I understand I will need a new bonnet , bumper , grill etc but I was wondering will I need a new rear bumper to get the S3 look or can I add the 2 extra bits to mine. Cheers

Im sure NHN made the lower defuser fit with a bit of cutting but it is slighty different. What I will say is it wont match as the rear has the bump strips and the front wont if you change to the S3.

the bumper itself (excluding the lower diffuser) is slightly different on an s3 to a 2004 a3. It depends if you want it exact. However i believe the 07 and 09 s3 rear bumpers are the same. Just the diffuser is different.

I have a similar question actually... after months and months of deliberation I've decided to convert the front end of my 04 S-Line to the 06-07 S-Line bumper/grille. Finally started buying parts - woohoo!

Anyway, I've been trying to find a rear lower valance/rub strip/diffuser (not really sure what its called) and just assumed that if I found a genuine S-Line one that it would fit - reading the above I'm guessing thats not the case?

If you both show your rear bumper & I mean yours not a google photo, then I can advise you both as I'm not sure if sline 04 had the same as 05 onwards as the sport had an insert which not sure if sline also had in 04.

The 3.2 is desirable model in its own right and not a common sight.

So IMO I would avoid making it an S3 look-a-like.

Yes, use S3 bits to freshen it up and make it individual, just not like something else in the range, mix it up a little with OEM bits and maybe some tasteful aftermarket bits.

My 2p anyway FWIW.

Dude I know I live in the south close to brighton but seriously dont encourage them.

Anyway as I thought the sline 04 has the same bumper as the sport of the same year, so you would have to retrofit it onto the bumper upper, with some cutouts of the plastic to make it fit flush properly & with some cable ties, you'll see what I mean if you decide to do, now sline 05 onwards shares same upper as the S3 so would be plugnplay, you need the cable ties & cutouts to get it to bend round the older upper properly, mine looks oem with my modding of the 05 onwards sline valance onto my sport upper, nobody could tell difference.

Cheers NHN, I think I'll leave the rear til last, sounds like a bit of a pain and as if it wont look quite right...

Not sure if I'm being confused with the OP (im not looking to go S3 look) I'm going for OEM S-line or at least as close as i can get.

To gauge opinion - my car is Avus silver, I was considering going black optics s-line grille with anthracite (powder coating my current) s-line alloys, and maybe having the mirrors painted black when i get the bonnet/bumper paint work done... Hard to tell before its done but do you think this will look ok/silly?

PS: and christ that picture is offensive man! his cable ties are so tight his cutouts look flush... the look you've been aspiring to NHN?
