Hi folks about to buy an S3,help!

Hi people I'm on the verge of buying an S3 and I have a budget of around 24k, I'm not really bothered whether it's a facelifted car or not although that would be nice and it must be approved used.

Three of the cars im looking at are :

A sprint blue example with 28k on the clock 08 with recaro's and a fairly full spec for £21,500

A sprint blue with 25k on the clock 07 without recaro's but most other options for £20,500

and finally a sprint blue with about 7k on the clock 09 and facelifted with bose and not much else for £24,500

Does the mileage really matter if its under 30k?

Or is the 09 the best value as its the newest even although it's not greatly spec'd

Oh and guess what colour I like

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated

Not bad prices Id say, I've been looking for S3's and have had much worse prices.

If your not too bothered on the buckets you could always flog them, you should be able to grab £1.5k for them on the bay or the forum...

If it was me, Id got for the 09... low mileage, newer and facelifted and the biggest extra, the RNS-E Sat Nav Unit can be grabbed for £500.

i'd prefer the fully loaded car, depends on the length youre lookng to have the car and the miles yo would be doing in it though

Nah, love it - great cars!!

The spec and price of the first one doesnt seem bad - are they dealer or private prices?

Check on them for clutch slippage, creaky steering racks, broken armrest clasp and a droopy glove box lid. a part from them, not much else goes wrong with them.

Thanks for the replies guys,the cars are all approved used from audi dealers and I'm looking to keep the car for a good couple of years doing around the 12k miles a year in it.

The first one is really tempting me especially because of the price however the 09 is basically a new car & I was wrong about the 7k its actually only done 3.5k...

If you can afford it i'd go for the 09 car, as people have said, most options can be retrofitted apart from Auto Wipers that requires a new windscreen etc.

Just had a look at the thread..fantastic,just about everything you'd planned to do to the car is the same as what I want to do!
I've got it down to 2 cars now,my biggest question is about the mileage. I know these cars can go for many many thousands of miles but would you buy an S3 with 28k on it?it's an 08 plate model with a very good spec including the recaros.

The other option has done 17k 57 plate with much the same spec minus recaros but it has the black styling pack(not sure how I feel about that)

the 08 plate is about £1000 cheaper.

Infact Boydie I've had a thought,there was one that had done 25k and was an 07 but quite a bit cheaper. The only problem for me was that it didnt have the flat bottomed steering wheel- how much do you think I could pick one of those up for?

Hi guys just a quick update

I've put a deposit down on an 08 27k sprint blue S3 with recaros,flat-bottomed wheel,Bose,armrest and couple of other things I've no doubt missed, pretty excited about getting it I should have it sometime next week!

Nice one craig! I was going to say that mattandrew has a FBMFSW for sale - he asked me the other day if I knew anyone looking!

When you get it, get the pics up and spec! There are quite a few cool retrofits out there to maximise your options list!

I have currently fitted the FBMFSW, Cruise, RNS-E, TT Vents and plan to fit the facelift interior switches eventually.

Thanks Boydie the RNS-E is definetly the first retrofit I'll do, I done that on my old 3.2 a3 and loved it.
Do you have the tv reception on yours?I never had it on my old car but I'd look into it on this one!

as soon as I get it it and give it a good wash clean and seal I'll fire up a few pics!

The facelift interior switches are cool looks like they add an even more premium feel to the cabin

I have an alpine kce-425i media adaptor to fit to mine to allow full ipod control - hopefully have this installed before the weekend so I will update my thread when I get it done
