My Audi Life....

I guess it all comes down to our friends the insurance companies.

We all have insurance for third party risk, so this kinda thing shouldnt happen, but when a claim for a small bumper scrape can add a huge amount to your insurance premium over the next 5 years, its no surprise a lot of people, especially younger folk that are already paying a lot, just do a bolt.

If you consider that losing your NCB, or even having a claim with a protected NCB, could easily mean your insurance costs several hundered pounds more, for the next 5 years, for some damage that could quite easily only have cost a few hundred pounds to put right, it does take the **** a little.

Audi quoted over a grand today so ill be ringing the girl tomorrow and see what she wants to do. Local bodyshop offered to do it for £600 cash so we shall see!

A grand lol...

The bumper cant be any more than £300 new, assuming it actually needs replaced.

300quid to paint it sounds quite a lot to me, considering its only one small panel?

bumper is £375 plus VAT, and yes its broken so needs replacing then labour to fit, supply and apply paint, courtesy car etc

Yikes, they've got dear!

I think craig was recently quoted £700 to replace and repaint a roof skin... so 600quid for a bumper just seemed quite a lot!

i was quoted £600 all in inc courtesy car from Audi that was for a replacement bumper paint etc, may be avants are dearer cos they are rarer?

I'd get lookin on ebay, then get it into a mates shop if your not that handy at spraying yourself. Worst poss scenario, get it painted and then fit new bumper yourself.

Drizz have you solved the missing boost issue yet? As our A3 has lost its boost too, somewhere between home and Newport

No theres a similar thread on here showing someone with broken penny valve and actuator so when my caddys on the road ill start stripping the audi down

Then disconnected the intercooler pipework and this was the result:

Think we can conclude the turbos shafted. But the problem was lack of boost not smoke. Then i found this:

Think thatll be the penny valve then.
And how i left it today, with 3 bolts i couldnt get too. Ill crack on tomorrow:

If its anything like mine it had pushed back thru the wastegate hole and was sat directly below the exhaust manifold outlet, blocking the entrance to the turbine housing.
