So do you need to remove the spoiler to replace the rear screen? Hopefully being fixed tomorrow...

Got the ******** on my CCTV camera, doesn't look like he got away with anything... he only stayed around for about 7 seconds after smashing the glass having a good search in the boot. Checked the car out about 2min earlier.

Why do people do this? There was no reason to want to get in my boot, it was just done on the off chance by the looks of it.

Shame the car was on the road as the CCTV isn't good enough for evidence.

Oh and FYI, it takes 3 attempts with a sizeable stone to smash the rear window on an Avant lol.

Just worried now as the car is on the drive with no rear screen :(
 
same happened to my dads outside my place. felt terrible they got his laptop wallet key everything in his briefcase. bit silly to leave it in there but still gutting isnt it.

Feel for you matey ! My A4 Avant (same colour as yours) is always put away in my garage - these days there are just to many tossers out there who seem to enjoy damaging your pride & joy....they seem to get some sort of kick out of it....my car was recently badly scratched by a complete ar$e.....and it was me who had to pay for the repair ....
Well, as they say (Karma) "what goes around comes around" and hopefully one day the person(s) who did that to your car will have the same happen to them !
 
wonderful! cant get replacement glass until next week! so i have a wonderfully exposed car all weekend :(
 
Sorry to hear about this, some people are just a waste of oxygen. As said already "what goes around comes around", so someday they will get there's.
Cant help but notice your boot cover looks like it was closed, i always leave mine open so if anyone looks in they can see that the boot is empty.
Hope you get it sorted ok and that the weather holds out till its repaired.
 
Ahhhhh Mate, I can imagine the Fury inside! Just makes you sick dont it. The mrs always says to me I spend too much time looking out the window but when you got ****** like this that think its ok to do what they do then atleast I stand a chance of seeing or catching who it is.

Who's sorting your new screen for you??
 
thanks guys! what winds me up is I had been out to get a curry and had not been home 10min! had literally just got it on the plates...
I was kicking myself too as I remember pulling up thinking... put car on drive now? or later? wanting food quite desperately i thought "later"....

Oh well... these things happen... I am just now shopping for a 200x zoom PTZ camera as the latest addition to my CCTV system! haha
I spent too much time looking at my cameras as it is!

Never thought of leaving the load cover open when nothing was in the boot... Will try that from now on..
Just going to book the car in for tints next weekend.. What % do you guys think I should get?

Insurance co have put me onto some local place for a new screen... who i am not impressed with already :(
 
Most insurances hate it when you ring them up, they're quick to hound you when you go for a quote with them though!

Depends how Dark you want to go. Our glass is already tinted remember so maybe get them to put a few testers up to see how far you want to go.
I went 25% both sides and 50% rear screen (blue one), does look pretty light in the sun but perfect for night time driving, if you want to go darker at the rear then maybe 50% rear sides and rear screen with 25% up front (like my old one) I did find that the red one at night was really dark but still good visabilaty:

mmmmm nice A4 J7USS, are you front windows tinted too?

Thinking 35% rear (from B pillar)... and not sure if i should get the front done or not...
 
Yes on my blue one its 25% all 4 side windows and 50% rear screen
The red one has 25% the 2 fronts and 50% the rest.

If i had of known I would have gone for 35% all round and 50% rear screen on the blue one but wanted the fronts only slightly tinted and having 50% rear screen darkens the rest. The pic aint the best because the Sun is glaring so makes it look lighter but infact its a little darker but maybe I could have gone just a tad shade more!

Id still go for a gentle tint on the fronts though mate as it will blend better, having just the rears done alone looks odd IMO but it entirely up to you as its for your taste.
Just tell the Mrs it'll be nice and cooler for her in the summer ;)
 
What did you guys pay if you don't mind me asking? I am being quoted £175 for All round and £150 for B Pillar backwards..

To be honest, my load cover is always open, because when it is shut and i go over any bumps in the road it comes open on its own and it recoils quite hard.....And dont really want it breaking.
 
We bought a year old A4, had it 6 weeks and some little ***** did 3.5k worth of damage to it! 1.5k of damage on my van and did the same to 8 other cars that night! The police caught the person in question running away from the scene, arrested him then took no further action! Where is the justice!? I'll tell you where, right here cos i found out who it was and....well he wont be kicking cars anymore
 
just played hell with the insurance co and they are allocating another company... should be out this eve to fit a new screen or just a temp one! woop!

Hell yeah Im totally with you on that one, cover your tracks and you cant go wrong. You cant rely on the police anymore, they just dont give a sh*t!!

Sounds about right that does.
I paid £120 for mine on mates rates and he's real good, takes his time and takes off what panels he needs to take off and importantly does the rear screen in one piece unlike some of the lazy clowns ive had in the past!

If you was near leicester mate, I could have saved you £50 all round. The 3 back windows he charges £95 so my neighbour told me earlier.

Have you decided what tint you going for yet?

Just so you guys know, thanks to the poster about who commented on the RAC, i called the insurance co back and "had words"... the rear screen is now booked in to be replaced at 2am tonight with autoglass, rather than next wed / thursday with the mickey mouse company they first appointed! well done!

I am not close to leicester at all, I will be coming from Manchester. :)
 
Chris- a company called designer wheels that is a sponsor on here does this and I can recommend the company for sure. He's only down the road from me too so a lot nearer for you!

haha, no i had to go to him!

Just got in from having the window replaced, stood and watched the whole thing... Was quite interesting.
Didn't Start until 3am as the guy got called out to another job before mine, so we met at the depot at 3am.

The bloke that i met there got brownie points straight away as the first things he said were a few complements from observations of my A4 :)

Was a bit worried at first as it would seem my spoiler is glued and screwed on!! so it wouldnt budge, but some creative moving of the screen and we managed to get it to slide in under the spoiler just nicely!

The fit all in all is very good, so credit to the guy that fitted it for that.. the only thing i could find was its possibly 1 - 2mm further over to one side.. but that is A) my boot is a bit squiffy, or B) i am just being picky!
Will compare with another avant when i see one :)

So we are all done now ready for tints next weekend :)

Wound defiantly recommend auto glass to anyone!!

Now time for some sleep!

Mind you, Id make any excuse to go out for a long cruise in the Motor, I only do around 3k a yr in my motors, I live in my Van!!!

sorry to see this has happened. is there a street light outside your house where you parked temporarily before parking it on the driveway?
