If I was to replace my center box with straight pipe would it still pass MOT?

don't see why not. some milltek aftermarket ones are rear boxed only.
so long as it is not above a certain level at idle and doesn't leak

Coolio. What do you reckon it'll sound like with standard rear box. Want to free up flow mainly, but a little extra vroom wouldn't be a bad thing :)

Mine doesn't have a centre box. Passed it's MOT fine.

Straight through pipe on mine also, passes MOT fine :)

its not the silencer that casues the majority of the restriction, its teh 2.25" bend in the front pipes, can't harm it though.

might get a bit of a drone on the motorway

Right, well that's the plan then. Just have to get a piece made up and fit it.

Nothing wrong with a bit of a drone, will drown out the missus :undwech:

hi gaz mine is minus the center box. passed no probs mate. sound wise well i've been told it sounds like a s4 now. its not load in the car but get the revs rite when slowing down you can get a pop from the back of the car. defo one of the best things i've done. lol

Had my centre box removed. Nice burble now and it cost me £150 to have done. £40 for PowerFlow to make a mess of it and NOT do it as per my instruction and £110 to get a new flexisection welded up elsewhere as I wasn't going to let those clowns at the car a second time.

Oh yes passed the MOT with no bother at all

Mine TQS has a Milltek cat back non-res. I think it sounds great especially above 3 and halk K. The drone can get tiresome on a long journey and if there is any longish hills around where you're doing 60-70mph it is loud. Mine pops on down shift too and if I get it above 5K revs especially 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th I can feel it WHOOMP on the change. Can only just hear it as it is quite loud in the cabin by this stage. MOT's no probs. Do it......

i'm very surprised you'd be getting any popping on overrun with a cat fitted...

It usually occurs at high revs because the management often continues injecting fuel to help cool the pistons, but with a cat fitted, the excess fuel usually simply burns off inside it, and it acts like a flametrap.

I have a milltek too, I like the sound, not too chavvy. Love the downshift burble/pop!
motorways are a bit drony but that is what the stereo is for

I have a (supposedly ****, but I love it) Powerflow system on mine, with the middle box deleted. It's not loud at all. In fact, I was dissapointed at how quiet it was.

But, on hindsight, I would probably have got bored with it if it was boomy/loud/droney... so I'm happy.

And... this morning I've just had my old tailpipe changed from a rounded letterbox style end (that filled the bumper cut-out perfectly) to a more traditional twin round outward rolled design. Looks much better now. Very happy!

I'm no mechanic but mine definately does the pop and sometimes if I've been a very naughty boy it might even go pop pop pop. I do enjoy the upshift whoomp :yum:
