Has anyone had a re-con engine fitted to their S3?
Needing a new BAM engine as the oil feed pipe became dislodged, took a chunk out the crankshaft, bent a conrod and took a chunk out the cylinder head.
Obviously not a happy bunny!
Looking for somewhere reliable to source and possibly fit a re-con engine.
Any advice folks..........

i would imagie these would be pretty scarse??,and wont come chaep, S4 conversion!!

I was in the same position as you

In the Leeds area there are very little places that do it so i ended up doing it myself

I feel for you and i hope you find a place that will do the work

sorry, in in Scotland. can get car delivered probs as far as birmingham etc.
fed up with audis, too unreliable. going back to my trusted Impreza's!!

That is actually quite funny! The chocolate engined subaru compared to the unreliable audi, brightened up my sunday. Any unloved car will be unreliable, but subaru! Would definately change jobs if i ever thought i was in that category.

Ive owned 3 imprezas over the years, loved every one, never had any issues with them, i am constantly tempted to go back!

That is one way to win over members to help in your search for a BAM engine on an Audi site

youll find that the oil feed pipe in question is actually a common problem for engines past a certain age/milage.

Meaning the engine is not unreliable, just unmaintained.

Ive never had a problem (enginewise) with my Audi - Infact if I dont go 8L S3 this year im going 8P S3..

in my five years of ownership the only time my Audi wouldn't perform was when my alarm stopped me from driving it

3 impreza's, 50k miles and no problems. 2 S3's, 9k miles, 1st one broke down twice in 1st 2k i had it & 2nd one just blown up. i guess they dont like to be driven properly. both sub 60k both f.a.s.h. must be my driving.

8 Audis in 19 years and over 350,000 miles (driven by me), not perfect but never been let down. ANY car can let you down if it's a lemon or poorly maintained FASH does not guarantee anything if its been drriven by a prat before you bought it, sounds like you've been unlucky.

agree, 1 x audi, 8 yrs, 120K never let me down. Up to a point its not the make of car its how it is looked after that counts.

I would agree with you on this, i bought an S3 with FASH 10 months ago, it's a pile of poo, every month something goes wrong, the current problem has been on going for 3 months now with no end in sight (just my luck to buy a complete lemon). 4 other people i know have audi's and they all seem to be bullet proof, Anyone fancy an S3 with full audi service history ? it's top notch, honest !
