Hi guys,

I have VAG COM and the correct lead etc. I have also done the usual small mods (autolocking, alarm bleeb and double click unlock).

However, before I get the car mapped, is it possible to check how "well" the engine is, with regards to MAF readings, bhp and torque?

If someone has the readings as they should be for normal parameters, as well as any print screens to show where exactly in VAG COM the data can be brought up, that would be greatly appreciated :)

Just want to see if my car is running as it should be, or whether I have any pressure/boost leaks etc as I really wouldn't know if I have as I am still not use to the power!

In vag com, click on the "engine 01" button. Next screen click "Measuring blocks". Then in each of the lines select block: 03, then 08.

Then do this separately for block 11

To log the runs there is a log button underneath. Please excuse me if I got the wrong blocks for your car. But that is how I got all the info I needed to start working on my remap.

Sorry for double posting... But you need to hit the marker button 3 times to do third gear runs; add this as the last step. ;-)

I am sure that this will make more sense when I have VAG COM infront of me, lol!

So I take it I need to have the cable plugged in and go for a drive? Sorry, N00B alert!!

Plug cable in and go to engine and block 120, then click on log (give the file a name) then "start".

Ideally to get a smooth graph/reading you want to get into 4th gear at about 1200 rpm on a straight road then floor it all the way up to the redline.

You then copy and paste the info from your log file into the spreadsheet above and you will get a nice graph.

Noob question, but can you get your car to Autolock when you drive off. My GF's clio does it when she goes above 5mph, all I had to do was hold down the 'lock door button' on the dash and that activates it. Tried the same in the S3 'lock door button' with no luck !

So plug cable in, log into VAG COM and do the selections, then go out in the car and press "start" when I'm in 4th at 1200?

You can onlydo it with VAGCOM on the Audi mate. I had a clio 182 and it was well easy just to hold the button down to activate/ deactivate.

With VAG COM. By memory you're close by. Simple case of plug in, run a few quick programs and gives you options to change the coding to a new figure which brings the options into play.

My Clio having autolock was the main reason for me doing my S3 as well :)

What I tend to do is find a layby or somewhere to pull over before doing my run, then I start the logging and pull off. You can always cut out all the crap from the log file afterwards. You will only be interested in the smooth climb of revs from 1200 to redline in the log file.

I have a private racetrack near by so will click start like you say. Thinking 12pm tonight, lol.

(If anyone fancies a run out on the M60, I'll be at junction 18 tonight ;))

I tend to put the laptop on the back seat or close the lid so it doesn't temp you to look at it while you're logging at speed!

Lol, good point well made! Actually thinking about it there are tunnels near me with a layby at each end. Perfect.

Yer i'd fancy doing mine as well, not imperative though. Cause I not got VAGCOM lol

VAG COM is the software chap, be perfectly happy to do it for you. Not rocket science and I have the cable, but only if you are happy for me to do it mate.

Bascially chap, have a quick read through this;

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...20-eBay-VAG-COM-Cable-Walkthrough-*Revisited*

I then use this program to choose the right coding for the S3, from the original code (adds the necessary +/- numbers for a new code by selecting and option);

Had a brief read, seems like you can do a fair bit of usefull stuff. Why did Audi not just enable "auto lock" as default though or at least give you a option lol. Think i may take you up on your offer, yer i'm local - just a bit down the A34

im doing the same thing,

most details are on rosstech site. good one to try is meauring blocks 115, this does requested boost and actual boost i believe. So basically says if you have boost leak, which is what mine is complaining off. Most likely the DV id say but im also a audi 'noob'

like said just click log, when you start testing and it will produce a spreadsheet which will give you an idea of whats going on. You can find the logs under the vagcom directory under 'program files'

Once you have a maximum MAF reading you divide it by 0.8 to get horse power

Mine works out at 250bhp (stage one remap)

200g/s MAf reading at about 5700rpm
