i went to weston performance today with my S3 haveing REVO stage 1 remap uprated dv and a pipercross filter .
as i havent been there in some years as i had a subaru sti type r with a 2.5 and loads of mods that weston done for me running 403 bhp and 412fpt .
so we put the car on the rollers and greg was asking me what do i think it will pull .
and i said about 300 ish going buy revo and many forum members say there cars get up to and beond.
so im waiting in th dyno cell watching greg and the car and after 4 runs it only made 287.5 bhp and 285fpt .
in witch my face droped to the floor thinking omg im so in for it now greg is gona give it me now as we was takeing the **** out of each others cars before it went on the rollers and me saying 300bhp easy and 287.5 wtf .
and when i first went to midland vw jody told me revo soft ware is **** and he no longer use them and had opted for custom codes .
so what dyno figgers have you boys been getting with revo / cc tuinig / giac / and other soft ware on the market ?.

Ive recently got mine done at Star Performance it was dyno'd at 328 bhp 321 lbs/ft with GIAC remap and ITG intake.
There will be natural variation between different dyno's and conditions etc but yours seems way off the pace!

Chris.

I know thats why i was so shocked when it only got to 287.5 and it makes me think £499 for 22bhp abit of a bum deal .
and now has me thinking weather to go with another soft ware for my stage 2+ in two weeks time

Unless you're comparing before and after a map, then a dyno run in it's own right means nothing.

You could take it elsewhere and get a much higher reading - then no doubt you'd feel happier.

Does the car feel significantly quicker than it did pre-map?

I would say it feels faster yes but for 300 bhp my subaru would have ****** over audi it when it was standerd .
but because the audi is fully loaded buckets ect ect i just put it down to the extra weight as subarus are make of paper mas hay ant they .+ light weight body work .
im thinking about ringing revo to ask there advice monday

I would get it dyno some where else to see what figures it comes up with then,if still low then you have an issue,is the car standard apart from the map or exhaust, induction etc? also are you sure the dv hasnt split or something a like,i am not a fan of Revo software myself but i know the figures they have been getting on dyno's are good so should imagine there is some other underlyng problem somewhere

the car has a forge dv pipercross filter and revo stage 1 softwear . but in two weeks its going in for a milltek /evoms om going to fit my self /fuel pump and stage 2+ softwear .
but im now thinking of useing differnt softwear.
how/what do i need to find any falt coads on the ecu?

where are you living? then ask on here where is a good place to take the car to near where you live to have it plugged in

Id be going back where i got it done and asking for answers. My S3 has been running Revo Stg 1 for a while now and i love it, far more power and more fun to drive. I would be quite gutted if i put mine on the rollers and i made under 300bhp, once i go stage 2+ i will stick mine on the rollers to see what it makes.

i hope so if revo soft ware dont perform then ill try another type and see how the car gets on

Few questions....
Did you have the revo 1 done ?
Surely they did a before and after run ?
Can you be sure it really was revo'd ?

As V6 pete pointed out, these figures mean nothing without before and after on the same dyno

Not sure if this helps but when mine was Stage 1 (with Bluefin) it made 296bhp. Then I switched to Revo and it made 322bhp on Stage 1. Then added Forge CAI and Milltek TBE and it made 342bhp. Then Stage 2+ and 360bhp. That's what to expect - may be something up with the car ? Get someone with Vagcom to help you do some logs on it - check Boost pressures etc. It is very low that result.

Just to echo what Igg and the guys have already said, something doesnt sound right here.

I have Stage 1 REVO and having not had a dyno run yet, the car feels MUCH quicker than standard.

And its the first time Ive heard this type of negative feedback so I would give the guys at REVO HQ a call.
There are a very helpful bunch.

Good luck
Paul

Do you wear a disguise in the van then Nat :)

Was driving alongside you the other day Iggu! But I was in my van, so you wouldn't have recognised me!

You should have beeped mate - I'd have recognised you. Was my car looking filthy ? Hope all is well your end Nate: must catch up soon.

it is stage 1 and i have the revo selec as well .
there is a guy who lives round the corner from me who remaps car tune tec ltd so i think im gona get him to plug it in and see whats what .

another tuning company will not be able to read the ecu revo code. revo encrypt the data from others stealing it, so only revo or a revo dealer can alter/modify this. I think you may have been given the trial software which usually produces less power, just a guess :S But yes I'd be annoyed if it only makde that much

All of you on this forum and most other UK ones seems to be concerned with the power/torque at the fly, which depending on the dyno in question can vary wildy, according to how accurately the dyno calculates transmision losses on the coast down which varies a lot as you know.
WHBHP & WHlbft are far more relevant as thats what's actually getting to the road, i dont know why more tuners & drivers in the UK don't quote those figures instead, like across the pond. Well I do partly because it alllows the tuner to add more drivetrain loss and bum up his figures to the customer.

i just hope after the exhaust fuel pump and evoms then a remap it makes good power .
when you have it remaped should it be done on a rr as this company who done the remap dont have a rr .

You would be suprised mate there are a few companys reading each others data at the minute and guess what non of them agree with each others ways of making the power, this i know for definate

yep there are and I know for a fact that no one (or hardly anyone) can read the ecu if its got a revo code on it or even had revo trial! Many tuners are now looking to block other tuners from reading their software by encrypting it. This is good so tuners can be recognised by their own software but bad for customers as car dealers will not also be able to read the ecu, so will have to go back to the tuner to return to original.

I think as others have said maybe take it back and see. I think people who promote other tuning companies will do so for business. Mine is an 8l s3 with revo and jody maintains that for me and says it's a very good map. Strong throughout. Definately sounds like somethings not right withyour figures though.

Im going to ring revo in the morning and have a chat about it and hope something can be done .
as i dont wana have all this hard ware fitted and still end up with **** bhp figers .

I say again
If you dont know what the pre remap figures were then you cant blame Revo..If you car was giving just 10% down on power then you would have 260bhp -10% = 234bhp. you now have 287bhp, an increase of 54bhp which is respectable. there are dozens of reasons why a engine might be down 10% and its unlikely you would even notice. Before you blame the map you need to check boost pressure, compression, fault codes etc and even verify that it was mapped at all and not just a healthy std engine,

How do i check boost pressure /and the falt coads is there a had set i plug in that will tell me this mate

No worries Andy, nah it wasn't too bad, not the cleanest  You were on your fone, ok take care Andy....

I took my car to AVP in burton today and the pluged his lap top in to my car to do aa data log .
and my revo map was on defalt and was not set up right so bed put it right and it pulls alot stronger now .
and it allso come back with
000010 - camshaft positioner [ bank 1 intake ] slow response
p000a -008 - implausible signal - intermittent
freeze frame:
fault status: 00101000
fault priority: 0
fault frequency: 4
milaeage 37081 km
time indication: 0
and some other boring info
so now im off to audi in coventry in the morning to tell them all about this problem and hope they will fix it under warranty .
as ben told me they would .
in turn now i cant go stage 2+ untill this is sorted but i was so looking forward to fitting my evoms that come today grrrrrrrrrrrr .

is that with any hard ware mate and what stage revo are you running ?
