Hi guys and gals do any of you know if an A3 rear wiper motor wiper motor off a 97/98,,,,, will fit my 97 avant and has any one got or know of some gearbox/engine mounts for a AEB 1.8T Avant
Cheers Gareth:icon_thumright:

i think the wiper motor fits, but when i looked on ebay used ones were selling for 40quid, and a new one from ecp is only 55-60ish

I think i have a spare wiper motor off a 96 A4 avant if you still need one .

are you replacing the motor as its stopped working? rear wiper didnt work on mine when i got it, took the motor apart and the brushes were covered in crap. cleaned with solvents, put it back together and works fine now :)

It usually gets covered in crap because the brass pipe that carries screenwash to the jet siezes and snaps, dumping the screenwash into the motor internals

it was more dirt and dust that had built up with mine. stopped the brushes making contact with the rotor. Everything else seemed ok ('97 - 150,000 miles)

I've removed mine and blanked the washer pipe off. Worked fine but I never used it! Always coat the rear screen in rainx and dirt/water is never a problem. Covered the hole with some carbon fibre. Looks ok. The rear is much more asthetic now. Someone mentioned it on here a while back and it got me thinking.

originally i was going to do this, but after driving the car a while i realised how much i use the rear wiper. how many miles/how long does it stay clear for with Rainx?

I clean my car once a week. Afterwards I put on several layers of rainx(apply/buff off/apply/buff off etc etc) and the rear window has good visibility all week. Bearing in mind I do 340 commutable miles a week, its not bad! If you want a pic of my car to see how the tail looks without a wiper look on the last page of the pics thread. Mines the santorin blue avant.

cool. i do about the same number of miles, and my rear screen would be dirty after a day, especially in this weather lol

951 just pm'ed you butty,,,,
It has not worked since i bought it so took a look at it the other day and all there are bits missing,, i found a little black thing wich i worked out that it was the end cap i found that when i took the panel off in the boot. my local scrappy got an A3 with the rear wiper but not sure if it fitted
