Hi people,

I am looking to buy some new wheels for my car but im not 100% sure what to get. Im thinking of upgrading from 17" what i have on at the moment up to 18" or 19".

This is what i have got at the moment:

I am thinking of getting these to put on:

Would these be ok? and would they go straight on? i am thinking of lowering the car in the near future aswell.

Any help, feedback or suggestions would be appricated.

Cheers

Bailey

Honestly, i'd wait until you can afford to have it lowered before going for bigger wheels. Your car will almost certainly look like a monster truck.

On an S-Line you can get away with it but not with a sport model.

Surely it wont look as bad as it does now with them wheels, if i got the wheels on first then i could find out how much i could lower it etc etc

Those are the wrong wheels as they are ET35 offset. Whats the rush Bailey, save up and get 19"s and coilovers, job done!

Iv got the money already and i know theres no rush but i want to try and get somat half decent which doesnt cost too much if ya get me? :eyebrows:

What offset do i need? could you point me out on some good 19" ers then and a good (but affordable price) set of coilovers

Hi Bailey, it almost sounds like you've made your mind up to buy them already!

I personally, would have a look at the genuine "RS6 style" alloys, if that's what your after, as there are normally loads of good condition ones around on e-bay and would be a lot stronger and a bit lighter. Only make sure you get the right off set (ET54 offset and 5 stud PCD 112)!

I've seen genuine sets go for £450 with good tyres on!

Have a look for S-line suspension or coilovers while you're there you may get lucky!

Will pm you later Bailey.

Bailey,

Yours is a sport so won't look quite as low as Robby's, I've just done RS6's with ET of 42 to my Sport, before I did suspension it did look a bit daft, I dubbed my car an A3 Allroad! Just done suspension from DPM and will be posting pics in a new thread later.

N8 and Boydie, 19's and Coils = Def WIN, if only it didn't cost so damn much to get that kind of ace set up, I feel sad now.

SO back on topic people haha! i would like a similar result to robbys. i dont mind either 19" or 18" but its gotta be RS6 alloys.

Can anybody actually find me some on the internet with the correct offset and would fit my motor? the same with coilovers aswell?

ta

Bailey, some inspiration for youhere, this guy is a member on here I think, couldn't find the original thread. Anyhow, 19" RS6 and dropped def on coilies too as it's real low. Enjoy

from that pic i think 18's may be better! i duno! its jus me but it seems too damn big with them wheels on there!

Like I said in my thread ref wheels and suspension, for the driving I do I was wanting a softer ride and not worry about grounding it etc, and some of the places I leave it for work I think 19's may make it stand out too much and attract the 'wrong' kind of attention.

You do what makes you happy Bailey!!!

And N8, I'm jealous. I'll save 19's for my next passat or A4 Cab....

Just to show you, I ain't no stranger to 19's

i see now, now i have to find somers6 with the offset ET54 offset and 5 stud PCD 112

Is ET54 5 Stud PCD 112 the correct offset i would definatly need?

These are my current wheels again:

i'm not sure on the offset but I would certainly go with 18" in those style rims as the 19" (in that style) don't look good on the A3 (IMHO of course)

There other 19" that do look really good, the BBS CH for exmaple, but you do really need to lower the car or it looks ridiculous.

Greek Gods = Win

And to just to round off this lovely little conversation..

Did you know that the oldest know specimen of a wheel was discovered in Mesopotamia (the name is of Greek origin, meaning "the land between two rivers") dating back to 3.500BC :tumble:

Beanoir, I found the 1st wheel in 1993 in my grandads workshop he told me that was the 1st ever wheel, was he lying, he's dead now, WTF am I to believe?????

Bailey, if you don't go Pony trecking on the replicas and manage to get fixed up with some OEM 19's say A6n or maybe some mega costly Bentley wheels etc just be careful on the Offset or ET as you said the A3 OEMs are ET54 and the smaller the number the wider they are, mine are ET 42 so stick out 10mm more than the standard wheels. Not so bad when you only do a reasonable sized 18" wheel with a moderate drop, if you go 19" and coilovers you need to take advice prob off N8 or others with similar set ups, be interesting to see what ET the Greek god sunshine Phaeton wheels are and how they tuck in the arches? PIC N8? Like to see the pics. As Beanoir quite rightly said BBS CH are amazing looking wheels (if you can afford a set that is, I'm buying supermoto bikes and and a dog at the mo 'yeh I like dags' serious resource drain). Best go to do some work now.......:bye:

Helios are ET45, sit perfect on the front, but need spacing out slightly on the rear, but I quite regularly carry 3 passengers so I don't want rubbing, may try 6mm/8mm. I have 3 sets of Bentleys for sale and also have 1 set of BBS splits coming in soon..

You know i want those BBS, hope they are 18"!!!

Been looking for ages, and now that i got to change tyres, it`s the perfect time to size it up a notch!
