Help with minor misfire / hesitation ?

Dude, what's going on with car man? Your having a few issues already.

Well the thread has probably blown it out of proportion, its not really an issue, its just the boost on the car being sensitive to the DV and remap, if you drove the car for the day you probably wouldnt notice it, had it checked by a VAG specialist and reported no fault codes or problems, i just think the forge DV is just a bit too keen - the engine runs like a dream and when i plant it i dont get any of these reported misfires at 5-6.500rpm, it might be a case of sticking the OEM DV back on and it will iron it out, but you have got to remember im on the motorway all day everyday so im gonna experience it now and again, i know what it is and know its not serious at all, i just wanted to get to the bottom of it and think i have, so im ready for my next mod without any worries

Cool, cool :) I think I'm gonna skip the CAI now and since I want noise I might as well go for the Milltek and map. I'm like you though regarding the engine bay, someone really needs to design a decent one to fit on with CAI's. Anyways, I'm sure your problem is not really a problem so let the modding begin!!

Yeah mate its no big deal, i have a touch of OCD with these things and feel fine about it, i may put on the OEM DV just to see how it feels, but the remap on an S3 is a no brainer, and the Milltek will be a nice compliment to it, CAI and engine cover etc is a pain but if you get the engine cover cut properly im sure it will look the nuts, when are your mods gonna begin then?

Damn, I was hoping you wasn't going to ask! This is why I try avoid ASN lol..Modding bug..Well I have finally approached 1000miles and was trying not to think about it but now it's too late. Wanted to ask you, I think I will be doing the remap in March but also want the Milltek, now for my question..When people usually go down this route i.e. upgrading their exhaust/map, do they get the exhaust done first or the remap? I doubt I will doing both at exactly the same time but wanted to make sure I went down the correct route if there was one. And also (this is regarding the exhaust) if I was to not purchse the full TBE and just went say for now the cat back would it be possible to add the extra parts further along the line i.e. Hi flow sports cat/downpipe and eventually make it a full TBE? Hope my questions don't seem too confusing lol but yeah March is when it will begin. Remap will be at Votex just like yourself.

Has anyone tryed APR stg2+ , just curious for any feedbacks... I have it and I am more that satisfied with it, do alot of track days and road/city use and just perfect, lots of power through the whole rev range with no problems whatsoever... :)

Well because of the adequate stock engine there is no problem with getting it remapped first, im sure most people on here would recommend this first, usually people do this first as it gives the most gains and a Milltek is something done after / or to complement the map as if with a CAI , as a rule there is no right or wrong way....

Regards to the Milltek, you might aswell go for full TBE straight away, essentially this is the the point that you would want to reach anyway

Something i have just noticed !

I was looking in the forge DV box that it came in and found a spring in little plastic bag, there is a sticker on the plastic saying "please keep this spring / code FMSS114-yellow) This spring may be needed if you have your ECU re-mapped"

Any thoughts? would this solve the problem?

Mine has the yellow spring fitted mate & still does it, I really do think its a downpipe issue as like mentiond in here & on my mates it no longer does it.

If your thinking about intakes ill take you out in mine if you want & you can listen to the noise of the evoms with the forge dv its crazy. Ye the OEM facelift dv is good but the forge should help it spool quicker & for longer plus you have the noise too if you like that. BTW the yellow spring should be fitted if your remapped!!

Thanks for the offer, might take you up on that.

It could well be the DP then, when will you be getting yours ? are you going full TBE?

Just give me a pm & we can sort summert out. Ye going to go Miltek Non Res Turbo Back prob some time after modball in june but dont know if to get rims & coils first then save for TBE with stage 2+ & clutch & flywheel all in one

Will do mate, actually it might be a better idea for me to meet with you after your TBE is fitted as its something that could be on the cards for me around that time of year, stage 2+ is gonna rip your head off by the sounds of it bet you cant wait.

On the subject of future mods, Steve at Stattler whos opinion i nothing but value said that anti-roll bars are a great and reasonably cheap mod for the S3, apparentley it really changes the feel of the car, i think Eibach are the number one choice on here, and because im not going down the stage 2+ route i might spend my money on these instead, could be something to consider for yourself.

I would check all the connections to the pcv system, oil cap, dipstick o ring, the pipe which is over the downpipe close to the windscreen, remove the factory tensioners around that and replace them with proper screw on hose fittings, everybody underestimates the pressure in the tfsi engines, it made a hell of difference, two simple little 5 euro pieces on that part, where causing a big loss in boost, found it by myself and all these repair shops, people at the audi service were not even close.... dont give up keep looking for losses in boost, it will always be part of the game with these cars, a hose here a hose there check everything all the frigging time.... theyre fast but theyre a boiling kettle and that steam is your horsepower which is always trying to find the weakest point to exit..
