expensive to insure is it the one with the flappy padel ears and uprated intercooler trunk:undwech:

It's all very well us saying "i'm with x" and so on

But every single company will be different for every single person depending on postcode, age, driving experience/offences

Just have to shop around matey
