Alright detailers, need some help with steamy windows on my 1995 Toyota Rav4. The problem with the car is it has crap ventilation, and no aircon, the windows have been a nightmare during the snowy and wet weather we've been having!

Is there anything I can apply to the inside of the windows to reduce or eliminate this? I actually put a coat of RainX on the insides last month to try it out, and whilst it beads away water, it doesn't reduce condensation build up.

HELP!

jojo, AutoSmart do a glass polish called Silver Screen (I believe..) I have some, but, a bit 'meh' with the results!

My problem is I constantly have damp cloths, water and product in the back off my car - sometimes for two or three nights in a row. As you can imagine, it gets damp and mists up instantly.

Not so much for the windows, but, I find driving a few miles with the windows down slightly gives a fair bit of air-flow and rids some of the dampness.

Have a search over on DetailingWorld. No doubt someone there will have a better answer for you!

Hi. I had this problem with my other halfs freelander (crap cars, but thats another story...). This is going to sound odd, but it works. On anything glass or plastic/perspex etc. Get a bottle of Lynx shower gel (it has to be lynx, theres something in it that others do not have, dont know what!), squirt some onto a tissue and rub it into the glass untill it dissapears. Do this to the inside of the whole window. It will stop the glass misting up. I know this because I was in Northern Ireland on riot control in 2000. Me and the lads did this to the inside of our protective visors on our helmets to stop them steaming up. It worked a treat! So 9 years later had the same idea to try it on the freelander. Worked a treat too! Sounds strange, but if its good enough for the soldiers its good enough for anyones motor! Your car will smell nice too! Lol!...give it a try.

Maybe stop yanking the crank in the car might help Joey................................................

Rav 4, Lynx shower gel & you say no kinkyness, wtf, lol

How is the dogging scene these days Joey.............................................

LMAO too! How the hell did kinky, steamy and shower gel appear in the same post?! Anyway Jo, let me know how you get on (with the window dramas that is! Lol).

We used to use Africa too funnily enough. Naffi had a special on!

Hope it goes well.....

anything soap based is good, example, steamy mirrors in a bathroom....get bar of soap rub in hand then smear over mirror, stops it steaming up especially when trying to shave haha

Just a quick update with this, IT ****** WORKS!

As I was a bit optimistic, I only tried it on one window, and during the application stage, the window in question was a little condensed, so rubbing it in circular motions was lathering it up, so it took a few attempts to buff it off. Needed to wait a week for rain to test it out, and it's the only clear window in the car! Missus wasn't happy with smelling of 'Africa' though during her drives, but that cleared up after a few days lol.

Thats hilarious, lol, ****** amazing how the little almost unthought of things would resolve issues like these.

OT, Hey UP Lad thy be on 12k posts now you post whore

Glad to hear it worked JOJO....(I knew it would, if it didn't we all would have been blind and been filled in by the rioters!).
