I just want the capability to play videos/movies on my RNS-E screen

i have an alpine kce 425i as well as the kufatec to get full ipod control and play videos through my ipod

Hopefully get this installed today or tomorrow

And then what can i use to play the video?

Don't have an ipod

I've had 4 and all of them have broken

i use a simular interface to the kufatec one and i got myself a cheap 12v single din dvd player for the glove box for about £40, works a treat.

You would think that as they have a DVD drive and screen in an RNSE
...they would incorporate the ability for one to work with the other.

paddy, its audi were talkin about mate ! do you really think they would do something as simple and straight forward as that, especially when you can pay them the other arm and leg you have to upgrade to tv tuners etc lmfao....

LOL ya right Lea.....anybody who can charge extra on top of £30k to have proper interior lights fitted is not going to give you video. what a rip of these audi's really are :faint:

A question. Why on earth would anyone want to watch a video on a small screen in the front seats of a car.

I can see the attraction if i'm honest, I personally dont have RNSe but I use my iPhone mounted in a cradle and plugged into a hidden aux behind the dash, allows films, live TV, music, DAB Radio etc etc to be played through the speakers.

It's handy if you have a job that involves you waiting around in the car, or you like to wait in the car while your lady does the shopping, comes in handy for those kind of occasions, I wouldn't suggest watching the whole of Season 7 of 24 back to back in the comfort of your front drviers seat though, that might get a tad uncomfortable! hehe

I just have visions of people driving along the motorway at 80-90 mph watching a video on the screen. Scary!!.

Idea came into my head for meets and stuff that i attend regularly with my old forum

E.g. i've got a rolling road day the weekend, my car will spend 5 mins on the dyno, then i'll be waiting for everyone else to finish

I'd rather sit in my car watching a film with some mates than standing around like a lemon :)

No i'd never do that! 80-90mph however, that's a different story :rockwoot:

I personally have no problem at all to anyone watching anything on an RNS-E screen WHILST THE CAR IS STATIONERY. It's the number of members who seem to want to override the auto-cutoff when moving system that bothers me. There can be no other reason for this than to have the screen working whilst they are driving. The law says, for obvious reasons, that no such screen with TV or Video should be within the drivers field of view. It's this I find particularly scary for everyone else on the road.

Your rns-e may need hacks to work for VIM & yes needs coding.
