Retaining a Reg plate....

It should be ok, as the plate is yours whether the car is on the road or not.

Conditions for retaining a registration number

You can’t retain a registration number starting with ‘Q’ or ‘NIQ’ for Northern Ireland registered vehicles.

To retain the registration number, the vehicle must be:

* registered at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
* available for inspection
* of a type that needs an MOT or heavy goods vehicle (HGV) test certificate
* currently taxed

However, if the vehicle is not taxed, you can still apply to retain provided:

* there is no break between the date the tax disc runs out and the start of the SORN
* and the tax disc run out no more than 12 months before the date you apply

The car has been stood for approx 11 months going onto 12, and the MOT expired 9 months ago, still possible?
