Hi, have searched and this seems to have been covered many times. The general concensus seems to be don't get one. I have one of these already fitted to my car. The previous owner said it used to throw up a warning light until he had it re-setup and now it's ok (which it is, no warning lights). The dump noise on mine isn't loud at all so wondering if it's been setup to recirc 95% of the air, enough to keep the ECU happy. Is this possible with the Split-R?

Not sure whether to just replace it at some point anyway. Gonna be getting full exhaust and FMIC, then stage 2 remap, so maybe worth changing then? What are peoples opinions??

Sound to me like it may have been completely closed off so that it just recircs or, like you say, is only dumping very slightly. If this is the case then you might as well change it for a forge 007P or similar recirc valve and flog the split-R.

Had one on mine for must be over 2 years now. Never caused any issues and was rolling roaded at 212 bhp iirc so its not doing any harm.

Mines not set to make a noise though so can't answer that question. I would of bought the standard forge one but got mine cheap.

Ok, cheers guys. Have been reading lots of threads saying it causes the engine to run rich which can affect things in the long run. Think I'll definately change it when the mods come along, just to be safe.

Hey Pete, IIRC I had it set to about 20 clicks clockwise, but I reckon you could sell the Split-R on ebay for the price of a new 007p as these are cheaper. I had a 007p on my 1.8T Quattro and TBH if I could turn the clocks back I would have just got the 007p for the S3 as I never really noticed any difference in noise or performance between the two. Just make sure you get the correct coloured spring if you go for one as obviously the car is remapped!

Do you notice any performance issues between the standard plastic dv and the uprated forge one?, apart from the forge being stronger.

I think so but that could just be the Placebo effect. The biggest reason to get one over an OEM item is its more reliable, especially after the cars remapped.

Where can you buy the colour springs from and secondly, if my S3 BAM is @ stage two now, which spring / how many clicks should I turn the Splitter-R to?

Ok, cheers Andy. Nothing is wrong at the moment but have read alot of bad things about the Split-R on the S3, so thinking of changing to the 007P just to be safe. Not all that fussed about a dump noise anyway. From what I remember the yellow spring is the standard one, but if remapped or running the DV in reverse, then the green one is the one to get. Could be wrong though, been a while..

All's good with the S3 by the way, just bought some TVR calipers from Ebay and discs to go with. Hope you're not missing her too much? Any plans for a Bora yet then?

****** hell man - the discs are brand new! lol. One thing that did need doing that I didn't get round to was to bleed the brakes.

Missing her like crazy. I just dont want to leave the house as it means driving that Peugeot (Its a bit like the White Beetle on Top Gear when they cross the desert lol)

Keep searching through Autotrader, Pistonheads ebay etc for the right Bora. Not in any real rush as the Peugeot is still working....for now lol

lol, yeh the fronts are in very good condition, but miss the security and braking of the Brembo's on my Integra. Will obviously give them a good bleed when I fit them. Not sure whether to sell the oem discs and calipers yet or keep hold incase I ever need them.

At least at the moment you'll be saving some money driving the pug. The missis' 207 diesel gets 45-50 mpg. :icon_thumright:
