AVS Servicing - Post your quotes and dealers here.

Can't believe anyone is taking their A3 to the Kwik fit cowboys for an oil change, that is a joke right?

Some great prices from Bury St Edmunds Audi there! Which is great because they are about 1/2 a mile from my door step.

I just had my Audi service from the new dealer in Coulsdon (South Croydon, London)

My A3, 2Ltr Turbo Petrol has 23k on the clock, service included:
- Air filter
- Oil
- Oil filter
- Fuel filter
- Replacement rear washer jet

£205.00inc VAT

2007 Audi S3 22k

I've just used SJB Autotech in Basingstoke and was very happy with them. They quoted me the following:

2nd AVS Service - £180
Brake Fluid Change - £46

I phoned my local Audi dealer first but told them to go fish after they quoted me almost £500 for the same?! They also told me the Haldex needed changing, when it doesn't, only gets changed at 40k.

Ok I've got an oil change flash up in 1000 miles but the 2nd service (35k) is not due until another 2700 miles (variable).

My question is should I just bite the bullet and get the service done in 1000 miles or should I not bother getting the oil done until the service is due?

I'm ringing around at the moment for quotes and I'm looking to have the Haldex and DSG oil changed.

Spoke with Newcastle AUDI a couple of times this morning and they have quoted £480 (down from £528.97)for the following:

Basic Service inc inspection check, oil, oil filter - £ 204.73
Air Filter - £23.27
Pollen Filter - £18.46
Spark Plugs - £92.92

DSG Oil Change - £140.59 (oil alone costing £87)
Haldex Oil Change - £49

Not sure what I was expecting it to cost but does £480 seem reasonable to you guys for the above?

Edit: And the above included a courtesy car for the day - I asked for an S3 but they werent having it :)

Harrogate Audi quoted £282.99inc vat for my first long life service on my 170 tdi. I got a car to use, they washed and vacuumed mine, it was ready when they said, and they ended up charging £275 inc. Good job, but a lot of money for what it basically an oil change. The price you pay to have your book stamped!

Just got some quotes for my 06 3.2 DSG

Just got a quote for Haldex fluid change at 40k and DSG oil change £240.91

And long life service, oil+filter, pollen filter and sparkplugs £397.51

These prices from Reading Audi any good? Are Reading audi any good?

Cheers
Tom

Hey,

Just about to come up to my service indicator, any recomendations for the Yorkshire area which dealer to go to and what kind of price could I be looking at?

Thanks everyone

Just collected my A3 from Preston Audi

3rd AVS service £199
Cambelt £329 plus £50 extra for waterpump.

I also paid £65 extra to fix the leaking intercooler pipe seals which they found during the service - which I suspect was a lot for the cost of the seals and the work required to fit them, but it was easier to get that done at the same time....

I did book in during December when these were the special prices posted on audi.co.uk, so their prices might have gone up slightly for new bookings, but they also wrote to me recently after the audi.co.uk prices went up saying that they would now offer discounts off the audi.co.uk published prices if you didn't need a courtesy car or didn't want your car valeting, so you can probably still get a good deal by negotiation...

Hi Mate ,

I got mine serviced from Wakefield Audi today .. I rang Wakefield,York,Huddersfield,Doncaster,Sheffield,Bradford & Leeds to get quotes and the York Audi was cheapest ..So i rang my local Audi i.e Wakefield and spoke to a lady called Rachel Antis .. Told her about the quote i got from York Audi and she offered to match the quote .. £207.37 inc VAT .. As far as service is concerned very pleasant & friendly people plus i live just 10 mins walk from Wakefield Audi so i wasn't fussed about the courtesy car .. I dropped her half 8 in morning and got call at half 11 that car is ready ... plus also got a bag of goodies.

Hi

40k service for A3 3.2 Quattro DSG (its a 2004 at 72k - AVS due in 3000 miles)

Portsmouth Audi/Southampton Audi - price matched each other (although Portsmouth were about £80 more expensive initially).

Ive managed to get it down to £250 because I told them im not paying £110 for spark plugs (ill do them myself). Ill also do the air filter and brake fluid :)

Its basically an oil change and check over for £250! - But I want the Audi stamp.

DSG Change £180, Haldex £70.

For some things they arent any more expensive than a local specialist - which is good.

Don't know whether this is the right place for my question.
Are all dash display errors logged on the ECU, EMU or whatever the car's computer is called?
Is it a standard part of any service to run a diagnostic check?
I bought my car a few months ago and was warned that one of the rear reg plate bulbs was faulty.
The display did show a bulb error.
As the car was not due it's 1st Mot I decided to leave the fault to be sorted during it's 1st service in my possession.
When the service was due I went along to my local Audi franchise - it was like walking into the Taj Mahal...no expense spared.
I told the 'suit' that there was a problem with the reg plate light. When they contacted me to collect the car I asked if the problem had been sorted - I was told no problem had been found but the mechanics would be asked to check again. This was really a 'no brainer' as the light just did not work. When I went to collect the car I asked another 'suit' if the problem had been sorted. He knew nothing of the problem and checked for himself. He found that the light was still faulty and had a mechanic replace the light assembly.
At least 4 people dealt with me for a simple service - a receptionist, 2 'suits' and the mechanic(s). That's why your Audi service costs so much - more 'chiefs' than 'indians'!
The saga doesn't end there. They didn't update my service schedule but therin lies another farce which resulted in my service schedule showing a reduction in mileage between consecutive procedures.
You would laugh at the options I have been offered to resolve this problem.
I will get back to you all and let you know what happened - and the dealer involved if I'm not satisfied.

2004 1.9 50,000 5th year service

Hi Sal,

Thanks for that, I have seen before that York is cheapest and that's not too far for me from Leeds

Exactaly the same quote I have had from Oxford audi I also said i'd do the spark plugs, filters and brake fluid. I can't believe that they want to charge £250 for a service which at Kwik fit cost £50!!!! Day light robbery!!!! But as you said you pay for the stamp.....

Hi guys,

Ended up taking my A3 to Leeds Audi for it's 30k full service (Oil, oil filter, pollen filter plus brake fluid change) and it came to £280. I got them down £5 as York quoted me £270 but it would have cost me more in travel to get there. Fairly happy with the service although they "took the wrong number down so couldn't call me back" even though I gave them 2 mobile numbers. Car was also washed when I asked them not to but they didnt manage to scratch it. Got a bottle of screen wash left in the footwell too although this does seem to have appeared on my invoice for £3.26! Cheeky. I think the work was also done by a midget or someone who likes to drive with their face pressed against the window, they ran up 2.5 miles altogether (so no joy riding my pride and joy!!). All in all I'm happy even though they had had some bad rep in the past on these forums

I just got a 2 years deal for servicing at audi mac for £280 including pick up and delivery 20 miles each way , so im happy .

may 2010 BE sportback , brilliant red

Hi Guys,
This is my first post here ;)

Car: Audi A3 (55 Reg), 3.2 Quattro, DSG, S-Line, 40k miles
Service (40k): Long life + DSG + Haldex
Place: Audi Watford
Price: ~£630

Very expensive but nice place, good customer service and probably most important...The Audi stamp lol

Regards,
Jake.

Leeds Audi

Just had my car serviced today at 91726 miles.

Service was excellent as usual and I requested a courtesy car, so I had a brand spanking new A4 2.0 TDi S Line with only 150 miles on the clock to play with for the day :D It was an automatic as well and they were very helpful in making sure I knew how to drive it. Good job I asked, otherwise I would've been stuck in the car park for a while as it's the first auto I've driven in the UK lol.

I was quoted around £260 over the phone for the AVS service including pollen filter. I also asked them to check for any problems with the turbo and they did so free of charge.

Anyways, the most important part, after reluctantly handing back the courtesy car, the bill came up to £219.87 inc VAT so was more than happy with the price! The cheapest price I could find was around £180 at an independant, but I didn't mind paying extra for the Audi stamp and for the courtesy car.

Just had my '07' S3 done at Huddersfield Audi.
40k Main service inc. Haldex, spark plugs, all filters, oil etc, and free MOT.
£410.

Not bad I thought, and good service and communication.

need a rough price on second service on 06 A3 140 2.0 tdi Sline in North East, thanks.

Just had my service with a company called 'First Call' who are a German Car specialist based in Nailsea nr Bristol. Fantastic service, collected my car and delivered it back, washed and vacuumed. It was major service for £199 + V.A.T. I have a 2.0 TDi 2004 on 129K miles. Can't praise them enough, anyone in the area, I really recommend them. They are really friendly and certainly know their stuff.

recently had 2nd service on S3... 19,200miles...

£261.98 @ Chingford Audi... very smooth process...

Just had a major service today at CT Cars (VAG specialist) in Surrey and it was £180. That was for long life oil, all the filters and what ever else they do. Also they do have a courtsey car that you can book which I thought would be VAG but no it was an 'N' reg Nissan Almera 1.6 shameful does not come close to how I felt driving it but at least it got me to and from the service.

Popped into Yeovil Audi today to get a price for my 3rd AVS Service, they quoted £349.99. As I thought this price was a little steep decided I to phone Taunton Audi who quoted me £248.11 ! Does really annoy me how the prices can range so much from dealer to dealer.

BTW car is a 2005 A3 3.2 Sline

3rd service on a S3...

£249 at Slough
£330 at West London

What a nightmare, Slough it was, turned up, Sir that will be £294 when we finish the work, erm i think not i said, quote was £249. After far too long arguing, even having to call Audi Reading to confirm that they only charge £255, they finally agreed....but then tried to rip me off on the brake fluid change, wanting £100 instead of the £49 you can have when your car is 3 years old....again they agreed to drop, but i want a dealer to service my car, not spend time trying to rip me off, i guess some people just say yes.....last time i'll be through their doors....

Price of the total 1st service @ Audi Southampton £245:
Carry out variable service (20.000 miles): £126
Oil Filter: £9.85
Sumpplug: £1.29
Cleaner: £2.88
Filterelem: £12
Long drain oil: £1.23 / 0.1L = £56.58
Total: 208.6 + TAX

The weird thing is they told me my front tyres are worn out at 2mm :(
I don't think I am driving that much aggressively but maybe the fact that my tyres are at that depth means I should start treating my acceleration pedal more gently and my cornering speed lower.

Does anyone else have any idea about what is the average tyre mileage?
I have done 14K miles in 15 months and I have the bridgestones on a Petrol A3 1.8TFSI 09 Reg.

Thank you.

Mine are at 2mm at 16K, Tyre mileage is about what I am getting on my 58 plate 2.0 tdi CR, my rear tyres are wearing the same rate as the front ones, never had this issue with front wheel cars before, I always got twice the mileage from the rears.
I did note that the bridgestone tryes have a wear rate of 140 where other tyres I have looked at have a wear rate of 200. I have been told the Falken tyres are good which I will replace all 4 at my first service next month. Unless any other people have better suggestions for normal driving style.

Not sure who will service it, I am in Norwich as Bury st Edmunds seem very cheap compared to other local dealers, will post quotes on here in a few weeks when I have them. It will be my first service at 17,000 miles

Sorry in the delay but here are Norwich Audi's ( Robinsons) prices that I was charged.
£225 for the 17K 1st 2yr service ( price matched )
£50 for the Air con service ( Special - reduced so I would have it done)
£400 for 4 new Sport Contact2 tyres - This was quoted for 4 other tryes but they had problems with stock so fitted these instead.
Car was cleaned and ready for when I said I would collect.

S3 was due its 3rd service when i called audi Edinburgh i could not get a straight answer to what costs would be involved but as they quoted me 300 quid instead of the advertised 250 just to get it in the door i was not impressed, when i pointed out there mistake i was told that the 250 was only for models up tp the 2ltr . i pointed out to them that the S3 is infact a 2ltr much to there surprise . so again i asked what would be included in a 3rd service with 37k on the clock , mmmm that depends , on what i asked , well depends on what needs done was there answer *** I THOUGHT .............
in the end went to a independant authorised garage , and no probs
all filters
spark plugs
haldex
oil change
£330 Autohaus just outside Edinburgh
