Spent part of yesterday at my local VW specialist as my mate was having some work done on his Passat.

I asked for their recomendation on Coilovers for the Audi expecting them to say KW if you have the money.

But they said KW was over priced and the best quality for price was Weitec which is made by KW anyway.

So I'm just wondering if anyone on here is running Weitec coilovers and what you thought of the ride etc.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Don't get me wrong, as said, Weitec are VERY good coilovers for the money, but your friends are dilluded, KW are the best that money can buy for road use. I have KWs on my A3 and Mikey/Jules/Jim have weitecs on theres, I can feel the difference......

Thanks Nath

KW's are not overpriced. they are quality. They are more flexible than weitecs, u can lower car more. I got weitecs myself and i think they are very very good. KW are better but if you are on the budget go for weitecs which i did and found them very good. A3 original suspension is a bit harsh anyway so you will be fine:) And one more thing stop listen egg heads from audi/vw garages. They got pound coins instead of eyes and once you come in to ask them coins starts spin:D quicker and quicker:D Get read advices on forum and you will save some cash

I have to 2nd that... I have KW ver 3 on my car.
At first they were rock hard but are gradually settling in... once completely settled will start playing with them.

Ah they were they OK now.... AMD set them up ;)

I hear what your saying guys but do you really think that the kw's are £500 better? The guys that recommend the weitech's arn't just a bunch of VW mechanics they have been around a long time and have a very very good reputation with the VW and Audi crouds.

KW now have something like 11 different kits in their range now, starting from AP non adjustable to the V3. Weitec is just a label they give the kits somewhere in the middle. It's not really a brand in it's own right since KW bought it a few years back.

Well, Weitecs are around £515, for Non adjustable the Hi-Con GT's and I paid £850 for my Variant 2 Adjustable height and dampening KWs. Is there a £300 difference. In my OPINION and EXPERIENCE, there is between the 2. Every person I've ever spoke to who deals with Suspension has always said KWs are better build than Bilsteins.

Its your call dude.

Jody at MVW? ;-)

If so then believe him, some people assume the most expensive is best but in this case, i've only heard good things from Weitec and even if the KW's are better, they wont be £500 better thats for sure.

You got it Lee yeah it's Jody. N8 were did you get v2's for that price? The book at over 1k then you've got fitting on top.

V2's are well over £1000 now, £850 would be something like 20% off RRP.

I bought mine in May 2008, I think they've raised the price since then, lucky me ey!:Flush: :readit::laugh::ninja:

Yeah, exchange rates haven't helped, and the UK prices also got put up to be in line with the rest of Europe, whereas for a while they were cheaper in the UK.

Ah ok that makes sense :) Reason I'm keen on the Weitec's is the guy who recommended them seriously knows his stuff and price the extra £500 can go on something else like an RS steering wheel :)

So is anyone on here running Weitec suspension?

if i was you i would lisen to jody the slaphad he knows what his talking about and save your self ££££

Ive got Weitecs, best suspension setup ive ever had, and ive had a fair old few! Worth the money all day long, id even pay more than I did for mine. Id buy these again and again, everytime.

The Weitec's are basically galvanized versions of the KV Variant Inox coilovers. The internals are pretty much the same with only very small differences.

I've got to agree that the KW's are the ultimate coilovers but if you want to save a few pounds then the Weitec's are a pretty good choice.

well I am planning to buy coilovers for my 2007 tdi a3 s line.seeing this thread everybody is mentioning weitecs and kw.My friend have kw coilovers in his escort mk 6 and they gave him all sort of trouble.dont know wthe reason and everybody is telling kw are the best coilovers ?

I have KW V2s, been on 2 years and 25k now, not a single problem, the ride and handling is out of this world. Ur friend had an "escort" and he had "problems" I'll leave it at that.

The KW's really are a superb piece of kit, I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble with them but they do come with 2 years warranty if you do.
